Just got Legacy done with one of my Hawkes. Loved it!

Loved:
New cool areas
Varied fights
More lore
Vistas to look out from and have dialog initiated (More of this please!)
New gear
New dialog with family, super sweet! I really got a nice chunk of Hawk family history. Very cool BW.
Puzzles weren't half bad too....... Usually I can't stand them :)

Not loved:
Bug on LI conversations (XBox). LI'd Isabella. She didn't say much. Had a line at the beginning about dwarves popping by the mansion and how that'd be bad because Isabella would be naked. Made me laugh. Was there actually more lines relating to LI stuff?
Bug on Final boss fight where he doesn't come down from his podium. Restarted fight and it worked fine. That was a bear of a fight!

One thing in DA2 that happened when fighting the secret boss back in the arena that's happened elsewhere in the game is powerful bad guy attacks knocking players past shielded off areas or blocked areas and they just get stuck there. Also, some cut scenes my Hawke didn't have his shield on. Not a huge thing but that stuff needs tightening up.

Overall I'd say this is the best DA related DLC yet! Tone was spot on creepy and dark. The banter that did trigger during Legacy was really great and funny. I'll wait on a patch for the LI conversations to trigger for my other 2 Hawkes but can't wait to run through it again! Worth every penny!

Sorry, I haven't read the entire thread and I might raise a topic already discussed.

Corypheus seems to share some abilities of the Old Gods. He emits the song through his taint, one that is so powerful he can even control Grey Wardens unconscious as Old Gods can only do to darkspawn. That combined with his vast quantity of magical power seems to suggest he may even be key to the first blight such as the Gods they were.

This leads me to believe that when you kill him, he possesses the warden, Larius or Janeka, just as the soul of an Old God automatically seeks out the nearest tainted creature. (ergo the need for a Grey Warden to strike the final blow) How he survives? Well in Larius's case, he has been tainted so long he is more darkspawn than human, the darkspawn can't tell the difference and perhaps the danger to the soul of the magister is negligible due to the taint's progression. Janeka on the other hand said she is near her calling as well at the end of the DLC. I might be wrong on that one.

The last and final "piece of evidence" I have is the way you are thanked in the end, "The prison stands no more. My gratitude you have, for my freedom." Corypheus seems to speak in a similar manner such as "Serve you the temple of Dumat?" (Basically speaking in a backwards method, like Yoda.)

And also when he says "If I can't leave with you, I shall leave through you!" he might be speaking about the Grey Warden in the room, as in he shall use them as a conduit to the outside world.

What I don't get is if he just went to the nearest grey warden, why isn't that Anders? It could be do to Justice. But if he can replace a soul, how do you kill him?

I was thinking that with bringing Warden Bethany along why his essence or whatever didn't travel and kill her. But there is a pretty clear cut scene where Hawke walks over and finishes Corypheus off and they do make a pretty big deal of Larius running out of the temple before the fight begins almost like he was sent away. Which seemed like a strategic move on ol' Cory's part. Plus Bethany is no where near her calling. Same with Anders. Maybe it's the strength of the taint that drew Cory to the older whacked out Wardens.

I never thought of it that way. It does sound interesting. Maybe we'll see the return of Corypheus in the form of Larius/Janeka. Maybe Corypheus did bring the First Blight like how the Architect brought the Fifth Blight (DA:O). It definitely gives us something to think about.

As for the lack of romance refernces, I too am dissapointed. I brought Merrill and Fenris along (during seperate playthroughs) hoping that they'd make refernce to that fact that they're in love with Hawke. Alas, nothing. I haven't tried it yet with the Anders relationship, but I hope there's something considering what Anders ends up having to do in Legacy.

Don't know about Anders and Fenris but Merrill has a chat with Anders in which she mentions the fact that she is in love with Hawke. My quote is not flawless, but the meaning is there:

Anders: "You read my spellbooks without my permission, you know that those are private"
Merrill: "I'm sorry, but I was looking for a particular spell..."
Anders: "What kind of spell?"
Merrill: "Well... a dirty spell."
Anders: "You mean... a spell to use while you are in bed with Hawke?"
Merrill: "Well... yes, something to make things more fun".
Hawke: "Ok, now stop talking immediately.".

