Hello,
I appreciate anyone who reads this and lends assitance as I know this game has been out for a while now; in fact I wonder if anyone will even see this post. I just downloaded and installed ME2 from impulse but when I try to run it I receive an error that says "Direct3d failed to correct initialize. Please restart Mass Effect 2 to correct the problem." I have tried anything that I have been able to find on the internet but nothing has worked so far. Anyone have any ideas? Below are my specs.
Phenom X2 1090T x6 3.2ghz cpu
Radeon HD6870 video card, Directx v11.7
4GB DDR3 1600HZ/channel
Windows 7 64bit
I downloaded from Impulse.
I have all the updated drivers as well. Any assistance is appreciated.
P.S. I am currently re-installing it, which totally stinks because now I have to wait for it to download all over again.

It really wants the Dx9 part redownloaded / reinstalled, which is part of the install, and is getting mangled from picking up transmission errors. You need an absolute minimum of interference from anything during the downloads, and Internet Explorer has proven to be worst about accepting bad downloads, so if you use that, you need a better browser.

EA's online store will allow you to substitute THEIR digital version, instead, using the CD Key from Impulse, and that may solve your problem for you, but use a decent browser anyway, on principle (I can't tell you about doing that.  My ISP is very expensive for a version of service fast enough for large downloads, so I never do that).

I appreciate the quick response. I was looking at EA's website and I could not find out where/how to do this? Thanks

I'm afraid you'll have to get the Origins downloader from somewhere there, install that, and find your own way through it. I can't use such services myself.

Again I appreciate the quick response. I downloaded Origin and it had the game already waiting to be downloaded, which was nice. I paused my impulse dl and I am going to try the Origin dl; I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again!
