-I took an act 3 save and did this DLC from it.  so... why the hell is my  Hawke  engaging in dialogue with Mom  at the end of it?

****SPOILERS*****

If it's the same scene as I got, in front of the fireplace ( i played with a post-game save) then it's just Hawke imagining his/her conversation. Notice how Hawke closes her eyes, then they talk, then she opens them again and is standing alone. I found it incredibly heartbreaking and touching. :crying:

Okay got a bit farther into the DLC.

1. Yes more griping about Sebastian. Was promised he had some speaking lines in there ... and so far 3 cutscenes and ... a few lines out of combat. Good lord Varric and Aveline talk the entire time. I'm just going to bring them! I know I keep bringing it us, but having 3 companions with me and two doing ALL the talking? That's BS in my book. I'm sure Sebastian could have said something as the main dude was seriously laying the smackdown.

2. Kudos on that Coryd .. er ... dude guy. He was a PITa even on Casual. Had to keep moving and think quick. And Varric had some damn funny lines!

3. What were you guys smoking when you made the genlock alphas and that one with the shield O.O They are HARD!! Love them though!

4. The key thing? Awesome idea! Shame my game is in post stage now so won't use it much, but my playthrough I am going in now (3rd) I will see how it works in game. THough hoping you can take it into your game and it doesn't go poof ... I just feel bad for the dwarf I yanked that sucker out of (I'm a mage hehe)

5. The place is awesome looking to explore. Love the new environment and puzzles I've found as well as the lore.

With Sebastian, breaking my arse getting through the romance and all for me to finish him, killing Anders and I got NOTHING from him, just staring into space.

Look BioWare .. if you make ANY character ... even DLC ones ... be CONSISTENT!  Please if you have any flags there about romances, things that happen, quest related, bring them into your new DLC.  I know some might not be bothered by it, but if your character romanced Merrill or Anders, or Isabella .. or Fenris, yet they never acknowledged it in any DLC wouldn't you be ticked off?

I'm still going to continue playing but this glaring thing really irks me.  Please, BioWare, in any later games you make, be CONSISTENT EVEN WITH DLC!  I know everyone didn't get Sebastian, but I know you can make flags for code! Image IPB

If you read elsewhere something does trigger with a Sebastian romance but I guess the triggers are random

Really?  Ugh, I'm going to read through this all after I finish with my playthrough.  Stupid dang triggers ....

ADD:  I read through most of the feedback here so I don't think it's in ehre.  Does anyone know where I can find the link to the post (saying something happens with Sebastian's trigger if romanced?)  He honestly was dang quiet for me except at conversation trigger points ....

Excellent dlc. Really well done. I can tell a lot of time and effort went into it. These are the positives and negatives of it from my perspective.
The good.
+Bringing back all the major voice actors. New banter and references to the romances.
+Completely new and interesting environments.
+Revolves around Hawke's family. A subject I don't think the main game explored enough.
+Added some very interesting lore to the world.
+Interesting choice at the end.
+New enemies and no waves. Thank God.
+Difficulty upped some.
+Very well done boss fight.

The nitpicks.
-The key weapon designs I've seen (mage staff and bow) look ridiculous. In a bad way.
-Decent length but would still like to see it be a little longer. It took me about 3 hours.
-The side quests were too simple.
-The achievements were too easy.

The verdict.
9/10. Really well done dlc that flows naturally with the rest of the game. Great dialogue, good story and lore with just a few negatives. The second best Bioware dlc yet behind LotSB imo. Keep it up and get to work on another one dlc team!

We probably already found it and don't realise it's a secret thing. Do you have to have specific party-members with you or something?

Trust me, when someone finds it, you'll know. It's not subtle.

No, not subtle at all.

^apparently there's some big easter egg in this DLC.

Actually, this whole DLC is an easter egg. I couldn't stop thinking about BG2's Watcher's keep when going through this game. The similarities seemed quite deliberate at times.

I liked it. I loved the deep roads part, it felt just like the DAO deep roads.

What i disliked was the ridiculously high HP Genlocks. That just made fighting them tedious, there is nothing worse than MMO health bosses. I also disliked the final battle. I just don't like ones that require me to jump through hoops rather than actually fight.

Played it last night.
Overall, it was worth the buy. I enjoyed the new enemies, the setting was appropriate and very cool. The puzzles were ok, nothing real spectacular, but a nice change.

The one thing I didn't like is the direction the art is going in regards to equipment. I like the idea of the key, the upgradable weapon, but I don't agree with the art direction on it. It looks to be on the ridiculous side of stylized.

8/10 Raanz total rating. :)

First off, thank you Bioware for bringing back the VAs for the DLC. It made it really come alive for me (even though Fenris was still as aloof as always), the banter was wonderful, some of the interactions were laugh aloud funny and some heartbreaking..
I really enjoyed the combat, I went in thinking I was going to breeze through on Hard and got my intestines handed to me quickly enough to send me scampering for a revamp of my tactics and strategies - and I had a blast beating the final boss.
Puzzles and hidden nooks and crannies were also cool!
Cons: I want more!

