Not this thread... again.

There's a reason why he has been refereed to as MonoMeer, it's because his acting for Shepard is rather monotone, all the time, every time. He does fantastic acting with every other character he has ever done, except Shepard. This of course is just an opinion, YMMV.

Both are great VA's and they do a fantastic job. Not everyone likes Meer and not everyone likes Hale but it's impressive that the game got 2 really awesome VA's

His performance with Shepard was fine with me -- he sounds like a perfectly good soldier guy. Of course, people are free to their interpretations.

What we've heard from the trailers and gameplay for ME3 sound very promising, so I'm very much looking forward to it. He is a very talented actor.

That being said, if you enjoy Mark Meer, please click on the link/banner below and join the Living Bible of Mark Meer group!

I prefer Mark Meer as well, I think a monotone is perfect for a com officer... and why is TexasToast's avatar strangely hypnotising?

Meer does a fine job as Shepard... I just prefer Hale's voice is all... it's personal preference, just like some prefer Meer over Hale.

Nothing wrong with Meer at all though otherwise.

I've seen literally nothing against Meer for a long time... I think he was fantastic in ME2. I prefer him over Hale and Hale is just awesomeness. But that's kind of thus your preferred Shep... so not sure the point of this thread... other than reaffirming Mark Meer IS good! Esp with ME2.

Both Hale and Meer inevitably have lines that come off "monotone". It's the nature of Shepard's char with the variations - ME1 you can understand being hard to balance. I think ME2 really silenced many who weren't up on him before.  He was
not monotone really in ME2 imo, esp Renegade stuff was pretty good and
had more feeling as Paragon in many instances.

I like them both for different reasons. I think Meer has a perfect sarcastic, dry delivery for renegade shep. Hale is great for a paragon shep.

I know everyone says how much a better VA jen Hale is.

No, ''they'' do not. Some people prefer one, some like the other, most like both.

Stop listening to extreme points of view and assuming they are the gold standard for everyone.

In ME - ME2 I really hated his voice because he had no inflection or feeling in it he was a robot vocally, Legion had more to his voice then mshep did then I found out he did some of the vorcha and the biotic god and I'm like how is that possible for these two well played character to come from the brick that is Shepard? But then SB happened and shep became alive Meer was using inflection and feeling in his words now I could hear the jokes and know if he was in pain or not the one line I really loved from talking with Liara was, " How many more am I going to lose?" he was hurting and I could hear it, then overloard, and then arrival, I liked how he sounded shocked when he saw the reaper beacon more recently with the video of the kid he was caring and trying to get the kid to come out he sounded really sympathetic and if he keeps this up I might be liking Meer's voice more then fshep's voice. I'm glade he's turning away from robo brick shep.

Mark's voice acting was somewhat lacking in ME1 and Hale's acting seemed better to me. Enter ME2. Mark is on the mark and Hale seems to be trying too hard to get that tough chick voice. I am playing my second femshep in ME2 and on several occasions, I hear Hale's voice and I am like, 'Hey, male shep said it much better.'

Mark does it better then the guy who did male hawke imo, and I gotta agree he's good in ME2 even better as renegade.

Hale is a great voice actor but I think her rendition of Shepard leaves something to be desired. Meer isn't perfect, but I think he does a better job over all.

This is how I feel about it, even though I will always play female characters if at all available.  In the first game, Meer definitely didn't have the emotion that Hale gave her performance, but in the second game, Meer stepped up, while Hale overacted and came off kind of hammy.

But, ya know, opinions, everybody has one.  Does it really matter?  They're both pretty competent, even when one reads a line better than the other in a certain scene.

I prefer Femshep because Hale's voice because there seemed to be more emotional inflection in her voice. However, in some parts in ME2 and what I've seen in ME3, Meer's voice holds more emotion that makes mShep more human. So looking forward to see how he does in ME3.

So you saw the same demos that have been shown with male Shepard, only with female Shepard? Where are these at, I'd like to see them. If not, thats a pretty dumb statement to make since you have no material to make a comparrison.
