It was average but i found it hard to keep my level of enthusiasm up throughout the whole few hours. What was missing for me was an emotional connection to anything there. It was indeed personal with it involving Hawke's family but i didn't really care for any of it on an emotional level. It was interesting but that's as far as it went for me. To give you an idea of i mean by emotional connection....

In DA2- quests like prime suspect/last of your line did it for me. As well as the Bethany quest involving a certain blood mage (forgot the name). For me quests like that give the game an emotional edge which increases immersion.

Time to pull a Piers Morgan from America's Got Talent:

Here's the thing- after finally playing Legacy, I really feel like it is what the game SHOULD HAVE BEEN LIKE had they added another 8 months to the development time and it simply seems like we all paid cash to beta test and send feedback so they could properly finish the game and give us quests like LEGACY.

If more DLC's like Legacy come out, I will probably purchase them because playing decent content with great story, interesting characters, unique items and challenging enemies is why I bought DA2 in the first place, but if I have to get my main enjoyment from DLC's and speed through the rest of the game, so be it.

PS- BioWare, do something about the Junk Items already. Either take them out and just drop more coin OR create a character whom you can go to with all your "Cracked Opal's" and "Flawed Ruby's" and he/she can take a certain number of them in exchange for coin, another item, etc. In other words, please make the Junk Items have a purpose other than wasting inventory space.

Thank you for your time.

I just finished Legacy. And all I have to say right now is: wow and also this. Thanks for this great dlc.

The ending with mother was touching as was my conversation with Bethany, my sister (in the game) after completing Legacy. When I talked to Larius I got a little worried, especially since he said something about 'freeing him' and 'only I could have done it.' Foreboding for darker times, maybe.

The fight with Corypheus itself was - challenging, interesting and good ol' plain fun to do. And kudos and praises must also go the the cinematics department for the finishing cinematic cutscene in this fight. The finishing move when my Hawke finally finished Corypheus and kill him or does he? The cinematics in that scene was very well made, I find :) - and to me, probably the best as of yet.

My time clock showed 100 hours before I started Legacy and 118 hours after I was finished. This also included running around (like a chicken, I think) to find the helm of the fortress, numerous tries to get the power nexus correct. Yaah for Youtube here....but I digress.

The final level of the dlc, Legacy was also great. I'm talking about the level 'the final seal' where we meet Corypheus and defeat him. (at least for now, it seems) Like I said, the fight was challenging, both tactical and strategically. And I liked the labyrinth that suddenly came up - and at least know we know that he is a conductor of the elements. Ice came tumbling, so did fire and electricity and he also has the ability to manipulate the Earth itself, it seems. Great fight and varied, too.

When he (Corypheus) first awakens he is very confused and thinks he is dwarven lands. Great touch, btw.
And the whole golden city that was black already when they got they, maybe, also a great touch, I find.Varric's telling of the tale, especially how he ends it by saying 'allow me to take a liberty of two' mirror the whole unreliable narrator back to us, the gamers, the fans, I think.

Please continue in the same way with other story dlcs....

I almost forgot to mention the voice acting of Corypehus; stunning and great as always.

Another thing I need to mention, I feel is the way this -ahem- creature, monster, person?, looks. It really fits his voice and his appereance, both mentally as well as physically. We're not left unsire about that here we have a really, really powerfull -ahem- creature....that ends up conducting all the elements.

The above feedback sums up how I felt about it.  Great DLC, much better than anything we had in the game.  Legacy is what the Deep Roads should have been like.  I loved that there were more puzzles, although they still seem dumbed down from the ones we had in DAO.  My first playthrough of legacy was with Carver, Anders, & Varric and they all added a great deal to the story.  Maps were MUCH better and the final battle was epic.  Great writing too.

I purcharsed DAO 8 months after it had come out, based on word of mouth - that one amazing game made me look up Bioware's other projects and I purchased ME1 & ME2.   Dragon Age 2 was the first game I have ever pre-ordered, but I was disappointed with the game and therefore waited to hear more feedback before giving Legacy a chance.  I highly recommend this DLC.  It was better than all the DLC for DAO.  Makes me wonder how great DA2 could have been with a little more time.

Loved the atmosphere and really did love the genlock/hurlock alphas they are a challenge on nightmare as well as the boss fight i hope we see more boss fights pretty sure its been said but the AI is frustrating on the final boss and we did not see a smaller version of the genlock alpha shield for us to use! :P

I hope one of the Devs sees this because I don't actually know if this is the place to post something like this but I'm doing it. Just wanted to inform you guys that I really LOVED Legacy. Secondly I also noted that there are a few bugs with the LI's. After completing a certain side-quest I know one of my companions is meant to say something if my sibling is not present, and she didn't. Just want to know whether there is a fix in the works. =) Thank you for your time and keep going with the excellence of DLC so far.

I loved Legacy, I found it to be just long enough to not be exhausting and to fulfill a very interesting and engaging story. To finally see someone like, well to avoid a spoiler like the final boss was very intriguing and something I had been hoping for since Origins and learning about the Chant. I thought the mechanics of the final bos fight were interesting as well, I only wish the companions behaved a little more intelligently around the fire.

