Overall I was very impressed, and the positive feedback Legacy has received thus far is rightly given.
The environments - both the outdoor portion, and the dungeon portion - were very artistically well done. The atmosphere really helped create a mood. The dungeon design was very interesting.
The plot was interesting, although I've just done it once, as a warrior, so I have yet to see how it will change if played with different character type, with different companions, and different choice(s) made. It ties in with DA:O, involving Wardens, Darkspawn, and Deep Roads Dwarven culture.
There was some interesting lore/backstory, and this specifically works with the sibling and with Varric (haven't taken Anders yet). There was a puzzle or two, but nothing super frustrating.
Combat was challenging and different, but not too difficult (with the exception of the last boss-fight).
As far as time, I didn't really keep track, but I'm quite sure I got well over the 3 hours or so that's been advertised - probably double that. I recommend savoring this one, set your characters to walk, not run, just like you would do if you really were there, and soak up the details and atmosphere. I did only gain about 1 3/4 character levels, so perhaps I missed some things.
I only have a few minor criticisms:
- The difficulty was a bit uneven. I played through mostly on hard (at starting level 19). But turned it down to casual on the last fight after getting very frustrated. Without giving too much away, it's a very long fight, and the difficulty is mostly in path-finding and controlling your characters, and there is no break in the middle to save your game during this last marathon. So any mistakes you make mean you've lost quite a bit. I did not enjoy this battle at all. Finishing provided a sense of relief, not of accomplishment.
- I've mentioned in couple of other threads that I found the Hawke's Key Great-sword to be hideous. It was so silly looking that I refused to use it unless it was necessary for a plot point.
But overall I was very pleased, will likely play it again with different companions, and would definitely spend the money whenever they want to release something of this caliber next.

Pros: I liked that my companions spoke, and in some cases developed their story a bit more - esp anders. i like that banter was in. i like the IDEA of a Hawkish weapon, and espcially the ability to customize its powers (although I could have used a description of what each power DID) - shame that it doesnt level up, and that its appearance wsnt customizable

I did experience some bugs though. Crashed a couple of times, but I did finish it. And have to say I did enjoy what it had to offer. Never thought I would buy this DLC, but I heard good things about it and I was bored. So!
Like many people pointed it out, the new locations are great. Some were more enjoyable than others. Have to say the indoors are a bit bland. I can't quite describe it, but maybe because the corridors are a bit too narrow.
The lower dungeon/deep roads part was quite nice. Enjoyed the creepy tone it possessed.
Overall the change of new environment was nice, but I think the scope of the environments are tiny therefore I did not feel very excited about visiting new locations.
Party banters are always nice. And kudos to bringing the family theme back into the picture. I enjoyed the highlighted mysteries and conversations with Carver and about Malcolm Hawke. It would have been nice to see his face, but then it would bring complications. Kind of wished the family moments were longer though.
The story arc was very interesting to see it unfold. Even though I think it brings up more questions than answers, glad to see it connect to Kirkwall in some way.
It was a bit linear, but Legacy is a DLC, not a whole game so I expected that.
Combat was a bit excruciating to go through. I laughed out loud at the new models for darkspawn. Genlocks looked like apes, and Hurlock Alphas looked like Pyramid head from Silent Hill. I just couldn't take them seriously with the newly bleached skin. I imagined them to have more like grimy skin like corruption of the body?
Some enemies pop up out of nowhere, but surprised to find some hiding.
The last boss fight was awesome! Even though it was kind of repetitive fighting like Meredith was, the one saving grace for me was the voiced banter of the boss and the party. The end boss teasing Hawke and her party, the companions giving you hints and actually pushing you to finish the fight faster... that kind of thing. It was great! I smiled while I was fighting the boss. Fun fun fun.
The weapon and armor design wasn't that ... cool or super ugly for me. It wasn't really a wow either.
But the ending. The ending!!! That was just... *sniffles* AWESOME!!!
The animations during cutscenes was a whole lot better. (or maybe because I picked up on it a lot?) It was fluid and kept the screen moving like .... a movie. I enjoyed my Hawke being thrown back to see her back up again. A thumbs up. But given the situation of this quest, of Hawke being a target of the Dwarven Carta, s/he should haved looked more tense.
The theme of family, I think, is the one thing that makes DA2's story differ from being that cliched, fantasy RPG. It makes the story more intimate and close. By bringing that theme back, (it was lost during Act 3 in main game), I found the story more engaging.
I loved the ending. It wasn't a really must buy unlike ME2's LoTSB, but for the great, tear-jerking ending I bought it and enjoyed it.

