i just wanna add my 2 cents in, i want to play a game thats complete not broken into little pieces and sold as a main game and little DLC, whilst everyone is arguing about DLC rights and profits as a maybe cause of the little ****** for tat EA are doing, maybe you should sit back and realise that whether its steam or Origin,

your still being ripped off by uncomplete games that if the truth be told should only cost £30 at launch not £30+5+5+5+5+5+5+5 for the dlc, if you look at the last gen the games, they had the same content and length at launch than when these games have after all DLC is released.

not to forget the re-used assets of DA2 and then only a 2-3hr extra of DLC just release, people are being ripped off without knowing it so utimatley stop thinkin about "oh no its not on my prefered client" and realise if you werent being ripped off so much by DLC's this issue of Origin vs Steam wouldnt even exist.

I'm going to be beyond pissed if I have to install EA's Origins Game Client just to play my store bought copy of ME3 or DA3 as well as any DLC that go with it. Like I need more crap on my computer. I like all of my games in one place and with Steam I had that....up until now. Way to fail again, EA. It's like as soon as they get their greedy paws in things they go downhill and fast.

What happens to people who already own DA2 on Steam? Can they download the game again if and when they need to?

Yes, you can download the game from Steam any time.

The real question is: will DA2 on Steam get 1.04 patch (if it will be ever released).

The real question is, why you dumbasses unlucky individuals use digital clients in the first place.

Retail ftw.

Once you go digital client, you never go back.

Unless Steam has StarCraft 2 or Diablo 3, then I'm not buying the PoS client. I prefer retail AKA physical copies of my games, because when I know something screws it, it's most likely my fault.

Payin the same price for digital copy as for boxed game is IMO cmpletly irrational.
I can buy digital if its 25%~50% cheaper. The same price - no thank you.

My reasons for preferring digital are quite rational and very practical (and no, Anathemic, this doesn't make me an ****** unlucky individual. Really, now). I don't see a reason for 50% cheaper, because the packaging cost doesn't make that much, and servers / bandwidth aren't free as well.

Although 10% off would be reasonable. Same with e-books, btw (one can dream, yes?)

This said, I admit there is a certain satisfaction in holding in your hand that game you've been waiting for so long (I'm looking at you Starcraft 2).

I use steam for the sales, I would never buy a game new on digital over physical.

I'm curios, but why? Once the game is installed on the system, what difference does it make?

Not a troll post, I'm generally curious as you're the 2nd person who wrote that.

Because you're paying the price based on the production of the physical parts without actually getting the physical parts.

To use an example you might understand. If you order the Collectors of edition of a game (say ME3 or the new Deus Ex) you get alot of extras, including a nice art book. Getting the Digital version of both those games gets you a scanned copy of that book instead. Yet you pay the same exact price.

If I'm paying full price to get a game new, I want to really have a copy of the game for all time. If a title doesn't interest me that much, and I pick it up years later when its on sale, then I can see getting the Digital version.

This right here.

The last two games I bought were StarCraft 2 and Witcher 2, both CE editions, phyiscal retail. It is more satisfying to have phyiscal artbook and goodies rather than scanned pages on a PC.

And like I said before with phyiscal copies, when something screws up with my game, most of the time it is my own fault and I like having control rather than putting the blame on someone else and said blame is probably not going to resolve anything.

How on earth do I download DAII through Steam now? It isn't listed in my games list anywhere.

Z, it will still show if you purchased DA2 before the Legacy argument. If one wants to get DA2 now from Steam, it is no longer listed.

Pretty sure: http://i.imgur.com/OU6gK.png

I've sent a support ticket to Steam, I hope it's just an error on their part.

No, I did knew that, but the user above purchased it before Legacy and it doesn't show for them. It has to be an error on Steam's part.

And nothing of value was lost.

I had no desire to install Origin before they pulled their top-shelf stuff from steam. I still don't. I refuse to have more than one DRM client on my machine just because EA doesn't want to pay valve their cut anymore. Steam is intrusive enough, and it barely is. I can't imagine Origin being any friendlier.

It wont last long. I doubt they'll be able to compete properly with Steam, with only the EA PC catalog. They'll cave eventually and put them all back on Steam again, most likely.

The Anti-DRM crowd ~

DRM exists because people refuse to not steal, while the anti-DRM crowd are having a hissy I shall be playing and enjoying the games. Whether thats having to log in to play, using Steam or using EA Origin makes no difference to me. It's a game, not my sole reason for living.

The only real question imho is what about this deal/contract they have with GoG about EA titles vs Origin. Guessing they won't list their old titles on Origin if already contracted to sell on GoG unless isn't exclusive. Then again makes little difference to me the consumer what I use to buy or where from, like always I'll go use the cheapest service or product that legally sells it as digital download. If can't get on steam then get on Origin, if cant get on Origin then get on Direct2Drive, if can't get on there then see if GoG has it and if again can't get on there maybe Gamersgate. Although I prefer retail copies becuase let's face it boxes are <insert awesome pun> with touchy feely manuals and pretty shiny little discs. If I then have to load some additional software, so be it; my world isn't going to come crashing down around me because of that.

<<< Awaits the retaliation of the self righteous rage patrol for not being in the hissy crowd about having to log in to play something or install some silly little application. If bought from Steam and pulled for (any) reason then EA would try to get it resolved or supply the product themselves via their own client, if you don't like their client and only wish to use Steam so don't accept that sort of resolution then thats your fualt so no sympathy. But EA everytime I have spoke to them (not just read faqs and websites but actually speak to them via webclient or phone) they are extremely good and fast I have found in resolving issues. This is not to say I like how much influence they have over developers titles direction.
