I found the tombstone in the northern part of the east brecilian forest and got the revenant but nothing concerning the places of power quest; is this a bug or something else? Pls advise.

The revenant that spawns from interacting with the tombstone has nothing to do with the "places of power" quest. You want to click a little to the right of the tombstone for the place of power(which, again, is something completely separate from the tombstone and accompanying revenant).
