I'll admit, I was a little reluctant to get Legacy, but boy, am I glad I did!

An original Darkspawn. Wow. Gotta admit, I was expecting the original Darkspawn to be female (like a Broodmother), but what the hey. Corypheus was all kinds of cool. I only wish I could actually side with him, since that was the whole point of me betraying Larius, who I actually really liked. Would've made a damn good mage party member. :D

And can I just say, I really like the new Genlocks. They actually look like their Broodmothers, all fat and stubby. The Genlock Alphas were a really interesting challenge (especially the one that runs up and down the long bridge/hallway in the deep roads), though the Hurlock Alphas lacked the same kind of personality. It was like, oh hey, here's a kickass Hurlock who doesn't look wierd and pasty-white like the others, but it lacked the same kind of OOMPH that the Genlocks did. Then again, Genlocks have always had more personality than Hurlocks. No biggie.

Also, it was kind of a pain that I couldn't tell Varric about his Legion of the Dead ancestor after the DLC. I assume he reacts DURING the DLC, but if you don't bring him, you seem to just miss out altogether. Lame.

But overall, oh my god Francine, these Chocodiles, oh. my. god. this DLC. OH. MY. GOD. Amazing.

lol its Varric, he doesn't care. I don't think you have someone in your party, who is living a thousand years in the past and believes everyone should get down on bended knee for them lol. I like the new Genlock too, but that Alpha was leveling my mage, and she's a Force Mage. I cant remember the last time she got knocked down.

I don't know if he is an original Darkspawn, it sounds like he was saying, Dumat coaxed them to go after the Golden City, but it was already the Black City when they go there. So the whole story about them tainting the city and becoming Darkspawn and thrown out by the Maker, seems to in fact be, absolute nonsense.

Oh yeah, that bit went right over my head. :D
If it wasn't the Magisters that blackened the City, I wonder what did it?

How do we know it was ever golden in the first place?

The only living witness of the time is cory himself.....

Maybe the mages were lead to believe it would be golden so that they could do the work of some evil entity.

The whole maker and andrestae could just be apocraphal stories.....

For some reason, I'm amused by the possibility that, as they stormed the supposed 'golden city' to find it black and tainted, in their final moments before their minds were sundered:

Tevinter Magister: "What?! What is this! This is no Golden City! We were promised the powers of the Maker himself!"
From deep beneath the earth: *muffled trololol sounds*

Oh Dumat, you're such a prankster.

I thought of that possibility but the way he was talking, it didn't seem like that. It sounded like they arrived and they were just walking around the place and it was just a broken mess. According to the Chantry, the Maker put the boot their ass himself. So the city was gold when they got there, but then it became tainted, What Cory said seems to contradict that, in fact, they way he talked and maybe this is just me jumping to conclusions, its sounds like they had never even be in the Fade.

Man i realy loved how Origins created the whole myth and how the codex pages and some NPC Slightly gives hints about what really may have happened, and DA2 took all that and just trew it away, but the DLC make it up for the main campaing, i too think there was no Golden City, and the whole thing about the Maker being there was just something made up by Dumat and the chantry just used the tale to force opression on the mages, now what i really want to see is how all this connect with the Elven Gods and Forgoten Ones, man it was AWESOME to see one of the ACTUAL Magister that invaded the Fade,i wonder where flemeths connect with the story, she obviously is a part of all this, i am really loving the direction this DLC took us ;]

i think he said that when they got there everything was alredy dark and tainted, there was no light, no power of the maker and only corruption, so yes i think they set foot on the fade and on the Black City(obviously fooled by Dumat), i think that maybe the city was some sort of prison or seal for something.

It could be that the chantry did not know that something else tainted the city. I mean the magisters went to the city, fell and became darkspawn, so it's not they were wrong about that, maybe the Maker was driven off by something else, maybe 'Dumat' is the maker and was calling for help but it arrived too late?

I can't wait to play the dlc.

What's more interesting is the old gods wanted them to go to the "golden city and take the power from the creators. Not a creator, but creators. Gaider also said that the old gods are not creators, they are something else.

The other question is also, was it always corrupted? Is it the source of a taint? Did something bad happen there? So many questions.

ALot of events in this dlc point that the Chantry is not telling the full truth when it comews to darkspawn.

Hmmmmm....

It's possible the maker is not one god, but the elven pantheon of 9 gods , just the chantry messed it up.

It's possible what the elves call the -forgotten ones- are the "old gods"

It's possible that Fen'Harel: The Dread Wolf tricked them...

Lord of Tricksters and bringer of nightmares. His supposed betrayal of the gods of both good and evil by sealing them away in their respective realms

So dumat one of the tricked gods, called to the trevinter mages through the fade .... teaching them magic and such.... with promises of the golden city or what not.

But when the mages reached the city, it was the black city.... as fen had already sealed the elven gods /the maker away...

The Golden City exists or existed in the fade....as the black city is always visiable from within it..

It could be the maker is -one- god and the dalish simply worship different aspects of him as different individuals...

I don't know, but you can't have two religions with creator gods responsible for this world. Likely same gods, different telling....

I think the more interesting thing is that it is Grey Warden armor.  It's called "of the Silent One."  Dumat, whose temples were in the prison, was the Tevinter god of silence.  It follows then that this armor would be one of Dumat's clergy.  Yet it's clearly the same design the Wardens use.  Which leaves with an odd question.  Could it be that the Wardens were originally an off-shoot of Dumat's followers?!

Well the armor is left there because a Commander of the Grey was left locked in with a demon so he can give the other Grey Wardens a chance to escape. And in the codex page it talks about his armor and I found the gauntlets, boots and chest plate but no helmet. I'm guessing it's in one of the rooms that is being blocked by the blue and red barriers. Opinions?

Helmet is discovered after the vortex puzzle... which is fairly simple... don't worry about trying to keep all three levels matched up....just do them in order orange, blue, red.

For the helm, after activating the three power nexus things (red, blue, green) go back to the room where you had to connect the streams of light (can't help but think of Ghostbusters when Larius talked about doing that, and just thinking that it could be a bad thing to cross the streams), and after connecting all the streams again, all of them to White, the barriers open, and BAM, Helm of the Fortress. Was hoping for a big demon fight like hinted at in the codex, but no.

This is what I've been thinking as well that the old gods/arch demons are really the forgotten ones and were sealed deep underground... still leaves where the elven gods like Mithal etc were sealed a mystery if they were indeed sealed in different places/realms that does not include the Fade... or maybe they're in a part of the Fade inaccessible
to mortals or wherever Morrigan went through the Eluvian.... in which case she could have been bringing the soul of a forgotten one into a realm where the elven pantheon are.

....watch as I speculate wildly!

This was my understanding aswell, except I assumed The Dread Wolf took the status as "The Maker" for humans since he had locked away all the other gods.

I wondered if the old magisters (Cory included) were led to believe they were in the golden city and it was their powers they would be taking...

Corypheus

Dumat. You promised us the power of the gods! But city was black. Tainted. It was supposed to be Golden!!!

He never once mentions the maker. According to the Chant of Light and the Chantry, the old Tevinters went there trying to usurp the power of the Maker. He never once mentions him, and seems to have gone there at the behest of Dumat.

Yup, this is something that proves the Chantry is not tellingt he full truth, also this happen two thousand years ago and the attacks happen underground before it even hit the surface, another Chantry lie.

She was just a very  powerful mage that hated the empire, nothing more, nothing less.
