So since I'll be buying Legacy and installing it when I get home. Which companions would you suggest I take with my favorite Fem Hawke? My favorite crew is Merrill, Isabela & Varric. Without spoiling much for me is there a reason to make any others more compelling. I'm kind of anti broody by nature.

I would take Anders, Varric, and Bethany or Carver. Anders has a few... interesting moments, and the sibling gets tons of extra dialogue peppered throughout. Varric also seems to have a unique sidequest related to him.

Anders, Varric, and the sibs get the most dialogue and special moments,so you should go through with them at least once.

As said, first time around bring Anders, Varric, and your living sibling. If no sibling's available, bring your LI or next favorite group-mate.
Also, prepare for an **** of and end boss XD

I took Varric, Anders and Fenris. I would highly recommend keeping Varris and Anders, the third is your choice but Aveline and Fenris make the most sense.
You will need a tank/muscle for the end boss. Trust me.

I took Varric, Merrill/Anders, and Bethany. My team was a bit glass cannon-y and the end boss was a *****

Personally I wasn't impressed with Ander's version of dialogue. I took Bethany, Isabela & Varric with my Warrior Fem Hawke in the first go through. Turned it to casual on Cory, like I'm sure about everyone did.

Not impressed? That might be because you didn't romance him ;p *cackles*
My first go at Cory I threw it on casual to get through it because the npcs were being stupid and WOULD NOT FOLLOW ME. Once I did it once I threw it back on hard though. It's rough, but worthwhile. <3

Nope. Did it on normal, but it took a few tries to get through it. My guys kept charging into the fire. Uh, Varric? You are an archer. You don't have to be on top of whatever it is you're shooting at. And Anders kept trying to back up to get some distance between himself and the shades, except that it put him right in the flames. Pfft! Men!

I know right. It seemed only Isabela was able to avoid the fires with me. Oh Merrill was good at avoiding fire to kinda. Anders and Varric? Maybe they thought they just were too hot to get burned?

You can get away without a tank on Cory, really. Like several other bosses and just about every enemy, he suffers from an inability to really chase down moving targets. Kite fodder. Select all and hold position are your friends for the fire parts.
Anyhoo, I ran with Bethany and Varric myself, and can mirror what everyone else is saying about bringing them along. Anders was suffering from an unfortunate case of deadness at the time, so I didn't bring him myself. Very tragic.

Not taking Anders means you're only missing out on a few comments generally brooding. That and being all weak minded. Carver was basically all cool sauce while Anders was going all emo out of control over Cory's sound waves. I did end up getting an extra like 16 silver out of the deal but it was hardly worth it. As for the tank thing. I didn't take a tank my first go around. It was a Rogue Hawke actually. Hence of the reasons it was just simpler to go casual in the end. But both Isabela and Hawke were duelests so they could take a beating anyway.

I enjoyed the dialogue isabela and aveline put out (I was romancing isabela too). Siblings also have plenty of dialogue in this so need to bring them along.

If it wasn't for the Fenris LI bug, I would have enjoyed this DLC so much more. But I took Bethany, Varric and Anders with me for my first time as well.

I agree that the LI bug with Fenris is really dissapointing (wish they had plans to fix it!) but he does have some interesting comments in general, especial when paired with Anders (imo). Most recent PT took those two and Sebastian.
