Except they don't improve the interests of the collective. How have krogan benefited from Council rule? Quarians? Batarians? Volus? Elcor?

The only ones that benefit are turian, asari, salarian. The rest remain in a precariously neutral limbo at best, and lucky they aren't extinct at worst.

The collective is galatic security, space, the council races, the council themselves, pratically everyone.

Of course the 3 main races benefit more than the others, but the others also benefit to a lesser degree.

The krogans are a seperate issue and its because of their own actions that the council felt forced into doing what they did, the quarians again the same although slightly different.

Security? Security for whom? The only races whose colonies are secure and immediately defended from aggressors are once again, the asari, the turians, and the salarians.

The others can only appeal for aid and hope their capricious gods fancy them on that day.

Thanks for reminding me why I created this topic, guys. These last two pages have been a great read, really enjoyed the parrying there.

Good job on keeping it clean as well, the mods would be proud.

Don't ask? Saren sends reports. Some of what he says in there will be fiction. But he'll never want to give a negative impression to the Council.

Yes, and every person in a position of administrative authority should just believe everything they read in their subordinates' reports.... That's the quickest way to get fired anywhere except for the government.

Anyone in a position of authority where they must delegate some of their responsibility remains accountable for that responsibility, not the person to whom it was delegated.

We should get away from the al qaeda thing altogether then, that way only leads to the darkside.

Basically my argument is this, if cerberus are the worst case scenario of what paragons think they are and if you factor in the worst possible scenario of what the base could do.

Then just the limited numbers or logistics that we think cerberus has (i say think because by all accounts were way off considering me3) wouldn't preclude them doing the things paragons fear they could do.

Is it probable they could, not really, is it possible, of course it is.

Of course the asari, salarians and turians colonies would be the most secure and most immediately defended considering they are the biggest and strongest of the races in the galaxy, that only makes sense irregardless of council or not.

But is the galaxy more secure with Krogans trying to take it over because of their numbers and attitudes or less secure because the krogans numbers and attitudes have been put down by the council?

Generally there is more security than not in the galaxy, as for appealing for aid, well it kinda depends on the case put forward and the location of those colonies.

Put forward a valid case and you get aid, don't or put colonies in places you shouldn't then you should expect less help.

Remember, the Spectres are above the law. And if you ask me, the only ask for reports because they don't want to know the truth sometimes.

Faking reports shouldn't be  astonishingly hard, Saren is a great...faker. I remember that chapter with him interrogating Jella.

@alperez,

I am definitely willing to let the Al Qaeda thing drop.

If you are talking in terms of possibility, they yes, there could be some severe repercussions for giving TIM the base. On the other hand, the Reapers winning the war is a far worse scenario than anything that Cerberus might cause.

I did choose to blow up the base, but mainly because I didn't want it coming back to bite me with indoctrinated Cerberus goons or some such during the war. Come 'Indoctrinated' Cerberus agents shooting at me, I'm going to be feeling pretty stupid. Given the available data at the time, I disagree with the judgment that there is more to gain from than risk of keeping the CB, but I can understand why people would do it.

Most of my time on this thread has been pointing out bad logic and false points. People mistake it for opposing their decision.

The Council remains responsible for Saren's actions because it is their authority that places Specters above the law. By maintaining their own ignorance, they are giving the nod to whatever any Specter does. Ignorance of a subordinate's actions does not protect you from sharing responsibility if you did not take adequate steps to prevent or remain informed of those actions.

I feel wierd jumping in on a discussion this far in, but all my other threads seem to have died.  There's no fun in discussing with yourself.:?

Remember that Avina says in the game that the volus and other species are not apart of the council specifically because they  have not proven to have the resources to maintain such an important position within the Galaxy.

The council therefore takes responsibility for all member species contained within the galaxy.  This works in Theory, but in practice however...

Those walls of quotes truly were painful to read, especially when people fail to code the format properly, ugh.

To my defense, this site is not what I would call "user-friendly".
And to me it is more painful to read a post where someone takes said wall-full of text and just says "you're wrong", without contributing anything to the discussion.  That's what I just call "fluff"
