I'm going to try and start the game over (but no saves) and spawn Zhjaeve to see if she'll appear at all

ok, it worked, and she spawned correctly in the new game, so does that mean I have to start over again? *sigh* I worked so ahrd to get this far (level 13, ecl 15 cause of yaun-ti level adjustment) do you think I should jsut start over then, save a lot, and try to get that far? Maybe I should make a red wizard just for the hell of it or a barbarian since I'm raging at this game.

Tried spawning Zhjaeve at various points before the battle with garius, ok just before since I didn't leave a lot of archived saves, and I can't spawn her, must be the game got corrupted at some point.

Exported the character I created and used him to start a new game, tried using the dm to spawn zhjaeve, it worked, so it is the save file, is there anyway to uncorrupt the file or am I stuck having to restart the whole damn game and just powering through it?

Anyone know what could cause this - perhaps something blocking the blueprint ( co_zhjaeve.utc ) in Data->templates?? Seems particular to Saved games ..

Firerush : an idea, before another playthrough, make note of your exp. Take your current character and power-through to Brelaina, then dock yerself exp. to return the PC to what it had before


( oh, going back a step here, Does 'Zhjaeve' talk in the cutscene between Brelaina and Aldanon? "I felt your presence before my eyes fell upon you ..." etc. - if she does it would indicate that she actually spawns but is somehow model-invisible ... if not, then i'd guess something is stopping the blueprint from spawning an instance, which is probly the case, yada :\\ )

ps. potential work-around

I got to thinking that the problem might be with the file zhjaeve.ros in the Saves folder.

So loaded a game from way before Z. enters, increased my partysize, spawned the DM ( rs gr_dm, for those curious ), and spawned Zhjaeve - ok!

Then i exited, renamed zhjaeve.ros to zhjaeve~.ros~ and did same - no worky. If zhjaeve.ros is corrupt (it's been known to happen ..), try starting a new game and make a save - methinks this will create a new ' zhjaeve.ros ' file*. Copy that file to the corrupted Save ..


Load & try spawning her with the DM



* edit, looks like you'll have to progess past the tutorial at least (no .ros file on a test) or find a good copy of file elsewhere ( i can upload one fer ya if needbe )

even better,

start tutorial, spawn DM, AddCompanion->Zhjaeve. Make Save (careful not to overwrite others). Exit.

Transfer zhjaeve.ros from recent save to corrupt save folder.

I found the problem, there is no Zhjaeve.ros in muy main save folder, I'll see if I can fix that

problem solved, I created a new game, copied the zhjaeve.ros to my main save, and when I got the watch headquarters she was there and I can get on with the game.

You'll have to forgive me. I'm digging through the great Cambion/Tiefling divide and my head is spinning. One thing is clear... WikiPedia writers seem to be as careless as anyone throwing "devil" and "demon" around as synonyms.

Is it my imagination, or did they create 4th Edition just to rip up everything you thought you knew and confuse the hell out of everyone?

Thanks Firerush! That solved my problem too!

Losing or corruption of the .ros files of companions was typically a bug they claimed to have patched out.......so make sure you have updated to latest version to reduce the issue. Otherwise make sure you don't have any companions pets out which often triggers the bug. If you find a companion is missing in a game, it can cause many issues and the fix is always the same, copy the .ros and level as needed.

Finally got around to playing through NWN2 and was stopped by this bug, I made a copy of the save, downloaded the ros file above and put that in, loaded up (saved before Garius fight) and it all worked.

Thanks kevL - I'd invested too much time to stop playing or restart.

Others: don't forget you can create your own .Ros files by spawning the 'DM' from eg. the OC Tutorial, summoning the Companion necessary, and making a save.
