Sure... If the native Americans were greedy, colonialism-obsessed cutthroats who were only kept in check by some kind of International "Council"

Indeed and the Batarians immediately run to the Council for support, they however didn't seem to have any kind of problem doing the same thing to Asari colonies, as evidenced here...DonDaMon wrote...

The difference being humans settled zones that were not settled, of Batarian interest maybe, but not settled, Batarians stole a settled colony world and I don't want to think about what actually happened to the Asari there...
That doesn't excuse terrorism: they don't have to love us, in fact maybe they were wronged (who am I to judge?), but that doesn't excuse killing thousands of innocent civilians with raids and WMDs...DonDaMon wrote...
The Batarians did what they thought suited them the best, and that was declaring Humanity public enemy number 1.
Aside from the fact that you make it sound as if it were nothing, while it's actually a big problem in and of itself (since they don't enslave just other Batarians, but other species too), there's actually the fact ehy biggest problem with Batarians is their attitude: it's very aggressive...DonDaMon wrote...
Only downside about them is their slavery.
Aside from annexing other people colonies and engaging in a practice the Council openly bans (how did they manage to remain a Council species for 2000 years while practicing slavery is beyond me...), they seem to have a penchance for "showing off": in 1785 a Batarian fleet bombarded Mannovai from orbit apparently just because it could, and if you remember Kirrahe, Mannovai is one of the Salarian's oldest, most beloved and most important colonies...
This is your opinion and I'll respect it even if I do not agree...DonDaMon wrote...
Other than that Batarians deserve more of a chance to live than the parasitic Quarians who strip star system after system just to sustain their un important and un needed population that serve no major nor minor role in the galactic stage.
I won't however elaborate further: discussing about Quarian rights is beyond the scope of this thread...
In short, one should try to be as unbiased as possible, Batarians do not deserve all the bashing they get, but it's not like they are saints either... Just my opinion...

Good rebuttal, but i like them just because they are aggressive and don't care what others think of them, It can be argued that Humanity is just as aggresive as the Batarians.

Do you intend to actually make that argument? Or are you content with merely stating that it can be made?

I thought it was blatantly obvious, Liara even said as much, and even the fact that we can have an all human council dominating the other species is proof enough. Humanity tries too hard at finding it's place in the galaxy because "they are eager to take" and when they aren't given what they want they go ahead and take it anyways.

Not all aggression is created equal. The Alliance seizing power following the Battle of the Citadel is not at all comparable with the batarians seizing slaves from defenseless settlements. The batarians routinely exhibit a degree of violence, pettiness, and cruelty that is wholly absent from all but the most aggressive of human nationalists.
