I don't see the point to having junk as loot,

Indeed.

How many "stale biscuits"  did you guys find in this DLC?

On a humorous  aside.. I managed to find a "Large Gall bladder".  Not quite sure what to make of that, but any DLC that has "Large Gall Bladders" as loot can't be all that bad.Image IPB

Can't you just give Merril all those stale biscuits?

Judy-in-France says:

Started with a saved endgame from DA2:

F!Hawke, templar based  2 handed warrior, level 21.
Sebastian (LI friendmanced).
Fenris.
Grey warden Bethany.

Good graphics, good storyline that remained consistent. I was very happy to be able to fight tactically as I could see the enemy rather than the awful wave combat.

Good party chatter going on, and even better references to the state of the LI plotline. Apparently my Hawke is now married to the Prince (?!) and the wedding was beautiful. Bethany apologised for not being there. Huzzah!
Lots of chat from Sebastian too... :) (now all you need to do is show us the wedding in a Starkhaven DLC...hint.)

It took just over 2 hours to play through, and I must say that I thought the gameplay was well worth the price.

Only negatives: none of the armour found was any better than the one already equipped. I didn't like the Hale key/sword, too cartoony.

Otherwise excellent job!

9/10

Good
+ Combat encounters were much better than DAII Original Campaign (OC).  It's been said over and over and I agree: having fewer, smarter enemies is good.
+ I think this was the best quest for Hawke.  He was trying to figure something out that I wanted him to figure out.  So I was more connected to him here than in other quests.  I liked Larius's line about how observant and curious Hawke's father was as I'd like to imagine a mage Hawke as something of a thinker, investigator or problem solver.  So finding a similarity in another character's words was cool.
+ Party banter and new lines on click throughout makes the DLC feel more polished and important.
+ I thought the environments look better than DA2 OC's even though it's the same engine--the prison tower being my favorite area.

The Neutral to Not Great
- I didn't think the decision near the end was all that interesting.  One character just didn't make a very compelling argument on her behalf at all.  Also, I didn't know these characters enough to make deciding tough.  With Morrigan, I knew the character.  With the Architect I'd been pursuing him for 20 or so hours.  With these two, well, it felt tacked on.  It didn't cause me to question anything really.
- I'm a little disappointed that I couldn't make Hawke react to something that I think could turn into a problem down the road (happens towards the end) given that I knew what was up while Hawke didn't.  (It would be more forgivable if I knew why Hawke didn't know and thus felt sorry for him.)  These sort of moments make Hawke look weak and put distance between him and the player.  Though part of my reaction here is due to my having played DAO and Hawke having not, and it's easy to forget that especially when you're in observer mode while gaming (instead of feeling like you have agency and are the character).

Overall, I thought it was a great DLC.  I thought the companion side quests in DAII OC were already high quality--at least in terms of story.  But the combat in Legacy is much better, and this is Hawke's best moment and probably the best example of touching on and doing something with some of the interesting lore presented in Origins.

Whoa, really? That's a pretty big bombshell to drop offscreen. But nifty though.

I liked it. I took my post-campaign femMage!Hawke, with rivalmanced Sebastian, Varric and templar Carver (lev 26 at start).

Storywise, the boss had a nice epic touch for a DLC. Don't know how I would feel if I'd defeated him during Act 1...but during Act 3 I felt properly bad*** enough for such a feat.

I liked the battle changes, that seemed more fluid than the waves jumping out of the sky. I liked the final battle strategizing I had to do, and the puzzle - esp once I realized I had to go back to it. I really liked all the companion banter! Very funny, and nice to see Sebastian included a bit more -- like he's finally on the same page as everyone else. I especially appreciated the closure I felt the sibling storyline received; classy.

I *really* appreciate, in principle, the acknowledgement the Sebastian friendmance receives (I hear), but this makes me doubly sad about a big con: that with my 100% rivalmanced Sebastian there is no mention at all of our romance from lil bro Carver or anyone else. I know he's waiting to "offer" me a prince, but it'd be nice to know we were at least ...dating?? Or mooning? Or something?

I also wasn't too keen on all the "junk" I collected, but I did like being able to go back to Kirkwall briefly and sell towards the end of the Carta hideout. So no big.

Only noticed one minor, possible(?) PC bug. I entered the last level and was standing before the door to the previous level...and the name of the level didn't seem right (mousing over the door I guess I'd just passed through, it said "Daneken's Floor" instead of Rhiannon's). Confused me for a moment about whether I was supposed to go thru the door; but maybe it's correct and when I left Rhiannon's floor, I went up some stairs during the transition? But, like I said, minor.

