I like the set up you have here. Here's hoping that my LIs live til the end!Celtic Latino wrote...
Multiple endings that have branching outcomes depending on:
-Your alignment
-Your chosen love interest
-Your personal choices made
Sacrifice: Shepard, his/her chosen love interest sacrifice him/herself for the galaxy
Council: Shepard joins either an Interracial or Human Only Council and leads
Marriage: Shepard marries his/her chosen love interest and (if possible) settles down and starts a family
Spectre: Shepard continues life as a Spectre
Cerberus: Shepard becomes the next head of Cerberus or a new organization (Renegade)
Reaper: Shepard becomes indoctrinated and/or sides with the reapers willingly
I can see:
-My canon paragade vanguard putting away the guns and settling down to become Mrs Taylor (or Vega if he's likable enough, not going to judge till I play the game)
-My paragon sentinel having marriage and little blue children with Liara (I want to make good on that promise)
-My paragon soldier sacrificing himself to save the galaxy and forever be remembered in history
-My neutral engineer riding off into the sunset with Jack and settling down on Eden Prime, giving both a chance for a new life in peace
-My renegade infiltrator to become the head of the Human Alliance or possibly Cerberus complete with Ashley and Miranda as his personal har-I mean, guards
-My renegade adept to become totally indoctrinated to the Reapers or become a Reaper herself and cause massive amounts of destruction just because she's inclined that way
-My renegade vanguard to stay true to Ash and possibly continue life as protectors of humanity and the galaxy
I want to see a variety, in other words, and hopefully not text epilogues like in Origins but really see them play out before our eyes (the 'holiday 2011' to March 2012 delay better be worth it in other words).

That said, ME is about choices and as such there will likely be multiple endings based upon your actions leading up to this point. Thus, there will likely be ending with varying degrees of bitter sweetness ranging from we won but I had to sacrifice a friend to do it all the way to Shepard is the last one standing and none of his team made it out, heavy HEAVY casualties for all races and civilization just barely still hanging one. Of course, there will also be the tragic ending of getting turned into reaper goo as well.

Yeah that's true you do get all the horrible choices by default or not importing from me1, you have my support!!
to be honest, outside of keeping Ashley and killing the council, I have no idea wut other decisions were made for me or how that effected my ME-2.
Here's a list of the defaults for a new ME2 with no import:

Hope that's what you were after

An interesting ending.
I want the revelation of the Reapers creators/purpose/intent to be frankly, shocking, mind-blowing, and then having to make the decision to let them destroy the galaxy or stop them to be the hardest decision ever seen in a video game.
I would definately love some mind-blowing revelation where the reason for the Reapers galactic destruction cycle has some purpose so compelling and logical, that it would almost seem like the better choice (in the long run) to let them continue the cycle, and not just some generic "we destroy the galaxy because we need food and are evil" endings where the choice is obvious.

I want an ending that makes people weep of joy to finally have their hands on hope, and have them cry at the same time on how much it did cost to get there.

Apparently we already have the "Et tu Brute" part of the game.
1) Heroic (achievement) -- this can be the "ultimate sacrifice" (achievement) where Shepard gives his/her life to save everyone else, "everyone lives" (achievement) and the Reapers are defeated.
2) Russian (achievement) -- through your own faults you miss an opportunity, make a wrong decision, or fail to achieve a mission goal where someone gets away, or you weren't able to obtain a particular piece of tech, no one in your party dies so as not to make it obvious). This is one where a paragon decision comes back to bite you in the arse.
Here it launches module in the game where things are slightly different. You might still be able to defeat the reapers but the cost is going to be huge (not just the MC's life and maybe not Sheps life at all), and Shepard's LI dies horribly (achievement -- Dr. Zhivago). Or you might have missed something that would have allowed you to defeat the Reapers, and thus the galaxy is doomed (achievement -- Charlie Foxtrot). But you don't find out until the very end. You know, an ending that makes you want to throw the controller through the television.
Now Bioware could handle this in two different ways -- you could replay the game several times until you make the right decisions. Or they could make a HIDDEN save game to the point where you made the first bad decision that precipitated whichever ending, but make that decision insidious so that you're not sure which decision is the absolute correct one.
I think this would add to the replayability of the game. The Russian ones would depart from the traditional Bioware endings. Thoughts?
PS: add one achievement "and the horse your rode in on" for defeating Harbinger so you don't have to listen to "We are your salvation through your destruction" for the rest of the game.

