I think that was the biggest reason why he's the most unpopular squadmate from ME2. He was a bit standoffish with Shep at times. All squadmates have a "I'm out of dialogue for the moment" line, but Jacob's indicated that he was annoyed with Shepard. "Again? I'm not real big on forcing these talks Shepard."

Shep: "Well Fxxx you too, buddy!"

Even Garrus' "I'm in the middle of some calibrations" line was better. At least he had an excuse for brushing you off.

Well I think it's a little unfair to use dead-end dialogue, but I do have to agree otherwise. Really, I'm sick of this continuously perpetrated lie that Jacob is "stable."

First off, the only reason that word is used so much to describe him is because of that BS Shadow Broker dossier. Nothing about Jacob is "stabilizing" in the least. Not to the squad, and certainly not to me, as Shepard (only guy in the whole series who actively annoys me, without even trying).

And it's lame how you have people like Jack, Kaidan, and Thane get a bad rap for "complaining all the time" and Jacob doesn't because he acts all casual.
- Waah Alliance red tape.
- Waah I don't get credit for what I do (I said politicans do their jobs, and he was disappointed).
- Waah don't talk about the suicide-mission like we're all gonna die, Commander!

Kasumi in love with Jacob......anyone suspect that was arranged because of the complaints about Jacob? You kinda start to feel sorry for the guy when most of it's not his fault.....

I personally don't like the combination. I'd rather be able to romance Kasumi myself. If in the depressing chance that Kasumi doesn't turn up as an LI in ME3 then maybe she could be with Jacob...but I like her too much too see her with another man, especially a dull-personalitied Jacob.

Consider the fact that Miranda's been there, femShep sounds like she's on heat around him...I think it's more the case that BW is trying to push the "LOOK! Jacobs sexy!" envelope than anything with Kasumi...I think BW is just going to have to accept He is NOT.

Some of it is because the writers screwed up his romance dialogue and a Mass Effect meme was born from it. To be honest, the whole Jacob romance seemed more of a hook up than an actual romance. I can see why some people wouldn't want him to end up w/ Kasumi should that somehow ever happen. Jacob is only dull because he's the only disciplined soldier within a band of misfits w/ such diverse backgrounds and skills.

I don't see him so much as dull, but as cynical...something of a kill joy because of his cynacism....How I see the Kasumi issue, the only choices manShep has in regards to romance are also cynical, ruthless or a mixture of both (Tali...health and way too restrictive)...Shep really does need an upbeat choice....

That's it; cynicism. I guess that's one of the big things that found appealing about Jacob. I wouldn't have any of my FemSheps romance him but that's cool. I found out that if you mostly choose Renegade dialogue option w/ Jacob that he won't bring up any of the romance dailogue and after all dialogue is exhausted for Jacob he'll just throw a bro hug on my FemShep and mention how we're gonna spill some drinks on the Citadel if we all survive. That's it.

Not counting the Jacob romance, FemShep doesn't really have any upbeat romances, but I think that ManShep's romancing of Tali is upbeat, despite the whole Quarian immune system thing, but  I can see that you want to have just a regular happy romance and Kasumi would definitely provide that. As you are already well aware, I approve.

He may be dead in your playthrough, but he's still alive in mine. Doesn't matter if Kasumi is made an LI in ME3, though. Kasumi will shrug off all of Jacobs charms and priiize dailogue.

Jacob doesn't do anything wrong, he's nice guy. Just... other teanmate like Garrus is more attractive. Kasumi suits him well in personal opinion.
Back to the time when playing ME, I thought Kaidan and Ashley could turn out a cute couple but... you know...

Zaeed with Chakwas is my second choice.  I mean Zaeed and Aethyta are both story tellers in their twilight years.  I can just picture them having a grand time, sitting around trading stories about beating people with their own spines.  It's like the Notebook, only interesting.

I was tempted to add Conrad + Kelly! 

Jack is the only one I really can't think of one for...

I stopped talking to Jacob with femShep.  I can't stand the flirty tone when most of my femShep's are with Liara or single. 

I do have one that romance Kaidan and moved on to Jacob, but even then I found the over-flirty talk annoying.

I think Kasumi was given that crush on Jacob because it gave her a little more depth as a character. Being DLC it is understandable that they would want to give her as much depth as they possibly could with a lacking of a dialogue wheel and all. Plus she's not a LI in ME2 so it's either Jacob or Zaeed unless Kasumi is into turians or drell or is bisexual.

Jacob's end-romance was one of the few good things he ever does IMO, corny dialogue and all. He goes up to her and doesn't look for an excuse for it. Pretty much the only time he shows he's a man.

In the end, I found your last statement to be the opposite of how I see Jacob: the only misfit on an otherwise-worthy team. What I first see of Jacob is basically security guy from Cerberus station, who got lucky not to have to get left behind. Come game's end, that's still all I see!

Literally every other damn person on the ship gives me a reason I should respect them beyond what they are. Even Grunt, a krogan adolescent. I would respect his cynicsm (as I do Miranda's) if I could see more in him than being just-a-guy.

Kasumi and Jacob are probably the most level headed of all your squadmates. That said, I really hope BioWare puts Kasumi in more than a cameo role in Mass Effect 3. LI or not, I just hope she gets some kind of fleshed out character. Her popularity seems pretty good here.

I know the story, he talked about it too in the game a little. Thing is, he's always more impressive "on paper" than what I actually ever see. TIM calls him a good soldier, and the Shadow Broker thinks he's valuable enough to Cerberus that his death will cripple them. And, the obvious attempt in the Shadow Broker file. "They need him on the mission for stabilization." Nice try. Or the letter "Jacob please don't leave us!!!" from the Alliance.

They obviously feel the need to try to show Jacob as better than how people see him. That, to me, is bad writing. I should be able to see that myself. Whoever wrote Jacob failed to ever show him to be more than just-a-guy. Miranda, who's writing isn't too much better, I can at least see the leader she clearly is. Or Kaidan and Ashley, whose conversations alone could tell me A LOT about their characters.

Who knows. Maybe Jacob wouldn't wanna date someone like Kasumi. Jacob seems to be into people who are like FemShep, other soldiers. He and Miranda also had a little fling or something but he refuses to talk about. also another thing is that Jacob would probably dislike Kasumi because she is thief and she's probably steal some of his stuff too.

I agree.  I hope they get together.

My Shep would go back and send Jacob down those vents if that were the case...well hey! Jacob DOES volunteer....
