Wyndham pretty much summed up my opinions of Legacy too. I mean it is nice that we had a new environment to explore but still much of it was pretty straight forward and a little uninteresting. Then of course there were also some new glitches that irritated me. The most common one was the music cutting and/or stuttering out for no apparent reason. Then there was the glitch with the final boss battle. It was bad enough that the final battle was already drawn out enough, but then when I got its life bar to around barely a sliver something happened where it never seemed to drop any more no matter how much I hit the boss. Eventually the game seemed to fix itself and let me finish it off but the extra four to five minutes I wasted on doing more dodging and just trying to stay alive while hoping the game would eventually let me kill him almost made me want to quit the DLC for good.

Just finished Legacy last night.

Overall I was very impressed, and the positive feedback Legacy has received thus far is rightly given.

The environments - both the outdoor portion, and the dungeon portion - were very artistically well done. The atmosphere really helped create a mood. The dungeon design was very interesting.

The plot was interesting, although I've just done it once, as a warrior, so I have yet to see how it will change if played with different character type, with different companions, and different choice(s) made. It ties in with DA:O, involving Wardens, Darkspawn, and Deep Roads Dwarven culture.

There was some interesting lore/backstory, and this specifically works with the sibling and with Varric (haven't taken Anders yet). There was a puzzle or two, but nothing super frustrating.

Combat was challenging and different, but not too difficult (with the exception of the last boss-fight).

As far as time, I didn't really keep track, but I'm quite sure I got well over the 3 hours or so that's been advertised - probably double that. I recommend savoring this one, set your characters to walk, not run, just like you would do if you really were there, and soak up the details and atmosphere. I did only gain about 1 3/4 character levels, so perhaps I missed some things.

I only have a few minor criticisms:

- The difficulty was a bit uneven. I played through mostly on hard (at starting level 19). But turned it down to casual on the last fight after getting very frustrated. Without giving too much away, it's a very long fight, and the difficulty is mostly in path-finding and controlling your characters, and there is no break in the middle to save your game during this last marathon. So any mistakes you make mean you've lost quite a bit. I did not enjoy this battle at all. Finishing provided a sense of relief, not of accomplishment.

- I've mentioned in couple of other threads that I found the Hawke's Key Great-sword to be hideous. It was so silly looking that I refused to use it unless it was necessary for a plot point.

But overall I was very pleased, will likely play it again with different companions, and would definitely spend the money whenever they want to release something of this caliber next.

Cons: I was irritated that the final fight was too difficult for my companions' AI - they quickly burned to death. also, I couldnt find a place to avoid the same risk to myself! Mandatory burning?? not sure how i feel about that, but it's generally negative :P  and  wanted mor dialogue with the final boss, and a n non-combat solution.  and im still not QUITE sure what exactly Malcolm's role in all of that was?? he strengthened the cage by emprisoning those demons?

Pros: I liked that my companions spoke, and in some cases developed their story a bit more - esp anders. i like that banter was in. i like the IDEA of a Hawkish weapon, and espcially the ability to customize its powers (although I could have used a description of what each power DID) - shame that it doesnt level up, and that its appearance wsnt customizable :(

At the end of DA2, I was kind of loving and hating it at the same time. I didn't completely hate it nor did I completely love it. But I bought the DLC last night and finished it this morning. 4 hours.

I did experience some bugs though. Crashed a couple of times, but I did finish it. And have to say I did enjoy what it had to offer. Never thought I would buy this DLC, but I heard good things about it and I was bored. So!

Like many people pointed it out, the new locations are great. Some were more enjoyable than others. Have to say the indoors are a bit bland. I can't quite describe it, but maybe because the corridors are a bit too narrow.
The lower dungeon/deep roads part was quite nice. Enjoyed the creepy tone it possessed.
Overall the change of new environment was nice, but I think the scope of the environments are tiny therefore I did not feel very excited about visiting new locations.

Party banters are always nice. And kudos to bringing the family theme back into the picture. I enjoyed the highlighted mysteries and conversations with Carver and about Malcolm Hawke. It would have been nice to see his face, but then it would bring complications. Kind of wished the family moments were longer though.

The story arc was very interesting to see it unfold. Even though I think it brings up more questions than answers, glad to see it connect to Kirkwall in some way.

It was a bit linear, but Legacy is a DLC, not a whole game so I expected that.

Combat was a bit excruciating to go through. I laughed out loud at the new models for darkspawn. Genlocks looked like apes, and Hurlock Alphas looked like Pyramid head from Silent Hill. I just couldn't take them seriously with the newly bleached skin. I imagined them to have more like grimy skin like corruption of the body?

