I encountered a bug that gave me flashbacks to the old companion approval bonus bug. My character used the "Return to Kirkwall" statue in the Carta Hideout, and the next time I looked on his resistances he'd dropped from a 7% damage resistance (the Fallen Star ring) to a -1% damage resistance. None of his equipment had been swapped out. When I removed the ring he had a -8% damage resistance. Loading up a previous save fixed the problem and it hasn't occurred again, but I haven't tried leaving the DLC area again.

Guys, DX9 solution is there for people who don't want to roll back to a previous driver which does work.
If you REALLY want to use DX11,. that's your best bet.

Bioware have been working with Nvidia, and new drivers should be released soon... aparrently.

Note - driver version to roll back to is in the OP at top of page one.

..

@Wraith - what class, level and talents were you? Will try to replicate this if possible. (probably best to send as a PM):)

Unfortunately, I cannot, Vale. Would guess it's an issue with the connection to the download server.

disconnect your internet for 5 minutes then try again, if it still happens then it's almost certainly on their side.

I'm having some horrible audio issues, pops and fade in and out of sound, and major stuttering (and several-second freezing) in cutscenes. I had problems when I first installed the game and applied patch 1.03. I'd thought I'd had it all sorted-- ended up disabling trilinear filtering and triple buffering in the .ini file and re-enabling triple buffering via the Catalyst drivers, but it's back and awful now that I'm playing Legacy with an old save.

My specs:
Athlon II X4 630
6GB DDR3 1600
ASUS HD6870, running Catalyst 11.6
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround external sound card
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Editing to add: I don't use any of the ASUS utilities-- just the straight-up Catalyst drivers.  Just adding this, because I've heard that Smart Doctor or whatever it's called causes major performance issues.

Are there any driver updates for your sound card?

Also, try toggling the "Force Stereo Sound" option in the config program.

You mean, turn it off?  I have it on.  I never had any issues at all with this sound card until 1.03.

Yeah, it might be having trouble, I don't know. Worth a try.

Unfortunately not a techie, so basing my advice on the possibilities I can see slapping me in the face, so I might be totally useless.

Nope, you're dead on.  It worked! :o

The volume's a lot lower-- I'm going to have to crank up my system volume, but the stuttering and the staggering are gone, as is the *really* annoying random popping.

So, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Edit: I am a techie, at least from the software end.  I know a bit about graphics cards and processors, and know Windows pretty much inside and out, but audio hardware, well...

Well, glad it helped. Hopefully Luke will see this and pass along when he wakes up.

The game crashes or freezes on the loading screen after I had to choose between Janeka and Larius. I use DirextX 9 and played the whole game with patch 1.03, I tried 7th times but it always end up on crashing or frozing

Try updating the drivers, then. To 270.61. Believe that should still support your card.

I updated the drivers, in this side all works but the game keep crashing at the same point, made him believe that the problem didn't came from my graphic card.

one thing to note is that minimum requirements graphics-wise is the GeForce 7900 GS. (just checked)

'fraid I don't know what to suggest. I mean, your game worked so far, I'd expect the problem would have shown long before.. Perhaps try reinstalling the DLC.

Just a heads up - the 280.19 beta drivers for nvidia cards are now available. They appear to have dealt with the "I'll take my chances" crash.
Will keep you posted.

Card: hd5870. Driver: Catalyst 11.4.
DX11. Crashes, slow downs, irrespective of high, very high etc options on or off.
Dx9 no issues.

There were 11.7 drivers released recently. Try using those and see if it improves.

Damn 275.33 crash? That just about alienates everyone with an Nvidia card.

Bug rather than tech issue but reloading to re-do Dumat's Altar leaves you not able to redo it at all, the icon is missing. I've been successful loading a previous save, but had to do that a number of times before the icon showed up again. Tried this in two different games, both with the same result.

(BTW Catalyst 11.6 with Cat5 works perfectly, and 11.6 drivers don't have the Photoshop CS5 possible problems)

The Nvidia 280.19 beta drivers fix it, no stability issues at all so far. You can download it at www.geforce.com. :)

In the final battle I wasn't able to finish because in the fourth round after switching off the four statues nothing happened, just walking around in circles. Try it three times loading the last autosave before the battle. I never get to the fourth round without reloading so I'm not sure but it could be a bug caused by loading the autosave just before the final battle.

I was able to finish it loading a previous save (not the autosave one), turning the difficulty settings to casual and killing it in the third round.

And as mentioned in the xbox forums "I tried reloading the auto-save before the final fight and also a save that i had just before the Warden encounter but no luck he won't come down after i disable them also not sure if enemies are supposed to spawn the fourth time but they don't for me. "

I had this also the first time I fought the boss, I assumed it was because I switched to casual mode just before that point because my entire party had wiped and it was just my rogue Hawke running around in circles, no shades spawned after deactivating the statues last time round.  However I reloaded and played on casual, no party member died and he was defeated.

Only other thing I found was lack of acknowledgement of Fenris romance but I believe you are looking into that, thanks.

That. Would. Be. Awesome.

Get your forum devs working on it right away?

I'd probably immediately abuse it and spam pictures of Dolph Lundgren as He-Man.... I HAVE THE POWER!

Seriously though, I do have some suggestions in to get a better devTracker type tool for users to easily stalk me. Maybe I'll just GPS tag my ankle and make it even easier. :o

You had me at He-Man. But... er... make it the 1983 Masters of the Universe cartoon and I'm onboard to petition the heck out of all the devs. Posted Image

Hmmm, the GPS anklet has possibilities too... Posted Image

And to make this post seem somewhat relevant, I do have a question, as I'm still on the fence a bit about Legacy.

Any word yet about the Fenris dialogue not triggering? I mean specifically the LI related dialogue... Or were Fenris's lines simply left out with respect to that particular acknowledgement? Since, it seems, I've got a thing for elves and all... Posted Image
