After eons I reinstalled BG1 and played it. It is still one of my favorite.

However when I tried to import my last saved game into BG2 it only gave me a blank screen. I do not remember the steps I need to take.

Also I played as a Thief so I dual classes Imoen at level 2, will that transfer ?

Copy your saved game from the BG1 to the BG2 save folder. Then, when you start a new game in BG2 press the import button at the start of the character creation screen - this allows you to use a character from the saved game.

Changes made to characters in BG1 will not transfer unless you are using the Baldur's Gate Trilogy (BGT) mod. If you want to set Imoen up as a specific type of character you could either do this using the Level 1 NPCs mod (you will need to make changes before starting a game if you use this) or using Shadowkeeper.
