So far theres only 2 characters that can heal aside from the champion, anders and bethany, and bethany [SPOILERS AHEAD CONTINUE AT YOUR OWN RISK] leaves after the 2nd act. so if we dont like anders or want to try out a different mash up of characters we actually have to roll a healer ourselves (which is boring imo, there isnt nearly enough spells for healing to make it fun, i mean backup healing is fine as long as i get to keeel some folks) we cant. I personally used to like anders but having him in my group all the time gets old, which is why I liked how dao did it when everyone who was a warrior could tank, and all mage companions could heal. I mean I get that theyre trying to make it so that each character has his skill set and it goes with their charcter, but why cant merrill be a healer that uses blood magic? that would awesome.
anyway it would be nice if the next DLC could add a companion character that tanks/heals, or even a warrior that uses a 2hander (i've personally found 2h tanking to be far more effective than shield tanking, but maybe thats just because I'm more into killing things quicker and having my tank actually hold aggro). and while I doubt they'd do this as [MOAR SPOILERS AHEAD CONTINUE ONLY IF YOUVE BEATEN THE NEW DLC]
he looks like he might be evil, larias from legacy would be kind of a cool guy to have in the party if he shows up again in any future dlc (hope he does, hes an interesting character).
and even if they dont make any of this happen, they could still do it for da3
So... Any1 else think we could use a new healing and tanking companion? (mostly just the healing tho)

I agree. Anders gets on my last damn nerve! In Awakening, he was awesome! I loved having him around, being his friend, having him along with me and just his sense of humor in general. And here, he is literally dressed and shaven like a hobo then made to be the proverbial wet blanket.
I am not one to complain, because you will never make everyone happy, but the complete and utterly drastic change of Anders disappointed me a lot.

right, like i said I liked him at first but after like 4 playthroughs of knowing hes [SPOILERS AHEAD DO NOT READ FURTHER UNLESS YOUVE BEATEN THE GAME] an evil **** and knowing hes going to betray me DESPITE the fact that he now knows that YES mages are indeed the reason why the black city became such.... not just that but even if he wasnt going to do that, I like to change things up sometimes. sometimes id have morrigan heal for me instead of dpsing so i could include another person in the party, stuff like that. adding some variety would really go along way to making the game more replayable.

I wouldn't mind replacing Anders with a healer type mage that has better abilities and personality. His vengeance tree is poor, while his character as a whole went from awesome (Awakenings), to horrible (DA2).

Heal isn't all that great anymore, I mostly get by by not taking damage in the first place and the occasional potion, but another mage with the creation tree? That would be great. Heroic aura and haste really are amazing.

The game would crash, if there was another mage with haste. lol Dual haste is pretty ridculous as it is, but triple haste? Imo, that might as well be one of the reasons why they didn't give Merrill creation tree.

the solution would to leave out the creation tree and leave all the healing abilities to the personal tree.
IMO a medic/rogue type character may work and lead the way for dual classes in da3.

I keep hoping that white-haired girl from the DA comics would become a companion. Shes basically a healer/elementalist mage and would be awesome if she also had warrior training. A true mage/fighter hybrid.

This. I miss the D & D system of multi-classing. Specs are like prestige classes. Why not allow a class to get some abilties from another class at a cost to really have unique builds in the game?

Spoilers
Well if they do any DLC that takes place after the campaign then yeah they may need to introduce a new npc for healing since some people kill Anders. They may need another dual wield warrior since some may kill Fenris.

The healing in this game is bad, but the bottom half of his vengeance tree is op. If you don't see that then your doing it wrong.Raycer X wrote...