One thing I am just now noticing, having made new characters to topple the DLC, is that during the end of Act 2 in the main story, the Grey Wardens armor is glitched. They show up in untextured chests and helms. Further along some of the Qunari armor is screwed up as well, it appears to maybe be only the Sten who are affected...

Besides those two relitively small complaints, I would say this is the best Bioware DLC I've ever played!

What an improvement!
New detailed locations and no longer reuse of existing ones: Good.
The boss fights are really great. The AI got to its limits at the final boss fight.
The party dialogs improved though I still miss dialogs with party members like in DAO. And when being in romance with a character there should be a difference in dialog and behavior like in DAO. Have a look at the Witcher :-).
Evolving and configurable weapons and armors are a great idea: Keep it! Being able to chose the design would be nice.

The rogues close combat moves are still to acrobatic and unrealistic. Have a look at Assassins Creed to get an idea how to do it better.

I look forward to getting more DLCs or add-ons and of course DAIII!

This from someone who thinks the DA and ME sequels are VASTLY inferior to the originals:

'Legacy' was a good DLC, probably just behind LotSB. Worth the money, certainly.

Liked:
The outdoor sequences
The new areas
Party banter, including a love-interest banter for Merrill
Lots of involvement for the sibling (Grey Warden Bethany in my case) and dialogue
A family epilogue at the end. DA2 threw away all three family members too easily.
Less wave combat

Disliked:
The Hawke key - great idea, stupid execution. It looks ridiculous and doesn't level up.
Genlocks - stupid, stupid, stupid-looking
Anders already has a unique amulet! he doesn't need another one. How about a ring?
The final battle was a tiresome chore when it should have been awesome. Hamstrung completely by the stupid AI.
NO CHOICES!!!!!!!!!! NOT ONE. Unforgivable, but hardly surpising considering the shocking lack of choice in DA2. Like DA2, whaever you choose has EXACTLY the same result. Bioware simply don't wish Hawke to make a difference in ANYTHING.

It was better than DA2, but sadly that's not saying much.

Finished Legacy yesterday. Awesome DLC. Loved it. The new areas are just beautiful. Great job from the art department. The fight with corypheus was mostly a one man show with hawke because of the buggy party member a.i., but it wasn't that bad. Corypheus as a character is very interesting, i never thought of fighting an actual ancient magister! It really was by far the best DA dlc. I can't wait for future content!

So it took me a month but I bought Legacy (had to finish Assassins Creed Brotherhood first).

Overall I really liked it and feel it will now be the best part of replaying Dragon Age 2. I was generally a fan of Dragon Age 2 over Origins (especially the combat, at least when you got a decent ammount of skils), but there were problems with the main game. Legacy pretty much side-stepped all of these. The environments were good, varied and interesting. It doesn't fix the repetition in the main game but that is not the fault of the DLC itself.
Likewise having a difficult decision that didn't involve Templars and Blood Mages was nice.

It was great having lots more dialogue from the companions and the combat was great. I loved the final boss fight - yes, it took a lot of micro-managing and ordering of companions to avoid the fire but that was part of the fun (for me anyway). Like the Ancient Rock Wraith in the main game it was cool to take the environment into consideration, more fights like that please (and no more rubbish Arishok fights would also be appreciated).

Overall, if this shows the direction that bioware might be taking in DA3 in terms of storytelling, art and combat I'll be first in line to grab a copy.

Just finished my first Legacy playthrough and have to say I was very satisfied by this DLC. Nice enemy variety, great environmental designs, actual voice acting from our companion characters and Cassandra (something that even the great LotSB and other ME2 DLCs didn't include) great polish and nice little touches all over the place (such as the viewpoints and lootable potions having their own sprites).

As Gemini1179 put it: this is precisely how the missions in the base game should have been like. Good length, nice pacing, good variety. If I was to really try to find fault in Legacy I'd have to say that I wish that the unique items had some form of level-scaling; that the "Hawke key" didn't look so ridiculously over-the-top (especially the Greatsword version), and that there was a tiny bit more "how we got here exposition" rather than the short dialogue revealing that Hawke was attacked by the Carta. (How is this new, you fight the Carta on multiple occasions throught the base game? A "watercolor cutscene" would've been an absolute slam dunk here.)

Like I said very minor gripes for what's overall an excellent addition to DA2, looking forward to more content in the future. Hopefully something you can even more seamlessly integrate into the main campaign to add further excitement into future playthroughs. :)

I just finished Legacy and I have to say: more, please. I love the non-linear levels, the challenging fights, the party dialog throughout the dungeon (it makes a difference when the comment, it feels more immersive) and, above all, the greatest of all boss fights in DA2. It was challenging, it needed me to take care of the whole party, it didn't rely on the same trick all the time. Awesome.

Also: the family thing. I know YMMV, but the family themes in DA2 are just my thing. I'm a sucker for the heartfelt conversations. And Carver's comments about feeling weird for feeling closer to his father in a darkspawn infested dungeon? Priceless.

