And so, for a first time, I have started templar supporter character - warrior with templar subclass.

Plan was simple, group containing Varric, Fenris and Avelin. No mages in group. No shady characters like Isabel.

Romance plan was simple - because of the templar role play, the only appropriate female was Avelin and I remembered you could flirt with her in Act 1.

And here comes the pain. I should have read some Avelin spoilers. You cannot romance her. For templar character role play, there is no appropriate romance option (blood mage Merrill - as much as I like her is obviously not an option, Isabel - out of question).

3000 bioware points for a DLC female companion whom could templar romance with (females have Fenris and Sebastian as decent choices).
___

My templar character, after I learned the sad truth about Avelin, is stucked, I feel like deleting him.

I wouldn't say that Isabela is strictly out of the question the way Merrill is, unless you just don't have any interest in her... which I can understand. I don't recall Isabela caring one way or the other about mage freedom, and she said as much to Anders once...

...Why not just make your templar warrior character female?

I have no interest in her but I would overcome that in the game. But from role playing point of view proud templar romancing a shady rogue of very free customs... It just seems weird.

I admit I cannot play for female characters. I need to feel some level of connection with my characters to be interested in RPG game and I cannot accomplish this while playing for female.

As pointed out above, there is Fenris for your strict Templar.

I find it bit ridiculous that I have to say that, but my templar is not a gay.

Well then, tough, your only choice is Isabela.

Is your templar not gay, or are you?

This -is- a computer roleplaying game, after all. Nothing says you can't hook your templar up with Fenris and still be 100% straight in real life. In fact, My husband's got a maleHawke that romanced Fenris, and I can say with pretty good accuracy that he is indeed not gay in real life ;p Hell, his best friend has a pro-mage male hawke who hopped firmly in the Anders camp. He's straight too!

It's okay. It wont threaten your manhood. There isn't even any nude scenes. Just a kiss. Think of it as watching tv and finding out your favorite character is into dudes half way into the series. No big, maybe close your eyes to get past the kissing scene.

Otherwise, your romance options are Isabela - who's story is actually very sweet once you get into act 3, or Merrill - who you can say your templar loved despite being a mage, and since you're a pro-templar-templar, you're the only one equiped to truly protect her, even from herself and her blood magic :)

:D

Certainly seems like the only options are:

1) Freeze character and wait for future DLCs (bah!)
2) Play without romance (ooook then)
3) Invent some idiotic templar RP (I will purge Merrill of all evil! Merrill cannot use her special blood mage talents..... –> but still seems like crap)
4) Deleting character

Lot's of stuff to think about. I wonder when I will get back to the gaming with this character. Inventing some other RP background and deleting might be best. :?

Then I'll suggest the Blooming Rose for your Templar - as you have probably seen, it has Templars among its clientele. B)

I might try this I guess but with a new character. It feels wrong to switch into this RP in Act 2.

Deleting and new templar will be coming. When I get home from job. B)

There's nothing wrong with playing at least one character with no romance. I actually think it would be appropriate for a Templar, since many are not allowed to have families by the Chantry. Why not keep playing, and see how it goes? I was pretty peeved about not having an LI in ME2 before the game came out, but I've now beaten the game three times with the same romanceless character, and I wouldn't have it any other way, at this point.

That being said, you should give Isabela a chance, her relationship really grows and matures by the third act. It's very much worth the effort.

Don't romance anyone or RP as if your character is in love with Aveline. True, you can't romance her but the game let you pine your life away on her and it's bittersweet in her quest

Good points, both of you. Playing without romance seems like abandoning part of the game but on other side, it should be fully RP appropriate. And deleting character is just a waste of many hours, while I can start a new templar later anyway.

Why not rivalmance isabela? Sounds like an odd game with so many warriors in your group. Varric, Sebastian, Isabela and Templar hawk would be good imo.

That's basically what Merrill's rivalmance is, if you really are set on having a romance for your templar character. You can convince her to stop using blood magic.

Try warrior group yourself. ;-)

So far most fun I ever had (maybe just because it's new)... All group members are tough (unlike mages, Varric is good at running, keeping distance, well surviving without help), all cause plenty of damage. No need for healer, tank (even Aveline is DPS specced), almost no need to taunt (only when one of group members gets really low with HPs).

What I really love about DA 2 is the "no need for healer in group". I'm so tired of healers... Thank you World of Warcraft, you made me HATE HEALERs!

Hmmm. You guys give me lot to think about. And thinking is my hobby. :)

You got to know the Grand Cleric has to get rather cross with them about that.

I wonder how KC Meredith feels about it?

My Templar would fall for Merrill then leave the order after everything that happens in Kirkwall. Matter of I wonder how many Templars came to Kirkwall and left after seeing the cluster **** of crazy that Meredith was running.

Matter of fact I would like a romance were Templar fell for a Mage then had choose between the two . Love vs Duty is always a great conflict in a romance.

Why would she be? A little stress relief works wonders.

I bet she is a regular for the bad girl special.

I just kind of assumed the Chantry would frown upon casual sex like most churches do, and especially frown on prostitution.

My money says you're 100% right on Meredith.  I've got her pegged as the one that likes to get one of the prostitutes to dress up as a naughty mage who needs to be punished

Speaking of the Grand Cleric, I thought it would've been hilarious for some party banter to occur after one of the fights you have in the chantry at night:

Varric: Well, that was unpleasant.
Hawke: I guess we'd better leave before the Grand Cleric gets her and finds dead people in her Chantry, with us standing over them holding bloodied weapons.

Um, shouldn't devout holy warriors be foucused on their duty to the divine anyway?