This is really interesting and I think you are both right.

One thing about the Architect: what if he was just trying to use the Warden and he is not what we tought he was? Maybe he is another an ancient magister too.

We know that it was more than one magister to reach the golden/black city in the ancient times. They performed a ritual in which thousands of slaves were killed and went in the fade with their whole body. They reached the city, but they didn't conquer it. Instead they were tainted and sent back to the earth, the first of the darkspawns. This fact also caused the first blight.

I think that the developers are setting things up to make every ancient magister come back to life and try to reach the black city once again in DAIII.

This is a result of using the Elixir of Purity potion and is not a result of this expansion. (I figured it out in my first venture to the Deep Roads, prior to this expansions release.)

Not that it's a story thing, but I'd like to point out how much I liked the weapon-specific finishers against Cory. Not just class-based, but weapon-based! Very nice.

Does anyone know all the combinations of sibling + LI that produce some banter?

I noticed that Carver has some banter if Sebastian (friendship) is romanced. I'm told he has some about Merrill too. But none about Anders, surprisingly. I also hear Bethany has some about Sebastian (rivalry), but I noticed no romance banter when I played through on a Merrill romance.

Try the Dragon Age Wikia. Each character has a page like Merrill/Dialogue. It can keep you busy for hours. ;)

If Legacy is not added there yet, it will be soon. ;)

Aha, I now know that Sebastian and Carver have a banter regarding the chaste marriage (with endings that change based on Hawke's personality), as does Bethany. And Anders has a romance-related banter with Carver only if Carver is a templar.

When I played with Bethany and Merrill in my party with a F!Hawke who romanced Merrill Bethany did have a comment.
She says you are a cute couple and asks if you have pet names. Hawke and Merrill comment on this. Carver has a comment where he sounds jealous that you are with Merrill, but he says he's happy for you.

Anybody knows if doing the dumas sacrifice or not has any effect in the outcome? I played doing it and not doing it and it does not seem to have any effect

Probably because it was the first page I saw. (No idea where it really is in the thread.) When I searched for something involving one of the puzzles, it was one of the pages linked. When I didn't find what I was looking for on that initial page, I went elsewhere. Noting what page it was on or if it had been answered past that point wasn't a priority. Guessing that's been the case for whoever else might have commented on it. -shrugs-

Carver also flirts with Isabela. Much to the consternation of an Isabela-mancing Hawke, which is cute. Beth doesn't seem to notice or acknowledge an Isabela romance, though. :(

But I think the best romance banter is Sebastian flirting with Bethany. He's very smooth.

I finished a playthrough of Legacy in Act 2 with Carver while Leandra was still fine in the Hawke Estate. I'm actually really disappointed in the family conversation. The conversation with Carver was the same, no matter that Leandra was still in the house. She didn't talk to him, and considering the fuss she made after he went off to be a Gray Warden, and all of the references to "OMG Carver is gone", I was expecting her to care that Carver was actually in the house for a minute at least. She acts like he's dead after the Deep Roads, and then isn't even excited to see him. I specifically did a playthrough so she could see Carver after he became a Gray Warden, and nothing was different. Bummer.

Watch this video:

It is interesting because at 2:00 a Bioware Emplyee explicitly compares the Architect and Corypheus. He says that "they are very similar" and that Legacy is going to reveal more details about "these creatures" and the lore behind them.

I think we can say that the Architect is an Ancient Magister just like Corypheus.

I've confirmed that Anders does recognise the romance. He says a brief line at the beginning of Legacy and again during banter with Varric. The coversation something like this:

Anders: "Why am i going back to the Deep Roads?"
Varric: "Because I (you?) like getting in trouble and you think Hawke is cute."
Anders: "She is pretty cute."

Sorry Bioware, but glowing Justice-esqe demon eyes don't make me think "purity", It's more like that weapon is possessing Hawke, lol.

Lol, I swear the last time I played I saw Hawke start to light up like Meredith before she turned into the statue...
