Legacy is definitely an improvement over the main game...

Getting a nice new stereo for your car is nice, but it will not make your car run better.
What they need is another combat AI patch, plus a pure "extra environment variations pack", to make the main game better. Additional DLCs to expand on the main story, esp. Act 3, are also necessary.
DA2's main plot has so much wasted potential. I'd rather they polish that up.

I agree but Legacy gives one hope.

There was nothing wrong with the main game that needed saving.
Development time to impliment more story to be honest. Act 3 could have used more. Maps is nice but I wasn't as bothered by repeating maps as others. The game just needed more story to me is all. That would have better compensated the lack of choices to me. I wouldn't say that Legacy is a giant leap in improvement. Though I did like the use of puzzles more. At least as a story DLC it has more going for it compared to some others by EA. Offers the players items, added story, puzzles, new dialogue for companions and so on. Sure there is not much in the way of choices. But Legacy so far did offer many things that DLC from Origins offered and then some to me. Upgrading a item to your liking? Unique puzzles. At least one hidden boss and so on.

I'd much rather they take what they've learned and apply it to new content than go back and waste time and money attempting to appease people who would not be satisfied by those kinds of patches anyway.iOnlySignIn wrote...

Inorite? They'd complain no matter what Bioware/EA does. Look at how long the game has been out. If people are still complaining to this day about the game? Then it's obvious that a few patches will never be enough to make them happy. In fact they'd probably just be mad that it doesn't look the way they pictured it.

Its not hard to be impressive in short burst, its like Lair of the Shadow Broker, its solid, but its something they had to keep up for 90 minutes as opposed to 35hrs. Its a lot easier to make something really short impressive like that, than do that over a whole game. The stuff in Legacy, hidden bosses, a new location, a puzzle etc. It looks real good over 3hrs, but if it were spread over the course of a whole game, which it was, minus the puzzles. It's not anything impressive on a grand scale. I don't think this took any dramatic leaps forward from what we saw in the main game, the fact that people enjoy it, shows they are just short sticking DA2. Hell all they did was add Genlocks.

Puzzles were in DA:O basic. As a matter of fact, there were two whole puzzle levels. The Sacred Ashes gauntlet and the Fade nightmare. They also happen to be my favourite parts of the game.Torax wrote...
Well they added the Genlocks & Puzzles. Puzzles were included in Awakening which was an expansion for Origins. I just was pointing out things they added that were a nice touch. Of course it's easy to set up a DLC. I'm not short busing the original. I only stated wishing it had more story lol.
I have a soft spot for puzzles in RPGs. Must be because my gaming tastes were honed by graphic adventures.

By entire game, do you mean DA2, or do you mean the entire Dragon Age franchise thus far?Stardusk78 wrote...
This is the conclusion that I have reached. I wish Bioware would continue such DLCs, it may not be enough to save the entire game but it goes a long way.
To echo others who have posted here, I don't think the game (DA2) needed "saving." It had it's good points, it had it's not so good points. What Legacy did, imo, is enhance the story and broaden the horizons a bit. I felt it was a great DLC and it did not diminish my enthusiasm for the game, or franchise, as a whole.

Complex fight layouts that allow the player to use the environment against the enemy.
A choice over who to side with, and which NPC you allied with actually changed the gameplay and which character you ended up fighting.
Varied, interesting environments that help to tell the story that's unfolding.
Layered, hilarious banter that isn't about MAGES AND TEMPLARS OMG every damn second.
Deep, involved conversations with family members that really build the idea of the Hawkes as a unit and make the PC/NPC relationships feel stronger, plus the establishing of some context and a sense of continued existence for the magically vanished second act sibling.
Yeah, that's totally just like DA2, all they did was add genlocks.
Definitely a big improvement on the base game, and it actually makes me optimistic about the series again, because it's clear they've understood and begun to work on many of DA2's worst failings.
