I didn't know people were hating on Meer. His voice fits perfectly on most mansheps, Sheploo in particular.

Meer is awesome. The deadpan delivery for half the Renegade lines practically defines the character of RenShep for me.

Some people just don't have a sense of humor (or understand the concept of playing the Devil's advocate) I was trying to have some fun.

Now I don't hate Meer as a person or even as VA. but I don't like his performance as Shepard (the same with the Timothy Dalton wanna be who does the male Hawke in DA2). They don't work for me. Now If you like one or both them. Fine more power to you.

He really turned it around going into Mass Effect 2.

IMHO Meer's "perfomance" is actually a trillion times worse in Mass Effect 2.

If I come off as harsh it's because I'm in miserable time right now (and I don't expect it to get any better in the near future).

Hale doesn't work as Shep for me. Meer does. Which is a shame because I usually love Hale' VAing. But her ME voice was horrible

I think he did a great job, i haven't played femShep but have seen a good amount of scenes with her and Jen Hale seems to do a fine job. They're both great voice actors for their respective genders

I think Mark Meer is great.

I love the speech he gives, as Shepard obviously, at the Collector base. It was pure epic.

In any other game, Meer would be top notch talent and stand above the competition. Next to Hale though, he seems like an untalented mook with a lisp.

Really, it's like comparing a BMW to a Ferarri. The BMW gets left behind not because it's terrible, but simply because the Ferrari is just that awesome. Most people misunderstand this I think and just put down the one that's not their favorite.

I prefere Hale's voice. But as everyone pointed out, she is NOT so good doing renegade. Meer on the other hand, while I personally don't like his voice as Shepard, but he is a very good Renegade! Go to youtube and search "Commander Shepard is a Jerk" and "Commander Shepard is still a Jerk".

I'd forgotten about that.  That's one of the main reasons I play para actually.  She overacts very badly in the renegade dialogue.  Try mixing rene and para choices in the same conversation (samara LM a good example).  Not pretty.

I like both voices, though I prefer Meer's, even if my ManShep to FemShep ratio is 1:5. Don't get me wrong, FemShep's awesome, but her chats with Jacob? OMG. I have to click Mute whenever she chats with him. I want to ask the lad about his thoughts on the current mission, not get into his pants. "But the priiize!" right? Think I could live just fine without it, thanks.

both MaleShep and FemShep suck to be honest with you. But FemShep is WAY WAY WAY worse than MaleShep. I can't even play as FemShep because her tone is so annoying. MaleShep is a bit whiny.....

of all the voice actors in this game, the Sheps are the worst. Joker, Miranda, Garrus are so much more believable as characters compared to Shep

Both voice actors did a great job, but I think Mark Meer was the better of the two.

Some of Meer's critics claim he doesn't put enough emotion into his delivery, but they are missing the point. He's intentionally playing Shepard as a no-nonsense, straight to the point Stoic. And in that his performance gives the character a lot of authenticity. His voice acting reminded me of some Staff NCOs and Mustangs (officers that used to be enlisted men) I knew while I was in the Marine Corps.

Hale is one of the best voice actors in the business, but I think Meer actually does a better job than her in this series. She tends to over emote with some of Shepard's lines, IMO.

 Mark meer is an amazing voice actor.  Jennifer Hale, not so much IMHO.

They're both good but I prefer Hale's voice. She usually does the voice acting much better in my opinion.

I just wonder if his romance conversations were done with the LI actors in the same room. The conversations with Miranda are awful. "Oh I'm definitely interested".

I watched ''commander shepard is a jerk'' videos as suggested.... lol, just lol... I nearly fell out my chair when he punched the journalist! Meer definately suits renegade!!!
