OK. Walking Bomb is working. :D

Also, bye bye, Carver. Also, how *scary* are the new Genlocks?

How long does it take to complete the DLC? I can't get it until this weekend, and I heard it was only a couple hours long. I'm not really sure that a couple hours is worth the $10

Does anyone find the Genlock Alphas to be a bit on the annoying side? I'm playing a mage on hard and I have a hard time taking them down.

Since they're darkspawn, I believe that Genlocks are weak to spirit and nature.  Try to disorient the Alphas with a rogue ability like Fatiguing Fog (the upgraded version), and then use an upgraded Spirit Bolt to help take them down quickly.  If you or another mage in your party has Elemental Weapons, equip an appropriate staff to further capitalize on their elemental weaknesses.

In addition, if you have Varric in your party, you can also use a spell that induces Brittle (e.g., upgraded Petrify), and have him use Archer's Lance on the afflicted target.

If you don't have overhead damage text on you may not notice this but they take about 10% damage when hit from the front and like 500% from behind.

Heh, yeah, I only noticed they can be dangerous on the last one in the game. All others died from vendetta+stab in 2 seconds, but that time the skills were in reuse and he waded through my party :) .

I really enjoyed about 95% of the dlc. The fights were much improved over the original, the game doesn't just throw stuff at you randomly. The enemies look like they're trying to be tricky or at least have common sense. I like how some of them have player type skills, too. And there's some chat/movement going on beyond the attack-anything-that-moves routine. Keeping things interesting. The traps that could help I usually discovered after the fight, heh...

The rest was the final battle. That was an epic fail/cheese fight if I ever saw one. Left all my party to die in the third round (when the ice/lightning starts) as I just couldn't navigate with them effectively and just ran arround for half an hour, slowly wearing down the shades with a bow... Bullet hell design for a party rpg, really? Should have just deleted that one and put the "easter egg" one in its stead. Although it was pretty to look at and dynamic, but I was blinded by rage, so that didn't work for me :P .

Here's the Bethany build i used with my warrior, meant to go along with my warrior guide (link in signature). Click her name for the build/level-up guide.

Bethany

Self: Health <25% - Use Potion
Self: Mana or stamina <10% - Use: Lyrium Potion
Hawke: Health <25% - Barrier
Varric: Health <10% - Heal
Enemy: Target rank is Elite or higher - Winter's Grasp
Enemy: Slowed - Use current condition for next tactic
Enemy: Target rank is Elite or higher - Crushing Prison
Self: At least one enemy is alive - Haste
Enemy: Target of Hawke - Use current condition for next tactic
Enemy: Target rank is Elite or higher - Hex of Torment
Enemy: Attacking Anders - Spirit Bolt
Enemy: Using ranged attack - Spirit Bolt
Enemy: Target at short range - Glyph of Paralysis
Enemy: Clustered with at least three enemies - Fireball
Enemy: Target between medium and long range - Firestorm
Self: Any - Activate: Elemental Weapons
Self: Any - Activate: Heroic Aura
Enemy: Using ranged attack - Attack

Notes

- This build is meant to be used in conjunction with Anders for Double Haste, and to hold Heroic Aura to free up his mana reserves

- A combo of unupgraded Winter's Grasp/Crushing Prison will root Elite+ enemies, rendering them completely immobilized (shout out to SB)

- Anders should have his Varric healing tactic turned off, splitting the healing load between himself and Bethany (Anders for Hawke, Bethany for Varric)

- Bethany's Barrier will grant Hawke 6 seconds of near-unopposed/safe Sacrificial Frenzy time

Has anyone played it while their Hawks is in the second act while Leandra is still alive?

Just out of curiosity, anybody else having a hard time CCing Genlock alphas/Brontos? They seem to have some unusual immunities (gravitic ring, stun, taunt, goad, freezing, paralysis; stuff that works on bosses at least some of the time).

Also, haven't tested this with the tank mage yet, but their respective charges seems to have 100% knockdown regardless of immunity or fortitude. Any corroboration or exceptions would be appreciated.

I just played it through on the first act. I won't spoil too much, but there's a cutscene at the end. Fairly certain the cutscene will be the same, just in a different setting (Hawke Manor vs. Gamlen's Hovel). Too tired at the moment to play through a second time to confirm.

That is a pretty beastly build. I came up with something similar for my Warrior run. Dual haste + fervor + barrage + primeval rune = a whole lot bunch of things dead in seconds. It's not even fun anymore lol. It's even worse, if you bring Bethany, Anders and Varric with your DW rogue Hawke.

I hear that turning just pillars 2 and 4 solves it.

What I did: looking at the exit I turned the pillars starting on the right side, bringing the light arround to where the left source was. Did the same for the 2nd level and 3rd without regarding how the others messed up and in the middle of that one all solved themselves. Maybe just dumb luck, but it worked xD .

AreleX, I have a request, if I may.

Could you record a vid of that triple Golem fight, using your mage, Anders, Merrill and Varric. This fight can be pretty tricky with this party, since Varric is the only one that can damage one of the golems (magic resistant). I managed to beat it, but it did take me several tries, some microing and some clever CC to pull it off.
Also, I would gladly post some vids myself, but unfortunatelly I don't have a capture card. :/

I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but is it possible to bring Bethany or Carver with you for Legacy in Act 2?
