I finally finished Legacy and first I'd like to say I was pleased to rp a dragon worship ritual with my mage but I was disapointed that I only found 3 of the 4 items needed.

I'm not sure which of the 4 you need, but there is a scroll on top of the gateway before you get to the altar area (you'll pass some stairs - just go up the stairs to one end). There's also an urn of sorts past the altar. It's in an alcove with a Legion of the Dead corpse.

I found the scroll, the urn, and the crown. dunno what else I'm missing

edit: eh. I'll just defile it for now I guess. Not like my Hawke is one for religious ceremonies anyway  if there's an achievement I'll just get it later

The item was so crappy - end game - that I reloaded and defiled the altar instead.

Where's the fourth item!? I have the crown, the scroll and the urn. It has to be somewhere along the way. (BTW loving the DLC LOVING)

It's surprising the altar still works at all, given Dumat is supposed to be dead since the First Blight.

Wonder if it means something.

Well, if I recall the Codex entries, after the first blight which lasted for four centuries, the scholars worked night and day to figure out who the dragon was, and ultimately settled on Dumat.

It's not inconceivable they came up with the wrong god.

The 4th item I was missing was near the Altar up some stairs. I felt really dumb that I had passed it so easily the first time.

I had missed the dagger in the floor above. Once I went back it was easy to find, but I was going nuts trying to find it for the better part of 20 minutes. End result wasn't really worth it, but the quest was interesting nonetheless.

Both the crown and the dagger are in the previous floor of the tower. The dagger is on a glowing skeleton in a prison, the crown is on a tomb located more or less in the middle of the floor.

The urn is past the altar (north-east of the altar).

Scholar 1:****, how are we supposed to tell one dragon from another? Want to say it's Dumat?

Well I took you up on your suggestion.  I defiled the altar.  I wasn't impressed, so I reloaded and did the offerings.

I like wild theories, so I'm going to say that maybe the Dark Ritual was used at least once before the Fifth Blight.

I end up doing this my secound and third play through.  I need to check the xp for both options and see which is higher.
