Is it the spoiled, bratty characters? The loudness? The disgusting, obnoxious humor? It seems like all the good shows have either ended or been canceled. The quality of shows on Nickelodeon seemed to decrease after they took out Invader Zim. I've wondered if this was just nostalgia on my part. I mean, you see remakes of shows from the 80s and 90s all the time, but I can never get into them. Maybe it's because the writers are trying too hard to capture the attitude of those particular shows without realizing that people have moved on and want a more serious narrative?

No, I've rewatched the shows I tuned into as a kid and young adolescent. They're still better than most of the stuff they show on TV.

Are you kidding? I was watching every Hey Arnold! yesterday on Youtube and I missed shows like that, being a kid has nothing to do with it.

I have never seen "Friendship is Magic", but I read several articles that suggest it is more intelligent show than its bright and fluffy appearance make it appear. "Legend of Korra" will probably be very good, and that is still technically a kid's show. "Young Justice" is okay. "Clone Wars" is kind of dumb, but I have seen much worse.

Would I say kids shows are as great now as they were even a decade ago? Hell no. But suck? Universally suck? That is harder to agree with. That aside, your definition of kids shows is unclear. Are we talking programs geared toward toddlers, children yet to reach puberty, or teens? All of the above?

Oh, how I loved that show.

Are you kidding? That show just gets better over time.

Clone Wars is really dumb show and kinda boring too, I only watch sometimes just because of Cad Bane. I miss great shows like Avatar: Last Airbender.

No, I am not kidding. I finally got sick of it and stopped watching. It took way too long before anything interesting happened. While I am on the subject of "Clone Wars", I officially dub that period of "Star Wars" history as the worst I encountered. To think I thought it would be cool when Leia mentioned the wars in her recording. Gah. -_-

While some episodes are pretty dull, there are others that make up for it. It at least takes itself seriously. I agree about the Last Airbender though. That WAS a good show and I hope the sequel follows in it's footsteps.

Most kid shows in the 80's and 90's aren't really better. Don't be swayed by any feelings of nostalgia.

They were better written and had way more interesting characters but now everything is HD, so they think that fills the gap of quality.

I think it's mostly the nostalgia talking, but yeah I'm definitely glad I grew up with Dexter's Lab, The Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, and Ed Edd n Eddy. I do think that kids shows try to use more "gross-out humor" these days, which I don't really get, but that was starting in the 90's too, with shows like Spongebob, Billy & Mandy, and Courage the Cowardly Dog. I think, little boys at least have always liked gross things.

Stupid, brainless cartoons for progressively stupider generations. Remember Bugs Bunny? What do we have now?

Friendship is Magic is a good family watch. Not all kids TV shows are bad.

I think pretty much all generation are plagued with kid shows the treat the view like a child. It just that we have fond memories of watching them growing up. Google some of the shows you watched growing up and I bet they're just a bad as you think today's are.

Actully no Celrath I think they are ****ing Awesome, I even have some like the Super Mario Brothers Super Show on DVD. Thunder Cats, Robotech, several shows back then beat the **** out of even "normal" TV shows now. I hardly even watch TV now, totally not worth it.

With Seagloom on the Clone Wars though. But as to that I think it has alot to do with PCness, and lower budget standards. Like look at GI Joe. Have that on today and you'ld have alot of parents up in arms, that the little snow flakes are learning to fight or some ****. Just like some of them get pissy if the kids play tag.

Take into account the great need alot of networks have for "profit Margins" then you get **** sold to the lowest bidder. While more popular shows that cost money get scraped. Spongebob is an exception to this, but I feel thats as the story is largely chasing the same people that watched in 9-10 years ago, plus a few add ons now.

A person has to look harder to find good programs, but there are still shows worth watching out there. It also helps to pay for more than basic cable. Ditto with movies. There has always been an unspeakable amount of bad films to wade through before finding a gem.

I bought Batman Beyond DVDs because I loved that show so much.
Still love it.

I think networks just don't care.  They think their audience are a bunch of retards so why put any effort into it.  I remember being excited to wake up on saturday and watch cartoons.  Last time I had it on saturday morning I wanted to bash my brains in with a frying pan.

Batman the animated series
Superman
Ren and Stimpy
Batman Beyond
Animaniacs.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Duck Tales
Darkwing Duck
Chip N Dale
The Tick
just a few of the ones that stack up today.... Nostalgia has nothing to do with it.
