I have a question regarding the effects created with the EffectAreaOfEffect call. The impact scripts for several spell effects in the toolset call this routine and they have dedicated scripts for the On Enter, Heartbeat and On Exit parameters. (For example, the scripts for the web spell.) However, there are some effects that do not have such scripts. An example of this is the dragon fear special ability. These impact scripts just pass the appropriate AOE_MOB_* parameter to the EffectAreaOfEffect call.

I've tried looking through the 2da file for something that defines these effects, but I had no luck. (Not even in the Area of Effect 2da file.) Per chance, does anybody know where these AOE effects are defined? Are they hard coded into the engine like many of the other effects? There are some notes in the spell impact scripts, but often those are not very specific. It doesn't detail the save DC value based on the caster HD, for example.

Thank you.

They are defined in vfx_persistent.2da, as well as quite a few other things.

You can override the scripts in the declaration, but they are actually defined in that 2da file.

If so, then the name is misleading. Thanks, I'll take a look.

Yes, that file has what I'm looking for. Thank you!
