 a matter of personal opinon...:P

Jennifer Hale: 239 works.
Mark Meer: 27 works.

The producers prefer her, because she is popular, because she is a great voice actress according to the majority.

If you don't like her, then that's a personal opinon.  Hale is better, and that's fact.

Assuming we're just talking about ME, it's NOT a fact Hale that is better. Do you know the difference between F/O? I think you don't. Just like Golden's preference is just his opinion, so is yours. And that's a fact. You insecure FemShep fans make me laugh.

I'm not even going to become further involved on this topic, seeing as I'm talking to people who can't tell the difference between an opinion an a fact. *cough*

Meer did the biotic god as well. That makes him awesome. Period.

Agreed. Meer's range seems leaps and bounds ahead of Hale's. Just because Meer respects player's enough not to try to trample all over their Sheps characterization by going from a shrieking banshee to someone who wants to pet puppies does not make him a bad voice actor.

I'm in love with this comment. <3

Thanks.

It just irks me when people say Meer has no range despite the guy saying he voiced Shepard like that on purpose. <_< (and really I loved that about my dude Shep. I loved that always sounded consistent even when I go from paragon to renegade.) It seems like he simply lost his temper as opposed to gone completely off the handle.

Means nothing to me, I just go by how they sound....your flogging a dead horse, she's been in the industry longer, that doesn't prerequisite talent....some prefer Hales extremity, some prefer Meer's subtlety.....sooooo....you have aproblem because there are people with difference preferences to your own?........ooookay....

While I am a big fan of Hale, I have to say I prefer meer in ME.

At least with Meer you have consistency, with hale you never know what tone she will take. The paraphrase system is bad enough without the VA muddying it even further.

I am NOT dissing Hale here, just wanting people to give meer credit. Hell the very fact people don't realize how wide his voice range is... Thats a compliment! Remember that camp gay elf in DA while searching for that missing wife? Meer. As mentioned before, the biotic god? Meer. Meer has even played as a salarian a few times.

With hale, while her voice is fantastic, I can usually tell its her. Actually now that I mention it, she is starting to get Will smith syndrome. I'm starting to see less and less the character she is acting, and more that its hale. (Same with blum, their both awesome, but a little too much exposure man. Bulletstorm was all hale and blum, not trishka and whatever the main characters name was)

People need to stop arguing about who is the better voice actor/actress, when we should be arguing about more important things, like who is the better looking woman?

Think about this. Meer voiced Mordin for the E3 demo. He also voiced Wrex ( since neither the voice actors were involved with ME3 VO prior to E3).
Not to mention he did Biotic God, salarians, and some minor stuff in DA2.

And you would never guess it's Meer.

Hale? I ALWAYS recognize her. Before I knew who Hale is I instantly recognized FemShep in Bastila and in female SWTOR trooper and in that Jedi also in SWTOR. And then when I saw footage of Bulletstorm, yeah I was 100% sure it's Hale, and I was right.

I was gonna write a response to this, but this dude nailed it.

There's no fact, and trying to make Hale = better VO actress a fact, only proves how insecure you are and want to validate your point.

Hale is not a better VO actress. Just more popular. Meer has loads of talents. They're both good, but one can't say Hale or Meer is better and state it as a fact. It's only just an opinion.

I'm an actor and my opinion is that in ME Hale tries way too hard while Meer does quite the opposite, in the end Meer sounding a lot better, Femshep making me wanna rip my ears off.

Perhaps you would never guess it's Meer.  You're like the kid who enjoyed the Jack in the Box a little too much.
When his voice wasn't modified(minus Hanar), I could always tell;  he has no range(seemingly).

Well, it's certainly not a one-to-one relationship.  This applies to any artistic field, really.

Think about it this way, hon... The smoking hot man in my icon has been in all the commercials and advertisements for Mass Effect, and the Aryan Princess if your icon took years and years to be approved. Less than twenty percent of Mass Effect players use your Shepard, and the rest use mine.

So, by your logic, male Shepard is in fact the better one because he's used more often. Mark Meer wins.

Or, we can use my logic, and accept that the Hale has been in more works than Meer, but that doesn't make her "better" or your preference for her a "fact." You can like her and think she's better, but that's just your opinion. If we use your logic to craft "facts," the "fact" would be that male Shepard is superior.

I think Jennifer Hale does a better Commander Shepard, then Meer. That's not same as saying Hale is superior to Meer in terms of voice acting. In truth, I think Meer is excellent, and he has surprised me before when I heard him as the elf Jethann in Dragon Age 2 and the Vorcha Crash mentioned. Meer is good, but I just prefer Hale as Shepard. =)

he also did a good job with Tug (Leliana's dwarf buddy in Lelianas song). and (I assume it was him) did a pretty decent job imitating mordins VA's voice in the E3 and SDCC demos.

To me, Meer is Shepard.

If I don't hear Meer... I don't hear Shepard.

Hale is a sassier version of Shepard, but I never considered her to be "the" Commander Shepard...

Oh come on. Are we doing this again? Meer doesn't need to be 'cut a break'. He has his own army of fans who jump on anyone who dares say he's not perfect. He's not some adorable underdog that needs to be protected from the big bad Hale fans who are omg mean to him.

And it's all the same argument. "He is THE voice of Shepard!" "He is the biotic god!" "He is an elven prostitute!"

I really don't care about him. I only play maleShep to get into Jack's pants. He does a crap job with the romance scenes with her, but that doesn't matter to me because I'm not listening to him, I'm listening to her.

Christ on a bike, we're getting into this again? Seriously, guys, this is probably the one argument in the ME fandom that will be fought out until the end of time. It goes right hand in hand with the Fem/ManShep debate, actually. I don't understand why people still waste their time duking it out over this.

I have nothing against Meer however i find alot of his dialogue sounds like he's reading aloud a school report. I don't blame Meer but i blame the fact the shepherd has barley any personality and when surrounded by NPCs with actual depth and personality, he looks like an unwashed sock in a fruit basket. Every single dialogue makes him sound like robot "I'm Commander Shepherd" <Nod Head> "The Reapers are coming to kill us" <Shake fist>

I find Mark Meer's ability to manipulate his voice from several angles- pitch, how nasal it is, whether it sounds 'old' or 'young'- to be incredible.

I also think he made male Shep sound like two steps from derptard. I have no idea why. but there's so little emotional inflection that he actually manages to sound like a generic NPC, whereas all these other characters have a richness brought around by his voice. It annoys me, because I consider it a waste.

Oh, gee, I wonder if that's because Hale has been in the actor business a lot longer than Meer. Doesn't say anything about their performance.

I simply like Meer because in some of his roles, you can't tell it's him. For example, he played as a vorcha and the quarian captain. I didn't know that until it was pointed out to me.

I can almost always tell if Hale's doing the voice for a character, and while she's good, it tends to become a little boring after a while.

I like Meer too. Actually, I like him better than Hale, whom I think tends to overact at times.