Andraste's flaming ******! Corypheus was burning my ass to bits. I'm Easy Moding D: Why are you still kicking my ass! Its not really that my companions are slow. Just, its bloody timed. Mashing the buttons to move was hilarious.

Also, that ending? T_T WHY MUST YOU MAKE ME CRY FOR A FAMILY THAT DOESN'T EXIST! "His little scoundrel"...I'm his little scoundrel :<

Finally managed to get my hands on Legacy after a long period away from my PC. Better late than never I guess.

First of all, to the people who designed the last boss fight (and the encounters in general): you guys are sadistic, insane and evil masterminds who take pride in their secret fantasy of torturing innocent souls with these kind of encounters. I love you guys so much.

It was a breath of fresh air to finally leave that blasted city and see something new. And the journey did not dissapoint. The battles were fun and challenging, the banter and voice acting was superb as always and the story was nice. Caught me off guard for sure when I learned who Corypheus was.

The enemy variety was nice, especially the big ogres with the shields. The Hurlock Alphas (the ones with the big hammers I think) look like those things in Resident Evil 5. Found it a little funny.

It's very superior to any of the Origins DLC, but I don't find much replayability in it. Unless of course I lose my mind and get the urge to finish it on Nightmare. Not gonna happen in the near future, that's for sure. ;)

Overrall, I liked it.   8/10 for me :)

I thouroughly enjooyed Legacy. It was nice seeing an area outside of Kirkwall. The scenery was well done and not reusing any maps made actually advancing farther fun and exciting. We did'nt know what to expect next. Strategically placing enemies instead of using wave combat was a definite improvement. No more enemies coming out of nowhere. The story was well told to. This is how the main game should have been.
KEEP IT UP BIOWARE!

By far the best DLC I have played from Bioware yet(and I was a HUGE fan of both Warden's keep and Golems of Amgarrack).

I would like to post 1 criticism I had. I loaded up a post game save for Legacy, and it was introduced to me by clicking on a random new statue. Where it jumps into the DLC and Hawke and Varric talking about having been attacked. Now I assume that during my next playthrough I will actually get attacked and that scene will make sense, but the implimentation for the post game save made it feel disjointed. My feedback make sure the post game save gets a better introduction into the DLC.

Ok straight off the bat Great DLC made a great game even better and showed how bad the Origins DLC was love all the voice acting 1st rate the final battle was .... awesome and reminded my of the combat in Origins was so bad that an Athritic 80yr old could do better.

As for those who continue to say "yet again in DA2 you get meaningless choices unlike in DAO" i say to you what are you on about Origins was a million times worse because for all the illusion of choice with the Bazillion possible conversation options you all keep raving about the end result was exactly the same as in the Grey warden defeats the blight the only differences your so called choices made was how you got there so please quit inflating Origins with even more hot air than its allready filled with because it sure is not the shining beacon many claim it to be and to compare DA2 to that mess of a game is an insult to DA2 and no i really dont follow with the lame argument of ( well Bioware claimed before release blah blah blah) any sensible person ignores pre release hype and spin because thats exactly what it is and more fool anyone who took it as a Given.

And besides for all the DAO fans who dont like DA2 and will most like not be keen on DA3 quit whining because if you like traditional RPG's with swords and dragons you at least have a fall back posistion........... the upcoming elder scrolls skyrim game so please stop walking around like angry hormonal teenagers dragging your arms on the floor like sulking orangatans and be grateful for what you've got. OH and P.S

to anyone reading my previous post on this thread dont get your knickers in a twist its not directed at anyone in particular it just amazes and perplexes me how some people think that buying playing and loving one game makes the whole IP their personal property

Legacy was for me a real joy to play through, great story, loved the new ways of making enemies appear into battle, using doors etc. also loved the strategic placement my enemies made and I liked most of the new looks you gave some of the darkspawn creatures. One thing that really surprised me positively was when I met deep stalkers and they actually put up with a fight!
Great dialouges throughout the DLC, fun with a little bit more party banter and it was really nice with some puzzles to solve aswell. Larius and Corypheus are two really interesting characters, especially Corypheus.
The finale was a good challenge with some nice surprises I did not expect to happen, especially the maze but also the electricity barriers and the falling ice shards.

Criticism:

- The new Genlock art was in my opinion not satisfying at all. (Loved the insanely big shield on the Alpha however)
- A.I in the finale was really frustrating at times, you know those times when you're party just not seemed to get that going through the FIRE is probably not a good idea and constantly reminding me that it should be avoided. (D'oh!)

That's roughly my opinion on Legacy and I really want to give Bioware some extra cred for this DLC because it is hands down the best DLC released for the DA franschise so far and I hope that there are more story based DLC's lined up for DA2.

I see this come up a lot on this forum and elsewhere. Am I really the only one who realizes you can sell junk items to vendors/merchants? Collect the items during a quest, then sell it all off. It's basically the same as looting coin, you just have the extra step of having to sell it. So it's not entirely useless... you do earn coin from collecting and selling it.