There are no serious low points, but people who hate DA2 will still hate it after Legacy. I still miss the tactical camera like hell. The dlc was very linear, which always is disappointing. The fight with the carta boss was harder than the final fight, once I had figured out how to beat him. The loot was interesting, but was already obsolete since I bought the weapons pack while I was at it (serves me right for buying bonus loot perhaps). Corypheus dropped a belt or something, which was lame.
I experienced one bug. When I approached the third (?) seal I backtracked because I had missed something - the viewpoint as it turned out - and I watched the darkspawn I had already killed appoach. The cinematic was cool, but a bit silly given the circumstances.
Patch 1.3 and Legacy is a huge step in the right direction. I am ready for more.

I agonized over some of the choices.....do I do this or not?
But I loved the vantage points, the characters you meet, and the lore....but now I want MORE!!!! I love the lore and the bits and pieces we learned....deepened the mystery for me.

That said, I enjoyed Legacy a lot. The Tower locations, where you would expect some repetition from one floor to the next did not seem repetitive to me. I like the creepy parts of some of it (being as vague as possible for the no spoiler thing). I was set to Normal in all instances, and some battles were definitely more difficult than others. One battle I found particularly irritating because there was no autosave between the lengthy blah blah blah and the fighting, so every time I had to begin again I had to talk again. I guess I just need to do better. I enjoyed the background chatter among the companions, and that it provided some more depth to many of the characters. Even Sebastion had some pertinent things to say. I liked that Hawke took more part, although I still miss being able to converse with somebody whenever I want. There were a couple of moments when an actual conversation could have had significant meaning.
I felt more a part of Legacy than any other aspect of DA2. The lack of obviously recycled elements helps, the background dialog, the individual reactions, all helped me get into my character more.
One of the things lacking in DA2 was a unifier. The qunari and mage/templar issues overlapped some but are basically separate. In DAO you had the blight and the archdemon to bind the game/story together. It colored the relationships, etc. Bioware, you should have used Legacy to bind DA2. You could still have set it up to play in different acts, depending on player preference, add a few conversations "I'm not ready to talk about Father, yet" "Mother/Carver/Bethany do you know what this memento of Father's means" "They're all gone. Maybe it's time". Throw in some random Carta cultist battles until the quest is over and then some follow up dialogs and background banter. You've got a way to make the game more cohesive, a better story, and so many ways in which all the characters could have been more fully developed.
BTW, I like the original darkspawn best. Genlocks are from dwarves (so why are there genlock emissaries), shrieks from elves, hurlocks from humans and ogres from qunari. The difference in sizes seem more proportional and likely than in DA2 or Legacy. Also, don't you think shriek emissaries would be creepy and ogre emissaries just bad-to-the-bone? After all, elves and qunari have mages.
When to play? In my opinion is that the best time to play is either just before the deep roads expedition in Act 1, so you can take your sibling or at the beginning of Act III, after your love interest is as developed as its going to get. (I wouldn't say the 'romantic' dialog, such as it is, should be a big factor in your decision). I didn't see enough difference between acts 2 and 3 to really care. I have not always had Varric in my party or always had a mage, just so you know.
I reckon this is long enough. Nobody's paying me by the word, LOL!

The only thing I was a bit confused about was the way Leagacy started; I clicked the icon upstairs (the lion?) and then I was taken to the Vista where Varric says something about that there shouldn't even be a here...
I also liked the open vistas at the beginning of Legacy...

I do not care if it is good or not. The original game was a half-baked rip-off, so I am not giving them a penny more.

It's amazing how you still defend Bioware after the **** they are pulling off in ME3 and this gamecon.

I was not there and I have not played ME3 yet. And what does ME3 and an event have to do with the fact that a Feedback thread is for FEEDBACK of a product, not mindless hating?

If you want to lavish praise on DA2 main game this thread is not the place either. This thread is aimed at what purchasers of the DLC thought about it.

Whining about a game that hasn't been released yet?
Gosh.

Great piece of DLC. Great reveals, new locations, new darkspawn great especially the genlock alpha. Issue would be where does it fit in the greater scheme aside from kill those trying to kill me.
I'm with you 100% I miss the conversations w/ the original party in orgins ... Awakenings took that away, I figured that the next full game would bring it back

By that do you mean you miss being able to talk to them whenever, or miss the original companions in Origins?
