The game finds the hosted session.

But cannot connect.

Same thing happens if I go directly on lan without hamachi - finds the game but fails to join.

The host PC uses XP, the joining PC uses Win7.

I've tried hosting with the Win7 pc but then the other PC doesn't find the game at all.

Any ideas?

Edit: Oh maybe I should add that I have the latest patch and the direct X bug fix installed on both PCs.

I think most people use EasyTutu so not sure you'll get much help unless you can do the same. Even then multiplayer can be problematic.

Have you tried it without the directx patch as it would probably relate to a now obsolete version of directx.

Also have you enabled ports for BG as described at http://portforward.com/cports.htm - assume this may be required whether you're both on the same lan or playing over the internet.

I was thinking along the same lines about the dx patch but I tried with BG2 which has no such patch and got the same result. As for ports, I read somewhere that 12975 was the port for Baldur's Gate, so I forwarded that, but on portforward.com it says 2300-2400,6073 but there isn't even enough space for that. I tried forwarding just 2300-2400 but that didn't do any good either. Any idea what the ",6073" thing is supposed to do anyways? I guess if BG2 doesn't work that means EasyTutu won't work eh?

It depends on the router, would have thought 2300-2400 TCP range, 2300-2400 UDP range and 6073 for each would be allowed.

Have you also enabled the game exe on both windows firewalls? I'm not sure which of BALDUR.EXE, BGMAIN.EXE and BGMAIN2.EXE would be required so could start with them all and see if that makes any difference.

If you're gamespy that may need more exe's and ports. Sorry I can't help more but last time I MP'd was on Windows 98 and over a LAN.