Some enemies pop up out of nowhere, but surprised to find some hiding.  =]

The last boss fight was awesome! Even though it was kind of repetitive fighting like Meredith was, the one saving grace for me was the voiced banter of the boss and the party. The end boss teasing Hawke and her party, the companions giving you hints and actually pushing you to finish the fight faster... that kind of thing. It was great! I smiled while I was fighting the boss. Fun fun fun. :D The banters added more tension and accelerated atmosphere.

The weapon and armor design wasn't that ... cool or super ugly for me. It wasn't really a wow either.

But the ending. The ending!!! That was just... *sniffles* AWESOME!!! That ending just made the DLC for me. It was heartwarming. That ending was worth the $10 I paid.

The animations during cutscenes was a whole lot better. (or maybe because I picked up on it a lot?) It was fluid and kept the screen moving like .... a movie. I enjoyed my Hawke being thrown back to see her back up again. A thumbs up.  But given the situation of this quest, of Hawke being a target of the Dwarven Carta, s/he should haved looked more tense.

The theme of family, I think, is the one thing that makes DA2's story differ from being that cliched, fantasy RPG. It makes the story more intimate and close. By bringing that theme back, (it was lost during Act 3 in main game), I found the story more engaging.

I loved the ending. It wasn't a really must buy unlike ME2's LoTSB, but for the great, tear-jerking ending I bought it and enjoyed it.

I just finished Legacy, and I rather liked it. The environments looked great, the fights was moderately tough (hard, 18th level), the party banter was fantastic and the story fairly solid. I'm pleased to say that the "blood of the hawke" plot made a lot more sense than I first feared, and the similarities between the Architect and Corypheus was very interesting. I too loved the ending.

There are no serious low points, but people who hate DA2 will still hate it after Legacy. I still miss the tactical camera like hell. The dlc was very linear, which always is disappointing. The fight with the carta boss was harder than the final fight, once I had figured out how to beat him. The loot was interesting, but was already obsolete since I bought the weapons pack while I was at it (serves me right for buying bonus loot perhaps). Corypheus dropped a belt or something, which was lame.

I experienced one bug. When I approached the third (?) seal I backtracked because I had missed something - the viewpoint as it turned out - and I watched the darkspawn I had already killed appoach. The cinematic was cool, but a bit silly given the circumstances.

Patch 1.3 and Legacy is a huge step in the right direction. I am ready for more.

i liked it, nothing ground-breaking though. i liked that the brontos were thrown back in and the new/variety in darkspawn. the boss fight was a good time too. However i would have liked to see more of the minor darkspawn thrown into battles for filler. Also would have liked to see some more variety in weapon drops... but enjoyable nonetheless... and i wanna giv you guys some props on the map but you messed up so much in the main game i can't.

How I'd love to play the DLC I've paid for, if EA could clear up their mess so I could play DAO 1+2 with DLC, after their registration F** up.

So far... NOT Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

so much for genlocks being the crafty bunch in the darkspawn hordes, went from being rogues and mages, to gorilla like creatures with shields.

I am one of the disapointed buying DA2 so I wanted to know hands on if bioware could still make decent dlc. It is no LotSB but the best dlc of the DA lore. The worst of DA2 for me was I couldn't relate to the caracters in DA2. I didn't recognise Anders, what a jerk and the rest what a bunch of infantile nobodies. On top of that all the rest of complaints that has been repeated over and over. This dlc is far darker than the DA2 setting so bioware should make there mind up to make games to apease a audience from 9-99 or a game for adults in dark fantasy setting with interesting rich caracters one loves or hates. And please give us the character creator back.

I loved the DLC, really enjoyed getting back to the Grey Wardens, loved the environment and story. I thought Larius and Daneaka were interesting and would have liked more characters like them in the main game, in fact, if this DLC had been part of the main game I would have not been disappointed in DA2, really glad to see new maps, no recycled maps is good.

Finished it in about 4 hours. On Normal starting at level 14. Need to play again bringing Bethany (Grey Warden) with me.

I agonized over some of the choices.....do I do this or not?

But I loved the vantage points, the characters you meet, and the lore....but now I want MORE!!!! I love the lore and the bits and pieces we learned....deepened the mystery for me.

I have now played Legacy 4 times. I have been mage, warrior, and rogue. I have played in acts 1, 2, and 3. Anders and Fenris have been the love interests. I have played with everybody in my party except Isabela. (I am counting Carver and Bethany as one, in this instance). I also was one of many disappointed in DA2. The locations/maps were disappointing and repetitive. I hate the look of the elves, except for Fenris. I can't immerse myself in it like I can with DAO (which I am still playing). And other things.

