****! Picking only 2 is really difficult. But I thin I'll go with Liara/Miranda and Thane/Garrus. Liara because she was the first romance, and I find it a really interesting character. Miranda because...well, she is so hot, and was my romance inf ME2. Garrus because he stayed since Mass Effect 1, and I think that is a very good character, willing to go to war, but also very intelligent. I love Thane, being an assassin, and the story of his family makes me really like him.

Option A: Wrex and Garrus.
Option B: Tali and Liara.
Option C: Any combination of the above four.
Option D: One of the above four supplemented by Ashley, Miranda, Legion, or Jack.
Option E: Any two of those mentioned in option D.

Or Kaidan and Grunt for gits and shiggles. They can cover any situation, and just imagine the epic shenanigans.

I do love everyone else, but those are the people I feel the most invested in, story-wise, from (my) Shep's point of view. Everyone else sort of feels like a temporary ally.

Ashley and Tali were with me at the end of EVERY one of my ME1 playthroughs. Miranda was at the end of all my ME2 playthroughs with either Garrus (for 3 of the 4) and Thane once. Thane's AI in my game sucked the one time though and he got pwnt by the Human Reaper like 4 times.
