Yeah, I know these have probably been asked a millions times. ;P Sorry, but the wiki and GameFAQs just aren't doing it.

Arright. Despite consulting the internet, when I was done with my first playthrough of the DLC, I only picked up the Bane of Thedas achievement, neither of the optional ones. So, help is required.

For Enthralling... I know the ones you need are genlock, hurlock, shriek, ogre, hurlock emissary and blight wolf. And I thought I'd maxed them all! I always made sure to keep killing things until I was certain that I was no longer getting +approval notifications for the thrall in question. Could someone please give me tips for doing this best? What's the best order, what are the issues people usually have with getting the achievement, et cetera. Also, I noticed that there seem to be two kinds of genlocks, with different portraits, but since they're both called 'genlock' (not 'genlock archer' or whatever)... does the game make a distinction for that achievement?

Ogre Keeper. Rrrgh, I was sure I was going to get this one, but nope. Is there a certain order of events I might not have followed? Like, do you have to go save the ogre IMMEDIATELY? I consulted the internet after my ogre vanished from my party upon entering the palace gates area, and I was pretty sure that the ogre I enthralled was the correct one, since it had higher-than-starting approval. That was what I was supposed to do, right? And I never let it die, of course... Any advice or more surefire ways to get that darn achievement would be welcomed.

The Enthralling achievement is achieved when full approval is gained from a genlock, a hurlock, an ogre, a shriek, a hurlock emissary and a blight wolf.
Although other types of darkspawn are recruitable, they do not count.
These approvals must be gained in a single playthrough. In addition, any
darkspawn killed using Enthrall counts towards other darkspawn-killing
achievements.

  • In the 2nd area, Market District, the entrance to Goldanna's House
is an infinite spawning point. You can easily maximize the approval of
your Genlock, Hurlock, Shriek, and Orge here simply by AFKing your
entire party there for a few hours. Just be sure to set your party
    members' tactics to "Aggressive".

In the 4th area, Palace District, many areas have respawning soldiers.
The palace doors themselves, the burning pile of debris to the left of
the doors down the path and the doorway just beyond the burning pile on
the left (across from the stairs up). All locations will continuously
spawn Dwarven Soldiers and Legionnaires. This is a much faster option than the above, as the legionnaires are Elite ranked (+5-10 approval every minute or so).

Yeah, as noted in my initial post, I'd already read that- but it doesn't really help. ;/ (Also, I scoured the entirety of the Palace Gates for respawns and found none. Maybe they go away after the Sten fight or something.)

Thought the Wiki covers it pretty well. I can confirm on PC, 360 and PS3 that it worked fine for me following the Wiki.
But there are numerous bugs with getting the wrong Ogre back later on (The one with full or high affinity dosnt mean its the same Ogre unfortunetly)

And as stated it cant die once, even during teh final battle.

As for getting the others, its pretty simple if you even just use the gifts you get. Made easier when you use the two infinete spawn points.

Speaking of which the gates they are refering too are the first major stairway theres a closed door that keeps spawning two dwarf guards.

Not very well covered, considering that I didn't get either achievement even when I'd been consulting it. ;p

So which ogre is the correct one, if you can't tell by the approval ratings? (Though why on earth isn't that a way to tell? If you pump up a genlock's approval and then kill it, the next genlock you grab has base approval again).

And I know the door you're talking about. It spawned a ton the first time I got near it, but I ran around every inch of the area later in hopes of triggering new spawns (like you can do in the marketplace), and no dice. Rrgh.

Im reading something in the wiki page talk page about the ogres differant approval ratings and how you have to get the one closest to the gates first.

I do remember this though, when I did I made sure to try and boost my thralls beyond full bar at least once to be sure it wasnt just really close to the top, and I also remeber boosting the Ogres approval to full with items after I got him back.

Another thing I did in my game was I got rid of teh intial Genlock and got a new one quickly. So in the first area I had a fresh Genlock, and Hurlock before I got the Ogre.
Later on getting the Shriek and Emmisary, then Blightwolf. and boosting their approval from items and killing.

Another thing to check is make sure you dont already have the achievment and just didnt notice.

If all else fails there is another way to get your achivements fixed on the 360, one of the patches inserted a bug into your gamer profile that prevented certain things from working.

What you need to do is clear your 360 cache, and delete your gamer profile. Then recall your 360 tag through the menu (Needs your email and login info) this will refresh your gamer tag on your system and resynch it with your online profile. (Must be done while connected to xbox live)
Start up dragonage and let it reinstall the patches and it should work. (Worked for me to get Wardens Keep and Stone Prisoner achivements)

Har, thanks! As an update, I did get the Enthralling achievement eventually (I think I'd messed up on my first genlock or somethin), but Ogre Keeper is still eluding me. @_o There is an approval distinction between the two ogres at the gates- the closer one has my adjusted approval level, the farther one doesn't. Stands to reason that the closer one would be correct, but no achievement. I dunno, does the game still count an ogre's death against you if you reloaded a previous save? (I accidentally let it get too near the ballistae in the Market and it got nuked, so I reloaded my earlier save and continued).

Good news then on the Enthralling

and I dont think that save matters, you just have to keep him alive until the credits roll.
