Cut Mark Meer A break

There's a reason why he has been refereed to as MonoMeer, it's because his acting for Shepard is rather monotone, all the time, every time. He does fantastic acting with every other character he has ever done, except Shepard. This of course is just an opinion, YMMV.

What we've heard from the trailers and gameplay for ME3 sound very promising, so I'm very much looking forward to it. He is a very talented actor.
That being said, if you enjoy Mark Meer, please click on the link/banner below and join the Living Bible of Mark Meer group!

Both Hale and Meer inevitably have lines that come off "monotone". It's the nature of Shepard's char with the variations - ME1 you can understand being hard to balance. I think ME2 really silenced many who weren't up on him before. He was
not monotone really in ME2 imo, esp Renegade stuff was pretty good and
had more feeling as Paragon in many instances.

No, ''they'' do not. Some people prefer one, some like the other, most like both.maxpowers2525 wrote...
I know everyone says how much a better VA jen Hale is.
Stop listening to extreme points of view and assuming they are the gold standard for everyone.

Mass Effect 2: Meer > Hale
He really turned it around going into Mass Effect 2.

This is how I feel about it, even though I will always play female characters if at all available. In the first game, Meer definitely didn't have the emotion that Hale gave her performance, but in the second game, Meer stepped up, while Hale overacted and came off kind of hammy.
But, ya know, opinions, everybody has one. Does it really matter? They're both pretty competent, even when one reads a line better than the other in a certain scene.

I prefer Femshep because Hale's voice because there seemed to be more emotional inflection in her voice. However, in some parts in ME2 and what I've seen in ME3, Meer's voice holds more emotion that makes mShep more human. So looking forward to see how he does in ME3.
So you saw the same demos that have been shown with male Shepard, only with female Shepard? Where are these at, I'd like to see them. If not, thats a pretty dumb statement to make since you have no material to make a comparrison.