That said, I enjoyed Legacy a lot. The Tower locations, where you would expect some repetition from one floor to the next did not seem repetitive to me. I like the creepy parts of some of it (being as vague as possible for the no spoiler thing). I was set to Normal in all instances, and some battles were definitely more difficult than others. One battle I found particularly irritating because there was no autosave between the lengthy blah blah blah and the fighting, so every time I had to begin again I had to talk again. I guess I just need to do better. I enjoyed the background chatter among the companions, and that it provided some more depth to many of the characters. Even Sebastion had some pertinent things to say. I liked that Hawke took more part, although I still miss being able to converse with somebody whenever I want. There were a couple of moments when an actual conversation could have had significant meaning.

I felt more a part of Legacy than any other aspect of DA2. The lack of obviously recycled elements helps, the background dialog, the individual reactions, all helped me get into my character more.

One of the things lacking in DA2 was a unifier. The qunari and mage/templar issues overlapped some but are basically separate. In DAO you had the blight and the archdemon to bind the game/story together. It colored the relationships, etc. Bioware, you should have used Legacy to bind DA2. You could still have set it up to play in different acts, depending on player preference, add a few conversations "I'm not ready to talk about Father, yet" "Mother/Carver/Bethany do you know what this memento of Father's means" "They're all gone. Maybe it's time". Throw in some random Carta cultist battles until the quest is over and then some follow up dialogs and background banter. You've got a way to make the game more cohesive, a better story, and so many ways in which all the characters could have been more fully developed.

BTW, I like the original darkspawn best. Genlocks are from dwarves (so why are there genlock emissaries), shrieks from elves, hurlocks from humans and ogres from qunari. The difference in sizes seem more proportional and likely than in DA2 or Legacy. Also, don't you think shriek emissaries would be creepy and ogre emissaries just bad-to-the-bone? After all, elves and qunari have mages.

When to play? In my opinion is that the best time to play is either just before the deep roads expedition in Act 1, so you can take your sibling or at the beginning of Act III, after your love interest is as developed as its going to get. (I wouldn't say the 'romantic' dialog, such as it is, should be a big factor in your decision). I didn't see enough difference between acts 2 and 3 to really care. I have not always had Varric in my party or always had a mage, just so you know.

I reckon this is long enough. Nobody's paying me by the word, LOL!

Great piece of DLC. Great reveals, new locations, new darkspawn great especially the genlock alpha. Issue would be where does it fit in the greater scheme aside from kill those trying to kill me.

I started Legacy last night, and I can already tell that the combat is vast improvement from DA2's combat. Gone are the mindless waves; re-inforcements now come at a better pace as well as their attacks are spread more out. Very nice :)

The only thing I was a bit confused about was the way Leagacy started; I clicked the icon upstairs (the lion?) and then I was taken to the Vista where Varric says something about that there shouldn't even be a here...

I also liked the open vistas at the beginning of Legacy...

I do not care if it is good or not. The original game was a half-baked rip-off, so I am not giving them a penny more.

I was not there and I have not played ME3 yet. And what does ME3 and an event have to do with the fact that a Feedback thread is for FEEDBACK of a product, not mindless hating?

The purpose of a feedback thread dedicated to Legacy is to give your opinion on that product. It is assume when you post in this forum that you have played the DLC. If you want to gripe about not playing the DLC because of your opinion of DA2 main game there are other threads for that.

If you want to lavish praise on DA2 main game this thread is not the place either. This thread is aimed at what purchasers of the DLC thought about it.

Late to share my opinion played the dlc the day it came out. Well worth the $10.00 the length of the game was good and the few hidden quest and puzzles. The end fight was hard and well worth it to be challenged by a boss again. The story awesome, it tied in the history of the darkspawn w/ the origins stories your warden was told by Wynn. I think it's fair to say all of us like Hawk but do miss our Wardens and a taste here and there from the Orgins story is good. only complaint was the end boss fight where you would tell party to hold and next thing I know my tanks are running thru the flames. It took a few trys to down the boss LOL

I'm with you 100% I miss the conversations w/ the original party in orgins ... Awakenings took that away, I figured that the next full game would bring it back

By that do you mean you miss being able to talk to them whenever, or miss the original companions in Origins?

Just finished it yesterday, was pretty good, enjoyed it. I especially liked the extra dialogues from all my party members, and the ending was great. Keep up the good work Bioware, maybe next time introduce a party member who we can actually kiss! =3=
