the only way the 'krogan' would join is for creds, they're not a unified society like when they were approached to dispatch the rachni. this is an utterly ruined race of people, most of which don't live anywhere near the homeworld but are merchs for hire, hard to see them all coming together and uniting for anything, even a war against the turians.
as for the council it kinda depends on your own ME canon. a council of humans would try to force the other council races to join against the turians, a council of aliens would more than probably side with the turians or at the least try and force peace, much like the og treaty.
i can't see any other races joining the humans as they all hate us(anyone else remember ME1?), literally all alien species feel we're getting undue attention, that we're arrogant, spoiled upstarts and not worth the time, so regardless of who's on the council there would be no other races joining us.
as for fair fights, we know the turians bombed a civilian human settlement that General Williams ran to for safety, bombing huge city blocks full of civi's from space just to get at a few marines, how's that for fair tactics? this would be war, they'll drop a horrific genetic disease on us at the drop of a hat and bomb our woman and children from space. humainty just isn't in a position to defend against those odds. personal feelings aside pure logics says turians hands down.

Turians would win NOW, but in a decade or two humans will be inevitably the master race of the Citadel and especially if renegade Shep wipes out the council, the Turians will have a hard time gathering allies.
Humans also have fair access to WMDs.

Humans. The only war the Turians have won was by cheating and using a Salarian Virus. They've been unable to do anything else and rely on other species in order for their society to function.
Humanity won every war it's ever fought in the Galaxy, forced an older race out of the Citadel and their actions have attracted the attention of the most powerful entities known, yet still triumphed.

Could it be that the writers are human and it is typical of the vast majority of science fiction films and games where humanity wins over the threat?
Or do you think an advanced race of sentient machines which has wiped out races far more advanced than humans and the Citadel races for the last few hundred million years wouldn't have any trouble stamping all over the current fractious Mass effect species. I don't think arguing, well humans always win, is any semblance of an argument. Be it regarding Turians, Reapers or anything else.

Humans win, but only bcuz the Turians Sibmit. Turians would exterminate humans.
especially in melee.
I think we'd have better weapons, but they'd have better tactics.
