Definitely Wrex even though he's not part of the squad in ME2 and probably not ME3 he's still better than all others.

ME1: Ashley (sucks that I had to leave her behind
) and Wrex
ME2: Garrus, Tali, Miranda, and Joker. I alternated between the first three on who I would take with me on missions.

ME1: Wrex. Garrus showed up quite a bit too, but Wrex rarely left the squad.
ME2: Mordin, definitely. Just such an awesome character, and even on insanity he's rarely useless. He stayed home during the Geth missions usually, but other than that, I always tried to bring him.
For my Adept Insanity playthrough though, it was almost always Jack and I. She provides the lifting, I provide the boom. I basically never used her during any of my other playthroughs, but with my Adept, it was a completely different story.

Regardless of playing as femshep/mshep I always brought Miranda and Kasumi/Samara. Miranda mostly because she was useful with her Overload and whatnot.
In ME1 I always brought Ash and Tali, seeing how I played as an Adept for the most of the time, having both a combat and a tech expert benefited me. However, once I collected the best possible gear (imo) the only safe- bet was Ashley. Seeing how I didn't need to crack open caches etc.

ME1: Kaidan and Wrex (I tend to switch every mission)
ME2: Thane.
For my femShep
ME1: Ash
ME2: Kasumi
Although even though he cant come on missions I feel like Joker is Shepards best Bro, I can see Shepard, Joker, Kaidan, Ash and maybe Garrus getting together for poker nights

Wrex, Kaidan, Joker and Garrus are the ones I have my Shepard characters be attached to in both two games (even though Kaidan is, well, angry in ME2). There's also Mordin.

ME 1: Wrex, easily. We went, fightin' round the worlds and generally getting things done.
ME 2: Mordin. He's like a grandpa bro. We took on the Reapers, for science!
I never understood why everyone seems to love Garrus; I'd take him with me, but all he'd do is complain. I mean, I understand, I don't like the cold either, but we really don't have a choice in the matter.

Never had a bromance in ME1 - the conversations you have with Garrus and Wrex are pretty much like yelling at them all the time.
Garrus: "Well, I feel like I should..."
Me: "You idiot! You can't do things that way!"
Garrus: *meekly* "Okay."
I mean, how does that foster a bromance?
The conversations were much better in ME2 - just not enough of them. Oh well.

To be fair with Wrex, it shows that you (slowly) get along with him as the plot continues (and of course if you keep talking to him) especially after Virmire.
