I can't believe I forgot about Debra Winger's hospital death scene in Terms of Endearment. Seriously, if you can hold back the tears as she's saying goodbye to her two children, you're a robot. That little boy makes you cry just seeing him cry.

ETA: Forrest Gump. Lots of moments in that movie, but most especially the end, after Jenny comes back and tells Forrest she's dying of AIDS, and that Forrest is a father. "Is he smart?" :crying:

Roy's Speech

A total classic

As for me, I would pick this  , a brilliant actor in a great series RIP Andreas Katsulas

Yeah, B5 had some great moments, great writing, great direction (the death of Lord Refa) and great acting (other than Mira Furlan and Bruce Boxleitner, neither of whom were bad they were just outshun by the rest of the cast).  Probably the best Sci-Fi series ever made.

Why has no one mentioned this great show?!

I can't pick anyone moment so here are two links. It's just too good and filled with many scenes that are touching be it in a good way or bad. From a mother trying to kill off her own son to a Tony's son trying to kill himself. It's such a great show.

I couldn't take Pokemon seriously after Misty left the show. Could have expanded so much on her and Ash. >_>

Oh, and Brock was dropped for the new Black & White region, last I checked.

Coral (Nemo's mother) dies:

The ending of Toy Story 3 got me, too, but I think a video was already posted.

Tara's death in Buffy... I was heartbroken for Willow. Then Dark Willow came and I was: HELL YEAH!

I had the same reaction on Fred becoming Illyria.

I challenge ANYONE to say that this wasn't the most profound and heartbreaking moment in ALL of cinema:

Alright. It's not.
Here's mine:
In "I am Legend" there is a bit, after Samantha's death, where Will Smith enters that video store and talks to the mannequin and goes "Please say hello." and I just tear up, he does it in such a heart-breaking way. You have to see it to understand.
Watch here.

I dont have a link but in The Guard the scene where McBride stops the smugglers is pretty powerful when McBride realizes there's a reason they're not afraid of him... (sorry for the vagueness but i think it's a quality film and don't waant to spoil anything on anyone)

It's been a while since I've seen the movie, so you'll have to forgive me, but what exactly was sad about that scene? It seemed more happy in tone. Was it the moment when his father's ghost speaks to him?

The scene in the Lion King that seemed to be most sad or touching that I recall was when Scar killed his dad and simba was just a little cub, all alone in the world, or the scene where he tries to remember his father looking up into the stars.

the ending scene that you linked to seemed to be more of a happy scene.

Oh, I just meant that it was touching in that it makes you feel something.

The whole of the 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' episode 'The Body'. Really sad and harrowing and moving stuff. Having been through something very similar, I was amazed at how well the programme dealt with the subject matter, particularly when supposedly 'realistic' tv shows haven't done it nearly as well. There are particular scenes where Buffy seems 'numb' to what's happened, as though it's distant or unreal, and keeps going over in her mind how it can be changed or rectified; and that's exactly how I felt after the same thing happened. One of the best episodes, imo, even though it isn't one I'd care to re-watch.

If you get the chance you should watch it with commentary.  Its a chance to pick apart Whedon's brain.  The things he came up with for just that one episode is amazing.
"reason there is no music in this episode is I didn't want the audience off that easy.  Music would give them something pleasent to latch onto and I didn't want that."
I never look forward to see it but I can't skip it EVER.  Its not an enjoyable episode to say the least but its not to be ignored.

Thanks Rockworm. I've never listened to the commentary, though I do own the DVDs. I will make an effort to do so :) In fact, all 7 seasons of Buffy are due a rewatch ...

Siansonea, you're coming up with too much good stuff. I can't even think about Terms of Endearment :crying:

A scene in My Dog Skip watch from 4:40 onward (I know it's bad quality but it's all I could find)

And this scene from Pokemon The First Movie (I know it's really silly and you guys will most likely laugh at me, but I honestly can't help but get teary eyed.) :P

Make fun of you? This video brings back so many memories... I'm pretty sure a fair share of us here were really into Pokemon as kids. xD

Hell, I still play the games at 18.

Without a doubt... the most awesome climax to any movie ever in my experience...

Self Sacracfice abound, vengence, awesome soundtrack...

with hardly a line spoken..... best to watch if you already been following the story... but gee when papa goes after the guy who just killed his son.... yer like ...yes, yes, yes, kill that sonovabich

In America is also extremely touching as is off mice and men.

And for the inner geek in me

Star Trek 2 spocks death
Return of the Jedi Vaders redemption

I guess self sacrafice and redemption are the things that get the heart strings.

The Fly was also good when brundle fly now a horrible fusion of fly, machine and man begs to be put out of his misery by putting the barrel of the shot gun to his head....

Edit, notice people already put the link, but it deserves to be seen!
