It might be because I played on PC, but I didn't actually have any problems with companion pathfinding in the final battle. The one or two times someone got stuck I would pause, order the rest of the party off somewhere safe, and then manually direct the lost sheep around the obstacles. It actually reminded me a bit of Origins in that regard, like when I used to guide everyone away from an ogre at the first sign of a stomp or something.
My companions also obeyed the 'hold' command just fine.
On PC, I didn't have any pathfinding issues on the final battle. But, the issue with the HOLD command is that if you travel a certain distance away from the main group, the start to follow you. SO, you can't have them hold at the far end of the final boss room and go clear over to the other side. HOLD works unless you get too far away. In DAO, the people stood their ground unless you moved to an entirely new area, if I recall.
I also miss the ability to cast Inferno and Fireballs when not in battle so you can just hammer people in an adjacent room....why was this removed!??!!?!?! Would have been useful against the Carta in this DLC.

Wasn't going to bother getting Legacy based on the reviews I've seen so far which call it a broken, short, shoddy cash-in. Normally, anything new by Bioware would be day-one purchase. But been burned too often recently with The Arrival, Witch Hunt, Dragon Age 2 and, to a lesser extent, Awakenings.
But everyone posting here seems to love Legacy. Confirmation bias? People who loved DA2 are the only ones buying it? Or is it actually an improvement over all the issues from DA2?

It is an improvement over the lack of lore and did give us a feeling of purpose other than just rising above being poor to champion. Now I know Hawke was ment for greatness not just a pebble in the pond.

One of the most pitiful DLC's of all-time. Extremely short, glitched, and the finale was perhaps the stupidest boss fight in the history of console gaming.
Most disappointing games of all-time:
1. Perfect Dark Zero
2. Dragon Age II
3. Mass Effect 2
This guy's Most disappointing of all time sig matches my opinion. So I'm thinking my opinion of Legacy MIGHT match his as well
Perfect Dark 1, DAO, ME1 are in my top 25 games of all time list, and ME2 doesnt crack the top 200

Actually gamers who dislike DA2 like Legacy. Many are saying Legacy is what DA2 should have been. One of the better DLCs to come from Bioware. I played it on the PC. I had no problems. I got about 4 to 5 hors of game play. The final boss was fun. Many of the Alpha darkspawn had fun attacks. No glitches or bugs marred my playthroughs.
Legacy also addressed some of the concerns of the fans. All in all I give it an 8.5 out of ten.

Yeah. I don't know what that crackpot was smoking. I got a solid 6 hours out of this and the only issues i had was due to bad drivers, so... If this is a glimpse of what's to come, then i'll bite. Anything to improve the experience overall. The people who claim to 2 hour this one are the casual players... They can hardly apreciate it from an angle where half of the DLC is thrown away already just there. I don't really think their opinion matters on the subject of combat balance since all it tells us is that they can't handle games in general.Morroian wrote...

Balance was great and i even learned that i missed some kind of secret boss. Lore was expanded and fleshed out a lot. I really loved this. If all of DA2 was like this... man.

And yet, you play through the DLCs for games you don't like. Obvious masochist, as well as troll?

The story was awesome as well, I didn't feel unnecessary like Return to Ostagar. It all felt like a Zelda dungeon sometimes, with character's constantly bulding up tension against the last boss. And the fights were hard and varied, which improved boss fights. Overall a great DLC, I hope they'll release another well crafted quest, preferably with the Warden from the first game meeting Hawke.

I personally rate DA:O as the better game overall, but Legacy's a vast improvement on a lot of the encounter/area issues in DA2 - would definitely recommend picking it up.BeefoTheBold wrote...

I dislike Dragon Age 2 and was unsure if i would buy the Legacy DLC. After reading through this thread i decided to try it and was positive surprised.

If I remember right that's a bug caused if you're playing using an epilogue save and killed Meredith before she finished her Mwaaaa ha ha ha villain speech - think you fix it by going back to the final Gallows save and killing her again but letting her finish her speech first so she doesn't feel the need to haunt Hawke.Yuqi wrote...
There is just one minor thing, that bugs me.If you side with the templars, and if someone could clarify if this intentional(When your past act 3) the whole meriditch convo seems to replay. Then it shows hawke sitting. Is this a bug? As Idid not get that with mage playthrough.

The best part, though, after playing through DA:O content with limited followers, or ME2 DLC with silent party members, was the party banter. Everyone returns in fine form, with some serious dialogue, some absolutely superb lines, and a return of all the major voice actors(Cassandra's actor and Leandra's actor both show up, with all the party members reprising their roles.)
There's not a lot of connection or advancement with regards to the main plot, but that's part of the beauty of DA2. It's Hawke's story, not a story about some super threatening evil taking over the world, so pocket-sized dungeons like this one fit in very, very well, and I look forwards to seeing more of them. With lore-loaded side stories, and a boss who sheds some light on one of the most controversial pieces of Thedas' history, the world feels richer, and that's what matters.
I can't wait to see more DA2 DLC, and with the quality of acting and character writing that we got from this one, I'm crossing my fingers that we'll see a DLC Act 4 at some point, covering Hawke's departure from Kirkwall(even if it would have to be completely different depending on which ending the players took.)
Can't wait for more!

Thanks to both you (and everyone else) who gave their inputs in a response to my earlier post.
I've decided not to get this DLC at this time, though I am heartened by the feedback on this being a positive step taken by Bioware towards regaining the greatness from their own previous "legacy" so to speak. This is a hard decision for me because I do still love Bioware and want to support them, but I also don't want to reward them for a very flawed DA2 and thus give incentives to skimp on the main title in the future.
Essentially, it sounds like I'll be missing out a bit here, but I'm willing to miss out a bit, suffer some short term pain, in the hopes of getting the CONSISTENT quality and standards that Bioware used to enforce.
But now I am very much hoping that this DLC will be some sort of bundled/preorder bonus for DA3.

Don't mind him he's just one of those kids trying to fit in. You know, the one's who force themselves to do something just cause they feel everyone else is. Or he could just be a mindless tool for Bioware, he has played a few of their games.Persephone wrote...

Yeah, and pretty much a lot of the same criticisms of DA2 I have for ME2... poorly-written plot, sheer removal of so many RPG elements, etc.

Sure. I've already spent the big bucks for the game itself, so getting the downloads after the fact can be an effective cure for boredom.
Is that really so strange? Sheesh.
