How do you have a soldier that's "badass and feminine at the same time"?
Feminine in what way? Appearance? Behavior? Soldiering is pretty aggressive work by its very definition, which traditionally is associated with masculinity. So it would make sense that a "badass female soldier" would have some masculine mannerisms in how she carries herself, deals with problems, and in general presents herself to other people. It simply comes with the territory of being a soldier--a combatant by profession and trade. Aggression, dominance. These are tools of the trade for soldier, and they are traditionally held to be masculine characteristics. That doesn't mean they are the exclusive province of the male gender.
I'm just not sure what people expect FemShep to be. People aren't simply feminisit or male chauvinist caricatures. Men and women in all walks of life exhibit both traditionally masculine/feminine behaviors and mannerisms as a matter of due course every day. Humans are complex creatures, not cartoons.
So yeah, I'm curious what exactly is meant by "badass and feminine at the same time." It seems to imply that feminine characteristics cannot be "badass," since the statement is drawing a distinction between the two. If that's the mindset, I don't think you'll ever get what you claim to want.
