Anyway. To have a conversation, or debate with others you need two things:

To agree on the simple facts of the debate (and if it isn't agreed upon at the outset, find them)

And respect other people's opinion as being at least somewhat valid (regardless of if you agree with the opinion)

We seem to be lacking on both counts.

Which is why it perplexes me that people continue to debate with the Lotions, Saphras, Phaedons, etc.

So many variations of "its pointless to argue with you" and yet people still are.

lol if you build three boats that sink you are a really crappy shipbuilder. Boats need to at least float. At the very least.

This seems to be Cerberus's problem by the way. Sure we violate human and alien rights all the time... but look at the other stuff we do!

Its that first part that people have a problem with. So. Yeah. That was actually an excellent analogy Lotion!

Back to agreeing on some basic precepts though. Can we at least agree that calling Cerberus a terrorist organization is valid? Because if it looks like a terrorist and acts like a terrorists...

I mean, this isn't to say that one can never work with terrorists when facing a threat to all organic life on the galaxy. But lets at least agree that Cerberus are terrorists right?

TL;DR
Also, please tell how the decision could not involve Cerberus seeing how the options are

Give it to them
Not give it to them

Also...I respect your faith in TIM and Cerberus, but the simple matter is you only see their failures,so how is it not logical to base a decision of that? You are given sufficient evidence to show that they are collosal failures,or at least always have near-misses.

Because:

A) they're not only faliures. EDI, Normandy2, Lazarus, human biotics are some of the fully sucesfull ones for starters.

B) Sheppard only gets called in to deal with a experiment gone wrong. He's not called to take a sctroll down a cerberus lab to see a experiemnt gone right. You have a number to compare to nothing.

If I decide to design and build my own boats..and I build 10 of them. 3 of htem sinks and I call you to help me pull them out of the water. Doee that make me a bad ship builder? You only saw the 3 that sank, so how could you tell?

C) Even when the experiment goes wrong, if the data is saved, the experiment is not a wash. Data is knowledge. Knowledge is the purpose of experiments.

D) We have been shown other factions are just as capable of f***-ups. So who's gonna research it? Do you think tehy have better chances?

E) Cerberus has been dealing with reaper tech longer than anyone, so they have the most experience with it. That makes them the best to actually do the research.

I want you to read what I wrote, and then read what you wrote, then I want you to absorb what was said especially the part about the near misses, you base your argument against blowing up the base on Cerberus' potential sucesses, which besides the 3 that didn't have any chance of negative outcome, you as a player have yet to see,so tell me o master of all things logical, why I can't base my decision on what I as Shepard have seen.

Well, if two major governments are both calling them terrorists, I'm not going to go against that. Mostly because there's really no point.

Hell, parts of Cerberus admits that they are terrorists.

If you're success ratio for boat building was 70% you would be a complete **** boat builder.

@Lotion. There will come a time when you realize how pathetic 'facts' are in the face of real life. Objective Truth is nice ideal but it has no place in reality.

Reality is subjective my friend.

I hope I didn't break your fragile little mind.

This was sarcasm, right? Right?

Yeah, most boat/plane/car/motorcycle/or any type of transportation manufacturer for that matter generally strive for 100% success.

The bolded part, yes.  But the part where I was trying to impress upon Lotion the failing of 'absolute truth' and 'true objectivity' was serious.

There isn't (likely) ANY absolute truth.  Certianly not in a video game.

And that's fine.  We don't have to strive for absolute truth in life.  Real life is dirty and complicated and shiny absolutes are hard to find.

Lets all play in the muck, shall we?

@Humanoid_Typhoon: Thanks for the spelling oversight. I do know the difference.

@Grand_Admiral_Cheesecake: Unless you do not play Mass Effect - in which case, it is not absolute truth. The illustration is only to point out the difficulty of claiming absolute truth.

@Grand Admiral:

Is Shepard Human? How does one measure 'humanity'? Does being nitted together from machine parts and labgrown tissue count as being human? Does the fact that she is part Reaper tech complicate the issue?

I can do this all day.

There isn't a clear cut definition for terrorism, leagally.  But a good definition would be 'Non-state or subnational entities commiting acts of violence against a state.'  Which is pretty broad, but I'm okay with broad terms.

Cerberus is not aligned with any government per say.  So I think it's okay to call them a 'non-state entity'

Here's some acts of violence:

Deliberately destroyed a settlement on Chasca by turning them into husks.

Thresher Maw on Akuze (yeah THAT Thresher Maw, the one Shep can be a Lone survivor of).

Assassination of Cluade Mannue.

These are just off the top of my head.  We can also add the expirenments they did on humans and Geth.  Remember Overlord?  Praggia?  Definate human right violations there.

Don't you think the actual use of terror as a means of attaining one's political/ideological goals is something that ought to part of the definition of terrorism?  Your definition can be stretched to cover practically any criminal activity.
