On a related note, I don't like official new female shepard models either. They all look like new Barbie and friends line. Which is silly and disturbing.

Mass Effect series IMO usually uses much brighter colors and more realistic / practical outfits (save for some exceptions

Nice art I gues, but REALLY not something I would want in the game. In fact, I would hate it. Way too sexualized.
The fact that the female hero is NOT oversexualized is one of the things I like with ME.
Definitely this. I don't understand the need to **** up/sexualize every female character in existence. It's gotten to the point where I cringe when Halloween rolls around. Does MaleShep need a peekaboo hole to show a glimpse of his junk? I don't think so. We've not had to define FemShep by her anatomy before now, why start?
But the technical execution of the art is well done, despite my lack of enthusiasm for the actual content.
Edit: Also, Mess Sergeant Gardner really needs to get her a sandwich.

This is something I did not like about the in-game Samara either, great character, but too much boobage. My opinion.

I think after Shep bulked up on the armour side in ME2, this one would be two steps back. Or standing next to Benezia, either way.

But this FemShep getup, while beautifully detailed and flawlessly rendered, is ALL WRONG for a human soldier. And it clearly IS designed to be sexy first and functional ninth or tenth. So wrong for this game.

Personally? I think it's terrible for being in a Mass Effect universe, looks like something more for Star Trek.
In terms of artwork, well, technically, nice job.
She looks like Borg 7of9's slightly deranged sister. No offense. Shepard is kinda like a Borg though.
OP, bring this to the FemShep thread in the ME2 forums. See what they say.

Sexism, sexism everywhere!
Rather I think it's the contrast of her very pale skin against the black suit which makes an easy target for shooting her right through the heart.
Bad idea, in my opinion. The boobs have nothing to do with it.

The outfit on the otherhand could use a stripper pole to go with it. Maybe make it a tank top to show off the stomach and make the pants assless. Oh, and high heels.

Certainly not on the boob window.

Same place the mini-facturing device for the omni-tool.
Null-space. They used to keep your inventory in there in ME1. Then shep died and cerberus forgot that N7 operatives had a place to hide everything...
Boobs aside, i still prefer this to the 16 year old BW is using.

Huh? FemShep looks like she's in her early-mid thirties to me, especially with Hale's voice.Boobs aside, i still prefer this to the 16 year old BW is using.

Sure, the current femshep. but the one they're changing to for ME3 is not 30. Maybe 24 at a stretch, but not at all experienced. Just a kid.
Thus, I'd rather have the femshep from the fan art in this thread than the one BW is going to put as the default for ME3.

I don't know why rail thin is still the go to aspect in designing women.
The first thing I noticed when I looked at the pic was the impractical hotness and un-Shepardness.
The second thing was the body proportions. And not to pick on the artist here, this kind of thing is standard throughout society (to the point of photshoping magazine cover models to be thinner. Don't believe me? Why is their waist in the middle of their ribcage?)
To name a few, her head/shoulder ratio is the same as a 14 year old. Her hips are narrower then her shoulders. Her waist is also far higher then natural, going right up to the bottom of her bust line, where her ribcage suddenly flares out to the sides (actually, the in-game shep casual model does this too). Her limbs are ridiculously thin. Her thighs flare on the outside but not on inside. Her legs are unnaturally long (her fingertips barely pass her crotch. test the real life proportions on yourself by standing up).
I get all kind of creepies from looking at this kind of art. Like watching a Garrus/Wrex love scene. "They WHAT? She... omg. I didn't know that was even a joint..."
I generally notice proportions first. With me, though I'm not an artist, if the body is drawn correctly or as close to correct as possible then I'll be content. I was unnerved by Jacob's look. It just didn't look right and this is contrasted by DA:O where males look pretty much ok. In terms of how a woman is drawn, I was ecstatic with femHawke.
Afterwards I look at everything else and make my decision about the game and/or company (group) that made it. If I had my own studio and the image in the OP was all that was in the artist's portfolio I wouldn't hire him...or her.

Your spitefulness is showing, and incidentally, it's not really complimentary of the fan art.

You know there is a character creator in game right and no one is forcing you to play what you consider a young looking Shepard. Anyway 29,500 votes say people like the way the current leading femshep looks. Its only a small number of people saying she looks young and many dont believe that at all.

Sorry this is not contextually appropriate for Mass Effect. I am getting a strange Aeon Flux vibe. She isn't hot. I wouldn't hit it... No.

One of the things that makes FemShep one of my favorite ever female vidja game characters is the fact that she isn't over-sexed to the point of absurdity.
Thank you, Bioware! You rawk so hard!
Edit: But, you guys still need to work on Samara's outfit, OK? Jack I can accept, even skanky Miranda, but Samara needs to cover those puppies up!

But I do acknowledge that most others disagree.
Then I saw the link that says he is joining Bioware on Mass Effect projects?
Good news to me, maybe it will help to improve how their characters are presented overall. I've just noticed there's really nothing dinstictive about their character designs for humans.
I just feel they are missing something. Gears of War 3, looks very distinctive and unlike anything else from other companies I feel I have ever seen.
