I wanted to post a in memory for Gary considering today is
his birthday. Once again, thank you Gary for sharing with us your creations and
ideas. I hope that we can be inspired to continue your legacy for generations
to come.

I will be taking a moment to remember why I started playing
RPG’s  and I will be thinking about how I
can help bring the experience of RPG gaming to a new generation .

I once had the pleasure to interview Gary Gygax, sadly the transcript as it was an email interview, was lost many years ago.

The man was thoughtful, articulate polite he always played down his own contribution and instead talked about how things had just run away and carried him with them in many ways.

This was around about the time 3e had launched and he was no longer connected with DnD and was trying to launch his own system.

I considered it an honour at the time and looking back a genuine highlight of my online time.

Rest in peace and thanks for all the fun you helped enable Gary.

I met GG at a Gencon convention (forget which one, it was over 20 years ago though). An interesting experience.

For some reason, I thought he would have been bigger ;)

RiP GG. Thanks for the many, many hours in fantasy land. D&D saved my behind. I would probably be dead now, or locked up somewhere, if it had not been for D&D captivating my interests.

Unfortunately, most of the games he created after D&D were flops.

Aye, but IMO he made some real quality stuff which unfortunately didn't meet people's interest. Dangerous Journeys and Lejendary Adventure are both masterpieces.

RIP Dungeon Master.

It is always well to also keep his original partner in mind, Dave Arneson, creator of the original Blackmoor Castle "dungeon" in the very beginning, in the mimeographed rules book days, before there was a "D&D Red Box".  If I recall correctly, both of them died close together in time, just slightly more than a year apart.
