2. Shepard dies, galaxy harvested, message sent.
3. Shepard dies, galaxy saved but in ruins.
4. Shepard dies, galaxy saved and in decent condition.
5. Shepard lives, galaxy saved but in ruins.
6. Shepard lives, galaxy saved and in decent condition.

We see the interior of a small, working-class apartment in 2011. Ashley is sitting on the sofa, reading a newspaper. An obviously autistic Joker is sitting on the floor, staring silently at a small snow globe containing a model of the Normandy. Shepard (who obviously works in construction based on the clothes he wears) enters the apartment after a long day of work, takes off his jacket and hard hat and hangs them on the coat rack. Shep and Ash smile briefly at each other before Shep turns his attention to Joker.
"Did he give you any trouble today?" Shepard asks Ashley.
"No, he never does." She replies. "He just stares at that spaceship snow globe all day long. I wonder what he sees in there."
"Me too, honey." Says Shepard.
End Scene. Roll credits. Cookie for the reference.

Here's how I see it: The last Reaper is destroyed in a bright flash then fade in.

Bittersweet endings are often the most memorable... kinda hoping for that.
This, and hopefully there aren't many I win cards to play regarding the big decisions, since they're supposed to be similar to Virmire, except on a bigger scale.

I like to imagine my Shepard completely destroying the criminal organization Cerberus, and once gathering all the council races along with the Krogan, Geth, Quarians, and Rachni fight a victorious but costly battle against the reapers.
The quarian migrant fleet is all but destroyed but they managed to regain their homeworld through a peace agreement with the geth and will rebuild there, their sacrifice won't be forgotten by the council who eventually grants them a embassy on the citadel.
The turains would be the ones who lost the most from the fight against the reapers, eventually the krogan led by Urdnot Wrex would fill in the void left by them and would take their place on the council as one of the defenders of the galaxy.
The true geth seeing that the organics would leave them in peace descended back to where they came, only to be seen on the rarest occasion.
And of course no one would forget humanity's role in saving all life as we know it, decades after humanity would still have the complete trust of all races in the galaxy.
Although many respected the rachni afterwards, they were still reluctant to join the galatic community, maybe they still felt guilty for their race's past deeds? Even though they were granted an embassy, if would still be long before they would join.
Other than that still would stay the same, Asari and Salarians still remain on the council along side the krogan and humanity.
But what of Shepard? I like to imagine him still serving as a Spectre of the council, dealing with what ever threats to galatic community rose, these were mainly in the form of ragtag groups of the near extinct batarians, and turians who were resentful of their race's fall from power. But when shepard was allowed vacation time where would he go? He would visit the asari world of Thessia, to spend his time with accomplished scientist, and lover Dr.Liara T'soni.

No one, not even pure paragons/renegades, should win this game without losing people. The suicide mission was a case of leadership skills and being prepared. This is all out war on a galactic scale where you can't win without losses even if you do the "right" choices. There should be choices where, if done wrong, could result in more deaths than normal, but even constantly doing the right ones won't save everyone.
I pretty much want an ending where it isn't anti-climactic sun-shine and lollipops ending, but I also don't want a "lol reapers win you lose everything you did was pointless!" I want a heroic ending that shows even after all the hell Shep and his team has gone through he will not be defeated. If Bioware does make almost every teammate die in ME3 over the course of the war (which I HIGHLY doubt they will) I won't mind AS LONG as there is a reason for it. I don't want ME3 to be filled with horrible events with no real reason other then to cause an "emotional" reaction. I need a reason for it to be happening.
Should people have the option to let the reapers win? I suppose the option could be nice. Though remember DA:O? No matter what you did you still defeated the archdemon, just in very different ways with different outcomes. Look at NWN, you HAD to kill the final boss, you couldn't just die and the epilogue would kick in. So now let's look at the original question: should Bioware add the option to let the reapers win? Well like I said it would be nice, but not many of their other games allowed you to NOT kill the final boss. Heck even KOTOR you killed the last boss, though you could go all "I'M THE NEW BAD GUY!" and kill everyone, but the point is you still HAD to kill the guy first. So it's (imo) unlikely that there would be that specific type of bad ending but I suspect they will have a DA:O type of bad ending where you and maybe others could sacrifice yourself/ves to save the rest of the galaxy.
