Choice Effect - a choose your own adventure game based on Mass Effect

I've commenced work on this project now. It has the working title of Choice Effect and will be set after the ME2 DLC Arrival and ME3.

Still working on the story but it begins with your character about to board a Freighter that has been found abandoned on the edge of the Hades Nebula.

Atm I am trying to sort out the character stats as the player can choose a race and class for their character.

Here are the stats I've come up with so far. Just curious to see what people think of them.

the stats that matter are; Pistols, Shotguns, Assault Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Armor, First Aid, Training, Fitness, Tech Skill and Biotic Skill.

At the very start of the game the intial stats are;

Pistols 1
Shotguns 0
Assault Rifles 0
Sniper Rifles 0
Armor 1
First Aid 1
Training 1
Fitness 1
Tech skill 0
Biotic skill 0

Then depending on the race the player picks the following stats gain additional point(s)

Asari = Biotic Skill +1 [edited was +2]
Human = Pistols +1
Krogan = Armor +1 [edited was Fitness +2]
Quarian = Tech Skill +1 [edited was +2]
Salarian = Fitness +1 [edited was Tech skill +1]
Turian = Training +1

Finally the choice of class adds these additional points

Soldier = +1 in all four weapon stats
Engineer = +1 in Pistols, +2 in Tech Skill
Adept = +1 in Pistols, +2 in Biotic Skill
Infiltrator = +1 in Pistols, +2 in Sniper Rifles, +1 in Tech Skill
Sentinel = +1 in Pistols, +1 in Tech Skill, +1 in Biotic Skill
Vanguard = +1 in Pistols, +1 in Shotgun, +1 in Biotic Skill

So I'm curious do you think they work? Do you agree with the way I've put the stats? Should certain one be made weaker/stronger etc?

This will not be a text adventure on this forum but a choice your own adventure game made using choicescript

google 'choice of games' and you can see other games made with choicescript.

Are Salarians just as good as Quarians when it comes to tech stuff? I've always thought they were more biological science ie genophage, uplifting Krogan?

If thats a problem I can always put them both at +1.

Actually, though they are both tech, you are right: Quarians are more electrical/mechanical tech, whereas salarians are more biological. For example, Tali ingame has skills which affect/involve synthetics (AI hack, combat drone, Shield drain), where as Mordin has skills which affect organics (cyro/incendiery blast, neural shock or whatever it's called). So maybe you can initially give them both +1 tech, but as their skills "branch off", have salarians focus more on organics and quarians fcus more on synthetics.

Unfortunately I have only just started using choicescript so making branching skills would be too difficult for me, I'll just have to make sure so no one race is automatically better than another. Guess I better alter the stats a bit more

No one uses pistols, making humans redundant. Why not have more than one skill bonus for each race, so they can make more sense?

Choice Effect game update.

The player will be able to name their character and choose both their race, gender (apart from asari) and their class.

The stats will be;

Firearms [1]
Training [1] Human +1
Fitness [1] Turian +1
Armor [1] Krogan +1
Medical [0]
Science [0] Salarian +1
Technology [0] Quarian +1
Biotics [0] Asari +1

The classes and their bonuses

Soldier [firearms +2]
Engineer [technology +2]
Adept [biotics +2]
Infiltrator [firearms +1, technology +1]
Sentinel [technology +1, biotics +1]
Vanguard [firearms +1, biotics +1]

As this is just for a bit of fun and shall be free to play, I'd be happy to put anyone in the game just reply to this topic with a character name, race and a bit of info about them and I'll try and thread them into the story :)