I fully intend to write a longer review once I'm not lurking from work... but I just wanted to mention that I thought Anders referring to one of his Awakening epilogues with Isabella (about spreading rumors he'd become a pirate when he left the Wardens and he'd dropped her name) was really cool.

Even though I still think DA2 is big step back from Origins, this DLC blows all the Origins DLC away. It had a good story, was visually interesting, and addressed the problem with combat. The battles felt like real effort and thought were put into them instead of just throwing waves of generic enemies at you. Good stuff. Worth the full $10? In my opinion, yes. If future DLC is this good I'll buy it all.

i have a legacy secret found thread here, but as mentioned there i won't spoil the solution how to "get there" just yet.but as also mentioned there, if you want a challenge in da2, search for this "easteregg" (which is in fact a hidden boss battle =D)

LOL

I don't think a fight with a bunch of archers is the Easter Egg that Laidlaw and the other devs were talking about.

read the whole thread, it starts with a fight with "some" (actually it must be 30+ but ok) archers and ends with a huge boss fight. so well trust me, it is the secret they are talking about.

DLC is great (found a way to work around the fatal bug until a patch is installed) for the most part. Only thing I find lacking is the weapon. It pretty much blows in comparison to the item pack weapons. And despite what you've heard, the weapon does NOT level up with you (ala Fadeshear or Malcolm's Honor) What it does do, I think, is pretty much front load one of three versions of the weapon; An Act 1 version, an Act 2 version, and an Act 3 version and depending on what act you do the DLC in, will depend on what version of the weapon you get.

Same goes for the Warden armor you get and other "trinkets". So the breakdown for me goes a bit like this:

Overall, a great DLC. FAAAAAR better than anything in Origins. (which isnt saying much from my PoV because I hated Origins to begin with compared to DA2.) There is, however, good and bad news to go along with this:

The good news: Great DLC (as Ive said) and best played in Act 3 so that you get the "full" benefit from the gear/items within. Which in turn indirectly gives Act 3 that extra "beef" alot of folks wanted from it.

The bad news: When played in any Act other than 3, the gear/items in this DLC pretty much suck when compared to the recent item pack DLC release and youll just end up tossing the gear out in a level or two. My advice; Play Legacy just as you're starting up Act 3 before anything else.

(to topic at hand) - I'll just wait a month or so for it to be up on the dragon age wiki (and itll be there lol) and find this easter egg then.  Or, a week or so and do some "googling" on the topic.  Im sure it'll turn up by then Image IPB

I enjoyed the DLC quite a lot. It has a lot of production value (new and improved locations and enviroments, new enemy models, new dialogue and banter), and blows any DA:O DLC out of the water. Which is not that hard, but still, a huge improvement over past offerings.

That said, the game looks somewhat dated, and I'm still not that fond of the cartoonish general art direction of DA2. Then again I guess it doesn't make sense to change the art style in a DLC, so at least it's coherent with the main game.

The enviroments are a little bit more open, that's a step up from the narrow corridors and allows for mild exploration. Good to see a few puzzles back, even though they are far from challenging. I'm not sure if introducing multi-phase (and MMO-like) boss fights is good for a single player game. While the fight was well done and entertaining, it's a hassle to manualy move every companion, the KI is useless when faced which somewhat complex encounters. Oh, great to see waves are toned down a lot, as are exploding enemies (I take it patch 1.03 did that?).

Gameplay aside, it offers lots of content I care about - lore, dialogue and banter (and I really like "sarcastic" Hawke, she had some great lines). So, all in all, it was well worth my money, and somewhat better then I expected it to be. Keep up the good work.

The stupid bug with keyboard movement keys when the party gets stucked and cannot be moved with AWSD unless a Right Mouse Click is done before to unlock it is still there!

Being stuck in NM is, well, a nightmare!

I thought the final battle was excellent. Corypheus animations was nicely done especially during the cutscene, it looked very cool. I liked the lore involving one of the old gods and actually battling him. There were fewer waves of enemies spawning this time (at least it seemed to me), which is a good thing. Take a cue from something I read an an interview with developer DICE and what they're doing with Battlefield 3, have fewer enemies with more intellegent AI making enemies tougher. Waves of enemies does dumb down combat and renders tactics and strategy practicallly useless, making the game just another typical hack n' slash'er. I think dlc should be serial almost episodic, with one being a continuation of the other directly or indirectly, yet somehow tying into the main plot threads of the main game. I'm assuming thats what this one is doing with references to the Warden Commander, the Exalted Ages, old gods, Hawke and the Wardens, etc. I was disappointed there were no resources to collect yet plenty of junk and health instead. I don't see the point to having junk as loot, why not have weapons or armor that are lower than what you have so you can collect and sell later. Please note my review is based on my first playthrough of it, post-campaign. I'm optimistically anticipating future releases and giving this one 8.8 out of 10.

Edit:  After going back and reading some of the reviews, I agree with the general consensus that this dlc is superior to past offerings.  Also, as I stated above prior to reading other reviews but also agree, the boss battle was awesome and epic.  I'm not one that ever really cared for party banter so the fact that it's there or wasn't is indifferent to me altogether.
