I have been switching between romancing the two with my profiles and I just can't decide.  I was hoping the people of the bioware social network could help me dicide.
Edit: I'm hoping for comparisons between the two.

Are you looking for a happy ending? I'd go with Merrill.  (well...relatively speaking. Her clan may be dead/hate her but she and Hawke aren't likely to face any major issues testing their relationship). 

If you like tragedy go for Anders.(between the Calling and Justice he's going out in a blaze).

I can't really speak on which one is better, since I always romance Fenris (gotta change that one of these days >.<), but I think you should try and think of who your particular Hawke would want to be with in the end.

And if that doesn't work, flip a coin. XD

You need help deciding between them? What it's impossible to make a Hawke for each of them? I have a Hawke for Anders, Merrill and Fenris. ...Various Hawkes to be precise.

I don't remember saying that I hate Anders in my previous post. I don't hate Anders at all. He grates on my nerves sometimes(but that's mostly everyone in this game, especially Fenris), but he's still one of my favorite characters.

Personally, I'd go with Merril. But then, I don't like the idea of jumping into bed with an abomination terrorist. Would probably have gone with anders once, had he not become what he is.

Not to mention, Merril's epic cuteness<3... and that she's an elf.

I ended up making a Hawke for both, and oddly enough both were overly good and sweet...and warriors...*sighs*

I loved both of their romances the most honestly. My canon F!Hawke friend romanced Anders and my canon M!Hawke friend romanced Merrill. Her rival is nice, if you can get passed the "You kicked my halla" look. Which is kinda upsetting because both rivalmance's for Anders and Merrill tend to have that outlook only Anders is you kicking his kitten. I haven't rivalmanced Isabela but I can say Fenris's seems less abusive/you just being a royal dick then the other two.

LOL I wouldn't. I tried her's and Anders rival paths to see if they were as bad or not so bad as some people say they are.  I found myself in the they are that bad boat.  I prefer her friend romance honestly.  Her blood magic doesn't bother me, and like all things it isn't bad until you use it for such.

I haven't rivalmanced Anders, but I did with Merrill, and I loved it. Her passion, her fire, I loved that side her, it gave me shivers.

anders. even my love of the crazy bastard and plot relevance aside, i think his romance fits in with the narrative best.

act 2 is a traditional buildup of hero defeating undeniable evil and getting the girl (or, well, the anders), and it's all very sweet and charming and typical.

act 3 is that same hero, completely ineffectual in stopping the real threat, watching as his life and everything he's built crumbles around him in the wake of unstoppable, morally ambiguous political force. meanwhile, his/her partner is falling apart at the seams and ultimately is the catalyst for that final destruction of hawke's life in kirkwall. depending on your hawke, it can end bittersweetly, with a glimmer of hope, or as the ultimate tragedy.

it's just a hell of a lot more poignant and interesting than merrill's (otherwise lovely) romance.

Merrill, all the way. Yes, her romance doesn't exactly have much in the way of plot relevance, but honestly, Merrill is just a much more likable character than DA2!Anders is, hands down.

I'll say Merrill, though I've never completed her romance and I actually don't really like her that much, as I think Anders is a bit too obsessive and crazy, whereas I bet Merrill's romance will at least be sweet and non-creepy. (Unless your Hawke's really hideous and looks way too old for her, I guess...)

Merrill. I like her rivalry path romance in particular.

Janders just isn't the same anymore, it might be different if it was plain old Awakening Anders.
