It's underpowered, and has a boring/stupid/unoriginal gimmick that can only be used by one player.
Will be expensive.

It's not underpowered. the exact specs for the WiiU are curren't unknown, but Nintendo has said that the WiiU will get more power than the PS3. The WiiU will probably the first TRUE full-HD console (both the Xbox360 and the PS3 aren't truly full-HD).

The controller is not unoriginal and it certainly isn't a gimmick. It opens up new possibilities for awesome gameplay. Please don't judge the controller before you've seen actual games running on the WiiU. So far we have seen nothing yet. We've seen the concept for the WiiU, but we haven't seen the WiiU in action. Please don't judge until we've seen some actual WiiU action.

The thing with the Wii is that although it's a really inovative and original console with a lot of great games, the 3rd pary support could've been better. Many early 3rd party games were just basically PS2 ports with some slapped on motion controls.

There should definitely go a lot of props to HVS for making The Conduit, which is one of the best 3rd party games made on the Wii. HVS really made an effort in The Conduit. Unfortunately most reviewers gave the game some criticism for being too "generic". While MW2 made game of the year. These "professional reviewers" tend to baffle me more often that not.

Nintendo seems to have gathered a lot of 3rd party support this time around though, so hopefully WiiU won't go through the same thing as the Wii did.

All this talk about 3rd party support is strange. It wasn't 3rd party games that made the Wii such a success, and people don't buy Nintendo systems so they can play the same games that are on the other systems. Who really wants to play Call of Duty on the Wii U?

I think the controller is a gimmick in the sense that it's a novelty item that exists only to drum up attention. The benefits of the touch display are pretty minimal, and get seriously overshadowed by the drawbacks.

The Wii was working out really well for Nintendo, and now they're foolishly trying to beat Sony and MS at their own game. This is going to backfire spectacularly.

Nintendo is even pissing away the success of the DS with the 3DS. They are truly dedicated to snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

I think the only problem with the DS is that they made too many versions of it. Had they stopped at DS Lite and then put out the 3DS a few years later, skipping both DSi and DSi XL then they would have much better sales on the 3DS. Part of the problem was the crappy line-up (which will get better by Christmas) and the other part of the problem was the whole didn't-I-just-buy-a-stinkin'-DS complex.

I just hate the fact that the 3DS...didn't get a price cut...it got a price rape. They mutilated that price until the top half slid off the bottom and a fountain of blood erupted from the wound.

The WiiU also has the issue of simply being Wii's answer to Third Party Games...the sales pitch is basically "Hey, you know Call of Duty, Battlefield 3, and Resident Evil? Well now you can also get a Wii U version of it!" The fact that most people own a Wii and one of the high definition consoles, the idea that they would need to buy the Wii U in order to simply play games that are available on the 360 and PS3 is asinine.

Reason I don't what I've seen of it?
The Wii was developed to allow you to use your body to control the game (with limitations).
The Wii was then outperformed by the Kinect.
Nintendo go for a controller with a HD screen built-in (oh yey!), and basically ignore their selling-point on the original Wii. (unless that changed without me knowing)
And ultimately? Don't see the point. Have my own PC which I use to play games, might get Kinect eventually when some games which look interesting are developed for it. The Wii is outdated and the WiiU isn't going to be of any interest to me.

@KiddDaBeauty

First off, unless the WiiU is in your bedroom, the tablet will not work in your bed. It still functions as a controller. Holding the tablet looks really awkward, and to be honest I would rather get the Vita to connect to my PS3.

The Wii has sold over 70 million units. The Kinect has sold 10 million.

@Nigawatts there are going to be exclusives on the console as well. Ubisoft already announced that the Assassin's Creed game on WiiU won't be revelations. That would be a really stupid idea to just port existing games onto WiiU. There has to be a reason for people to buy it. And what better reason than exclusives (not only 3rd part exclusives but Nintendo exclusives)?