I want an ending that is not perfect. No bunnies and sunshine. I don't even want it to end, I want no conclusion. The Reapers are a threat so massive a scale, not single game can bring them down. I want an ending which when having got everything right, leaves Shepard and an alive team having acquired nothing more but the chance to stop the Reapers. And if they didn't get everything right, that chance will come at high costs. And definetely worlds of hurt higher than that "suicide" mission had in ME2. And with everything right, I mean optimal mission outcomes, not "sunshine and sweets" paragon talking. Everyway is to be walked on shattered dreams, broken hearts and ripped bodies, every character will have to walk through hell, just to have the faintest hope in the end.

This is the final game of the trilogy. Not concluding the story in some fashion at this point would be.....a catastrophe. Foolish. Idiotic even.

I'm tired of reading about how the Reapers are going to win, and we should all just get melted into pudding and get fed to a baby reaper. (Way to stay positive guys!) This is all so depressing, but I do think that the Reapers winning would be a kind of cool optional ending that would be really hard to achieve. Kind of like the ending in mass effect 2 where shepard and the rest of the crew die except for Joker. However, I am going to strive for an ending with icecream and unicorns that poop rainbows. I want shepard to save and unite the galaxy, kick some Reaper *** and walk off into the sunset with his/her love interest. What kind of ending do you want?
I think it has been stated that ME3 won't end the typical way games do where we slay every bad guy in a blaze of glory and go and have a big party afterwards.
I am hoping for a ending that results in the reaper's defeat, a more stable universe between aliens and humans, and for shepard to die sacrificing himself to save his crew or a large number of people.

I meant the Reapers, sorry, should have clarified that.
Just like Ashley said, "This is going to be a war we have no place in". What can a single man and his squad do against those Reapers?
That's like having a group of twelve Navy SEALs fighting against a tank battalion. Sure, they can blow up two or three, but that's it.
Shepard, no matter how exceptionally skilled s/he and her/his team is simply can't defeat the Reapers. It is physically impossible. That is a job the civilizations of that Galaxy have to do, and taking out an armada of superiour enemies isn't going to be like "Rally everyone = Instant win".
What I meant is that Shepard concludes HER/HIS story/trilogy by achieving the means by which the civilizations have a chance to fight back. There is nothing more s/he could do. And I want the Reapers to deserve their justice as a true, galactic-wide menace. I would be severely disappointed if it took just a half of the game to destroy the entire Reaper threat.

I would like their to be some form of commitment between Shepard and his/her LI, but it can't just be a single option of something as full on as marriage - I'd be quite happy to have the LI move into Shepard's Normandy quarters permanently.
I'm want the game to come to a conclusion that isn't left hanging, either defeat the reapers or avert Galactic war, or give us an ME4.
And if nothing else, I want to 'airquote' the Turian concillor back when he does it to me; something along the lines of "Ah, yes, 'Council support' "

Personally, I don't want Shepard to die, because I want DLC to take place both during and after the main storyline - I want DLC about hunting down Cerberus/Reaper/husk remnants, and things like that.

Inevitably, the humans are reaperized with Shepard as 'brain' when TIM betrays us. All sentient aliens bombarded from space and/or husked and/or Collectered except for Liara T'Soni (who is confirmed to appear in ME4).

The citadel is gone leaving the mass relay system inoperable cutting of all the civilisations from each other and their colonies.
In short the races survived but with a terrible cost - all the civilizations has to be rebuild/reinvented - isolated and with a hell of a job ahead of them (this could lead to totally new forms of civilizations to rise).
Que Mass Effect mmo set 500 years later.

Bittersweet endings are often the most memorable... kinda hoping for that.
yeah. barely saving the day, straining your abilities to their breaking point, having to make very hard and sometimes tragic tactical decisions. FEELING like it was almost the end of the galaxy. lots of possible endings, so there can be lots of discussion with other players about how THEIR game turned out. lots of replayability too.
