Either way. Detailed answers are appreciated. I'm kind of digging my heels in and awaiting opinions.

Additional things to note:

  • I have 800 Bioware Points lying arround my account already, so it wont "cost" me anything Bioware doesn't already have from me, it's just whether I want this DLC or wait for something else.
  • DA2 is completely uninstalled, I'd have to repatch, remod and play a entire new playthrough.
  • I'm not an outright hater of DA2 exactly, but I do conceed that it's Biowares lowest point to date in terms of enviroments, variety of combat and, most importantly, storytelling. I'd give it around a 6.5/10. (For Contrast, the original DA:O is about an 8.5/10 to me.
These things factored in, is Legacy a worthwhile purchase?

But short answer: Its tied for 'Lair of the Shadow Broker' in terms of quality story-based DLC.

I despised DA2, but you should get Legacy, it's what DA2 should have been.

Legacy is what Dragon Age 2 should've been. It actually came tantalizingly close to presenting a moral decision that actually gave me pause, which is more than I can say for anything that happens in the main game, even if it annoyingly robs you of consequence for the time being.

The environments are, compared to the rest of DA2, gorgeous. This isn't Crysis, but it's clearly doing more with the engine than previously and the actual maps are well laid out and detailed, with some hidden sections and the occasional puzzle. There's certainly more enemy variety in there by simple virtue of there being more enemy types, some more interesting than others. Bronto's largely came across as being akin to ogres (as in, frontal knockback machines and little else), but the carta snipers and genlock alphas I enjoyed. And, whilst there's still enemy waves, but they're composed of a handful higher health elite types rather than mobs of low health fodder, they're far less common and they don't just appear from mid-air or drop from the ceiling. Little things like that.

Having purple!Hawke and Varric crack jokes with each other for virtually the entire time didn't hurt either.

Ignoring Hawke and the dialog system, it's a good add-on. It didn't make me want to finish the character I started for Legacy though.

Sorry if you have to go thru all that OP..
I'll say yes, I did like the dlc, alot story on it, more lore and somewhat new items, not great but thats what people forget, the champion set is the epic loot in DA2.

Best part of DA2 so far. However its not without its own flaws.

If all DA2 had been like this we would have a great game.

Its almost more like DAO.

It was certainly worth it for me. I wrote a longer review in the thread linked above.

Meh. It's more of the same of Dragon Age 2, and as you seem to only have mildly enjoyed that game I don't think paying more money for it is a salutary idea, do you?

Me too. Just a word of advice, if you go early on go empty. Every corpse/chest/crate had 1-3 *junk* loots. I was nearly full halfway through. lol

Why can't the junk be changed to coins? Death to junk/trash loot! Image IPB Sigh Image IPB

It's a staple of the series.

It should become extinct along with *mandatory* mini-games.

It was ok later on, I had more BP's to expand inventory space...but still so much of it. Image IPB

Legacy is pretty good :), they work hard on bringing some diversity into battle sequences.

Genlock Alphas are a bit of an annoyance, but aside from that it's pretty good.

The only problem is when you play it on a finished game, it makes you feel a bit sad that you can't play that character anymore after you finished it T_T.

I actually enjoyed this part of DA2 (Legacy), more than TW2. Speaks volume doesn't it?

I thought it was a great DLC. I was kinda surprised by it,I was expecting to be a little disappointed, like I was with DA2,but I had a lot of fun playing it and exploring the Deep Roads. It had a depth to it that DA2 was lacking and I loved the codex entries too.

DA needs more mini-games, like whack a nug or pin the tail on a bronto.

It also depends on why you didn't like DA2. If your issues were stuff like the recycled locations and the excessive use of illogical waves (and the other consequences of it being rushed), you'll appreciate Legacy. Legacy is essentially a polished DA2, what DA2 would've been had it not been rushed. So if your issues with DA2 where mostly due to its rushed nature, Legacy is the DLC for you.

On the other hand, if your issues with DA2 are about its fundamental design, this won't turn you around, as it's still DA2, just with much more polish.

How's the plot?
My main problem with da2 was that the lack of a proper story.
I actually though I'd finished the game when I beat the qunari boss I was so unsure what the point of the game was.

Just finished Legacy. I enjoyed it. Sure I could (like many people) find some criticisms. But I prefer to just sit back and enjoy the game. Good job. Please bring us another DLC.

Gamespot gave it a horrible score. I don't think I will get it.

Optional fine...mandatory not fine.

We should have a few rounds of wicked grace. I would bluff even Varric out of his coin. Image IPB

I enjoyed having a family connection and learning some interesting lore.

That's all I can say...no spoiler and all.

How about looking at the opinions on here especially those who didn't like DA2 but like Legacy.

The biggest problem with Legacy is how Bioware has the gall to nickel and dime people for it.

Aside from that, having watched a LP, I can say it has poor writing, lousy plot, uninspired combat, and a lot of linear level design. It also has minor storytelling throughout the dungeon, adds a lot of banters - some of which vary based on your circumstances, has some party-member specific cutscenes, worked in some puzzle content, tries to break up the flow a bit for less monotony, and did away with skydiving enemies in favor of allowing you to actually manage a battle. They even added traps either side can activate and a few different enemies as something to pay attention to. All in all 2½ hours of content, give or take. If you want to get the most party member content, then your party setup should be Carver/Bethany, Varric, and Anders.

I'd say the DLC doesn't improve on DA2. It just doesn't stoop to its worst failures. At most it's decent, but if you were to compare this DLC to all the other horrible DA DLC, which is what just about everyone on these boards would do, then I guess this would look amazing. Either way, if you don't mind paying for the DLC, it still isn't worth a full $10. Not from what I've seen.

That review is so wrong on so many levels, I don't even know what to say. Sound bugs? Enemies that don't die? WTF is he talking about? Then again, I stopped taking GS's reviews seriously a LONG time ago.

Either way, as the user above mentioned, the opinions of the people on the forums (especially those who disliked DA2 and appreciated the DLC) are much more worthy.
