Sovereign was more than a match for the entire 5th fleet. If there are even dozens of Reapers much less hundreds then we are going to run out of fleets long before we run out of Reapers to kill.

Even Shepard points this out at the end of ME1.

Not all Reapers are the same size.

"Reapers have different sizes, ranging from 500-600 meters of the smaller ships to the 2km for Harbinger"
(That's from the confirmed features thread).

id appreciate seeing an ending in ME3 that consists of a barren galaxy. if the reapers dont get very close to completing their objective, then they arent a big enoguh threat. the reapers should be nothing more then machine built to kill/harvest. thinking the galaxy is ready for such a "real" treat like the reapers and expecting to survive is somewhat crazy in itself. especially if the begining of ME3 is the reapers invasion at the trial.

Some of them might be smaller but enough of them may be close to Sovereign's size. A few dozen Sovereign-sized Reapers plus hundreds of smaller ones is still a force we are not too likely to overcome.

Maybe, but we don't know anything for certain. I think that they have a smaller number of them that are the size of Harbinger and Sovereign, andthe others are just grunts, so to speak. This is just speculation, of course.

Why don't you try using your brain?

Sovereign did not attack the citadel BY ITSELF.  It had an entire Fleet of Geth ships in front of it.

Sovereign  BY ITSELF couldn't even manage to save itself from just the Alliance Fleet, not even the largest Fleet in the Galaxy, by far.

And I don't remember even seeing Sovereign engage in the initial attack.  It was in such a hurry to get into the citadel before the arms closed that it was just ramming any ships in it's way.

So, replace Fleet of Geth with fleet of Reapers.  We really don't know what would happen in this case.
And just because we don't know doesn't mean we shouldn't try.

It's evident from the battle that Sovereign by itself was wrecking havock on the fleet so badly they wanted to retreat.

I also saw it with my own eyes blowing apart ships left and right.

If you think we can handle a fight against even just a handful of these Reapers then you're a moron.

Sovereign came through the relay, and the Geth fleet engaged in combat. Sovereign didn't start fighting until after it had latched onto the Citadel Tower.
