That was a really interesting article. I'm still discussing this with my ME fan friends.

Quote:

"If this is indeed what happens, I’m certain that Shepard will be having a personal conversation with the Illusive Man very early in Mass Effect 3. Perhaps even as early as when he escapes Earth. I imagine that the conversation will be about how to deal with the Reapers and help ensure Humanity’s survival. This is where the conflict will probably begin. Whereas the Illusive Man might believe that collaboration is the only answer, Shepard’s will instead be ‘we fight or we die’. The Illusive Man will believe that Shepard is dooming the Human Race, and Shepard will believe that the Illusive Man is indoctrinated and/or selling Humanity out."

Note - this was written *before* the Game Informer article. Wow. Just wow.
Whoever wrote that dissertation, I bow in front of his amount of foresight!

I haven't read the Game Informer article! I've steered clear of most spoilers.

I didn't want it 'corrupting' my writing of these.

And that is why I bow before your powers of analytical thinking.
Excellent read and it feels like a lot of research went into writing. Multiple Kudos!

I'm really enjoying your work, good sir.  I really appreciate how you don't just dismiss that which you disagree with, but tactfully and intelligently break it down.  You broke down a couple ideas I had in my head so logically, that they will forever be broke.  Now I don't understand how those ideas came to be...

It's so thought provoking that I find myself enjoying your dissertation more than replaying the game.

This dissertation is essentially an academic reading of a media text, kinda what all humantities are, not a making up of the story to explain the game.

Here I couldn't help myself.  I have the mind of a mental midget and this typo just made me giggle.... And I'm 36!  Haha!

Thanks for the comment!

I'm really looking forward to posting 'The Reapers' article in the coming weeks. I've been working at that on and off for the last six months. Haha.

I am unaware of 99 percent of all ME3 spoilers, including the script leak. There are none in any of the articles.

Of course, if I happen to be right on numerous things, I hope you won't hold it against me. :P

Reapers want to bring humans to the next level of ascension by making them as ONE reaper. Shepard has impressed the Reapers and therefore they offer to humanity the chance to become a reaper with Shepard leading humanity at the cost of every other alien races in the galaxy.

TIM (whether is indoctrinated or not) sees this as an opportunity but wants to be the head of that group rather than Shep. It's either that or TIM fears that Shepard would interfere with Reapers' plan.

This is rather in-line with the 'hidden' dialogue Legion has. I'm pretty sure their goal is to create a Reaper for every civilization as a means of 'ascencension'.

Ah, yeah. I forgot to add the 'most promising civilizations' to that post.
They seem only interested in the, what they consider, most advanced/promising civilization at the time. We're the lucky ones of course.

Very interesting read, i especially enjoyed the comparison between TIM and Dr. Breen. ( Played through HL2 just last week so it was all fresh in my mind)

But i have a question. What do you think about Cerberus' actions in Mass Effect: Invasion? And how do you think they are tied to TIM's main goal?

This is my theory I ve had for some time.

I have always thought that some protheans did survive the reaper attack. ( After the reapers left the galaxy ) The protheans came out of hiding and then mined Omega astroied ( as noted in the codex) so they can build a relay ( Omega 4 relay ) inorder to hide from the eyes of the reapers ( for some big plan ). Some how they still got indoctrinated.

I ve noticed that the collector base and ships do not look like they are of reaper design ( as seen by other reaper made things ). This makes me think that the protheans/collectors were an unforseen problem for the reapers that they turned into there advantange.

We have not heard the last of the protheans yet.

That sounds needlessly convoluted to me.

It's pretty clear (and there is virtually no indication to suggest otherwise) that the Reapers themselves were responsible for the creation of the Omega 4 Relay, and that the Protheans mined Omega well before their extinction.

That is the first thought yes, but if you notice the omega 4 relay does not look the same as other relays and it just so happends that the game seems to mention that the protheans mined it (for some reason the devs mention that). On top of that the game (devs) name it after the relay it self.

1. Relays are made from Ezo. this happends to be what the astroied was mined for.
2. Why would a relay not look like any other relay?...Why does it look that way?
3.The system already has two relays in them...why? Not to mention that the O4 relay is different. Something does not add up!

The reapers did not build the O4 relay. If they did then why is the collector base and tech not of reaper design?

How do you know it isn't of 'Reaper design'?

"Assumptions are dangerous".

The Codex strictly points out that the Protheans tried to mine Omega but failed. Only when another asteroid ran right into it did all the Element Zero become accessible.

"Omega was briefly mined by the Protheans, who eventually abandoned it due to its thick, impenetrable crust. Thousands of years later, nature did what even the Protheans could not: a collision with another asteroid broke Omega in half, exposing its trove of element zero for easy mining.

A rush ensued as corporations and private individuals tried to strike it rich on Omega, and thieves and outlaws followed in their wake."
