@Humanoid_Typhoon,

To clarify a technical detail, a Glock is actually significantly simpler than a 1911, though I suppose calling it more advanced is about right.

Well I know the difference in the blow-back systems,I meant the polymers and double stack magazine.

Also,sometimes simple can be more advanced,and improving on simplicity is always a good thing.

You don't need a book to know you can't live without resources. Humanity is an ever expanding race. Every year more and more people fill the planet. We would have had to escape sol at some point.

I can't respond without being a sarcastic sh*t to humanity in general....I think I will shut my trap now...:unsure:...^_^

You need to learn to love humanity. When you do we'll welcome you into the Cerberus blood brother/sisterhood with open arms.

So what I'm saying is you could give that glock to someone in 1911,and he wouldn't fully understand it immediately,but after using for a while he would understand and be able to duplicate it.(save for the polymers)

Well that's weird, I believe in Existantial Nihilism and am one of the most vocally supporting Cerberus promoters around.

But you clearly used the wrong example.

No I didn't. It's the same with everything. When Humanity made the steam train, did we immediately make the bullet train as well because of it? No.

Same thing with the Relays, especially since we didn't make them and just found them.

Tech steps aren't all the same size,you may first take one small step,but that step leads you to a much larger one,there was a reason I used two different examples,to show the size of the gaps,you used the one that was clearly labled as an example against your iPad.

The size of the tech gap between Prothean and reaper wasn't as large as you like to think,because they did reverse engineer a relay.

I still think humans could do it. The protheans did it eventually. It may take us hundreds, perhaps even two thousand years or more, but we would eventually figure it out. Liara's dad was keen to start doing it.

Dad? With the... thing...

Anyway, being able to or not is irrelevant. We would have used the relays eventually just like everyone else before us.

It's still too large. It's better to use it now and figure the rest later. Avoid overpopulation and all that.

Use them now, and prepare to shut them down at a moment's notice, if possible. That's my call.

I don't know where you're getting the idea I am against using the charon relay,I was defending saprhas point:sick:  of dismantling the umapped ones and reverse engineering them.

Can we even shut them down? I've always assumed the Reapers do it after each cycle.

It's still the same logic. We'd have to use them at some point.

Well, if we are talking about disabling/dismantling them, I don't see why not. I'd be more worried about trying to dismantle the Charon Relay and it going Arrival on us. That would be bad, IMHO.

@Arijharn,

Yes, actually, were're discussing the virtues (or lack thereof) of the Citadel's policy of not activating a Relay until the other side is mapped.

My take on it? Pretty wise. Not sure how you can test to see whether you found the Relay's twin yet until you turn it on though. The only way I think you could 'responsibly' open up a relay before you know where it leads is to heavily defend it beforehand and scout it out when you do, only initiating contact with other species if you have too.

Dad as in her asari parent that didn't give birth to her, can't remember her name... matriarch aethyta her name is, google can be handy.

They would have eventually used it (well they did) yes, but as I said I think we could do it, guess I'm just a glass half full type. Anyway I'll agree to disagree since neither of us look like their about to convince the other .

You can look back a page or 2 for the details of my position, but since the relays can be activated from either side, I don't understand how the Citadel policy would prevent an invader from just activating the Relay from their side.

Yeah, I know. In can't believe BW did that. I was here when the rumors started a year ago and then the SB vid turned up. cheap move BW, cheap move.

But what happens if someone used the twin of the one we destroyed? Ooops.....

And it would be more efficient to use the relays, since only the Reapers can use FTL for prolonged periods of time to discover other systems.

I'm a bit disappointed by it also, hopefully they will make up for it by giving us a decent aethyta/liara storyline. If they just leave it as they have then they shouldn't have bothered in the first place.

My guess is that the twin just wouldn't work.

Hard to say how the Reapers would react to someone dismantling their network. We wouldn't know that they were coming in any case.