Liked it. Great job!

EDIT: eek, sorry for any spoilers...tried to edit out. Seems weird to ask for feedback under no spoilers, so didn't realize...but I guess it's more for folks who haven't downloaded yet...?

I only just started Legacy about 5 minutes ago but I've either hit a glitch or... dunno what it is. Playing Legacy post campaign. Sided with the mages and Bethany is alive. Yet when she's brought to the DLC site she actually says the circle let her come. I mean.. what? What circle? Whose permission did you need at this point anyway?

So much for no spoilers. ;)  Makes me want to try it with my Sebastian rivalmance playthrough.

No Bug. The story is assumed to take place prior to the Endgame. If Bethany is still alive at the end of Act 1, she's either a mage of the Circle, or a Warden. Her dialogue explains how she temporarilly got away from either group to join you during Legacy.

I was very surprised by this DLC. Without a doubt the best DLC for the Dragon Age series. Lot of story, your companions were very active in dialogue, fun combat and enemies, took me about 4 hours on normal because I was exploring the levels.
THIS should have been DA2 main plot. I think if Bioware had gone with this for the main game the feedback may have been much better. A solid 8/10 for me.

I feel like it fixed a lot of the combat issues, but it didn't really add anything to the story. It had another empty ending. Especially if you took Carver.

@Bioware, nicely done DLC. I rate it at 8.5

And hopefully, this is not the end of the line of well-crafted DLC for DA2. :P

Ahh, that makes sense. I just figured since BW said the dialogue changed based on where you were in the game, that it would also notice if you had already finished the main campaign.

I just finished playing Legacy on my XBox and i liked it.
Good story, good graphics and enough hours of gameplay. Well done, Bioware.
I hope there will be more DLC, or a Awakening like expansion, in the near future.

Can't wait for Dragon Age 3.

I just finshed my first playthrough of Legacy and I really enjoyed it. The biggest strengths of this DLC are the beautiful, new locations, adventuring with SiblingHawke, and a compelling primary story arc.

I also think having the voice actors for all companions return is an absolutely necessary step forward that should never be undone. This is something that, up until now, Bioware has never been able to do. I hope this is a precedent met by all future Bioware DLCs.

All I have to say right now is that it's four in the morning and I just finished playing Legacy for the first time. I was going to be sensible and finish it tomorrow and ... well, that just didn't happen because I had to see how it ended. (I admit that I turned the last battle down onto Casual. Hey, it'll give me something new to do next time I play it.)

My favourite Dragon Age DLC so far! The only downside I can see is that now I'll want them all to be this great.

I have to say this was very well done. It's what the main game should have been but never was. The story was intriguing and compelling, the decision at the end made sense to me as Hawke was forced to make one without perfect information, and the chance to rethink your path I thought went very well. There was also a sense of urgency throughout that gave a flow to the story (something the main game lacked in it's entirety) The final fight was more fun than any in the main game. The placement and amount of enemies made sense (I hated the falling out of the sky bit...was too cartoony) and the party banter was relevant (Izzy, Varric, and Bethany). I was pleasantly surprised by the reveal at the end...I had anticipated something different going back to what Rhiordan had said during Origins. Taking out of the equation some of the gameplay mechanics that I don't like from DA2 as a whole, this DLC was very well done and thought out. A pleasant play, and imho the one real bright spot from the DA2 team...a delivered promise.

Well, well Bioware do you see the glowing reviews when you do things properly? have you learned your lesson bout not half assing products? i certinly hope so.

Just imagine had you put this effort into DA2, hindsight is a **** i suppose

I loved 99% of Legacy: another jewel crafted by BioWare.Image IPB

Freedom of choice for party members, complete voiceovers to include banter, tons of new lore, new artwork for darkspawn, AI for darkspawn was great, memorable Boss Battles, new environments, the list goes on.

But the most important aspect to me was that BioWare once again engineered a great storyline, and storyline is everything in a RPG.Image IPB

The only thing I would have liked to have seen changed was the items, as they should have matched or exceeded their counterparts in the Item Pack DLCs. If you're using items and weapons that have better stats, then you aren't about to switch them out.

Legacy (pc) bottomline for me: 8.5 out of 10

+ for overall being how DA 2 should've been from the start

- for sticking with bad habits like enemy waves and
for boss fight companion ai glitches and bugs.

I rated Legacy 9 out of 10, and I forgot to mention I wrote a player review for it on a gaming website.Image IPB
