So I just found out why it's named "Bianca".

Finally watched "Lars and the Real Girl".

Is Varric delusional?

There is some pronoun trouble in your thread title. Bianca is a "she" not an "it." :D

I feel like this requires elaboration.

Or rather: I don't get it. :/

"The film follows Lars (Gosling), a sweet yet quirky, socially inept young man, who develops a romantic relationship with an anatomically correct sex doll, a 'RealDoll' named Bianca"

Not sure i want to know what an anatomically correct crossbow is like... Image IPB

Lars and the Real Girl was a sweet film. But... Bianca is in reference to Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew," which, like DA2, is a framed narrative. Devs have said as much.

Either way, it works. Things can also be references to more than one thing.

Ah, thank you.  That's much better than Varric being delusional.  :)

Both are based off of a weapon from a Shakespeare play. No idea which one. Not a big Shakespeare-buff. :|

Not a weapon, Bianca is the name of the younger sister of the titular "shrew" from The Taming of the Shrew; she's the desirable, nice one whom all the suitors want, while the older sister, Kate, is the one their father wants to marry off first.

There is also a Bianca in Othello, she is a prostitute who has a small role in Iago's scheme to make Othello believe that Desdemona is having an affair with Cassio.

Ah Taming of the Shrew, the ultimate taking one for the team lol. Wasn't there some terrible teen movie based on that?
