I love hearing about other people's Hawkes. I think it's really interesting how everyone can play the game completely differently. So tell me about yours! Tell me whatever you want; their names, their classes, their personalities, their relationships with other characters, their motivations... anything at all. Screenshots welcome. Image IPB

People might be uncomfortable being the first to share. You could break the ice by telling us a bit about your lady.

Alright, here goes.

Elisa Hawke: My first playthrough. She's a dual-wielding rogue. She's an even mix of diplomatic (when talking to people she respects, such as her friends, the Viscount, and Orsino) and sarcastic (when talking to Meredith, bad guys, etc.). She can be selfish a lot of the time, and more or less ignored her family in order to run off in search of adventure; she definitely loves them deep down, but has a hard time showing it. Within her group of friends, she's totally "one of the guys," and always has an all-male party; however, she shows her senstive and feminine side when she's alone with Anders. She's very infatuated with him (although not necessarily in love), and would do anything to gain his approval, including enthusiastically taking up his cause. Varric is her best friend, and the person she cares about most in the entire world. They love hanging out at The Hanged Man and getting into trouble together. Saying goodbye to him in order to run away with Anders was one of the hardest desicions she ever made.

...And that's about it. Image IPB

Elijah Hawke (named after my newly-born nephew Image IPB) is an apostate why focused primarily on Force and Elemental Magic. He idolized his father and was rather protective of his little sister Bethany. Much like Alistair, he coped with the stress in his life by being increasingly sarcastic (especialy towards Carver, whom he has a sibling rivalry with.) Although he sympathizes with his fellow apostates, he doesn't outright despise the circle. It's a nice concept, but it has poor execution.

Vergil Hawke, chaotic good and snarky. He's a genre-savvy apostate (and a blood mage to boot) who has managed, despite his best efforts, to lose all things really important to him (except for the dog). He's nearly incapable of saying the right thing to his brother, who never forgave him for not taking him along to the Deep Roads (and who was also kind enough to break his nose beforehand, thanks, brother dearest), loves long walks on charmingly named beaches, cutting his wrists to dance in the moonlight and ignoring the fact that his "long term roommate" is not so slowly losing his marbles.

Also: the dog totally sleeps on the bed.

Iain Hawke is a shy, introverted mage who really wants to do the right thing, even if it means leaving his beloved shadows and taking a stand for what he believes in. He starts out as 100% diplo Hawke, using humor only with his closest friends, but as his confidence grows, he becomes more comfortable showing more of his true self among strangers. He loves his brother Carver and understands why Carver resents him, but he knows that there is no cure for that but time. He is obsessed with Anders and considers him a missing piece of himself, but he has trouble understanding what Anders already knows: because of his merger with Justice, Anders can never completely reciprocate Iain's feelings for him. Of all his companions, Iain has the least trouble talking to Varric. Low pressure, no judgment, and good company.

The body hair can never be unsaid. Really, it's the point of the game.

Jack Hawke(I'm not good with names) a mage with a laid back view on the world and believes that every one just needs a drink at the hanged man. Often goes for the results that will benefit him more however strives for good. Despite his disagreements with there methods he believes Templers are necessary to control potential dangerous mages. He's friendly with all even his brother. Will never take any moment serious and will dance around the issues. Despite advances from his friends he walks his path alone, only with a dog at his side and book of jokes in his hand.

EDIT: I have another but he's just a Good guy who is pro mage, and carries big swords.

Thera Hawke. An ex Templar who tries to do good by those she considers friend and family, to the point she seems suicidal and reckless. Overly passionate in her convictions and as much as she agrees with both Fenris and Anders, she often is quick to put them in their place.  She has a nasty temper and it often wins her over when in battle, not to mention her blood lust for being a Reaver. A complete lyrium head and on the road becoming an alcoholic. She dislikes the Chantry and blames them for her problems.  She has seen both good and bad Templars and Templars she would love to kill herself, and she has seen the best of mages and the worst.  She feels that after all this time, mages deserve a chance.  After the Dalish mages don’t have a foot note in history for doing something like the Tevinter did. Jadded and bitter at her family for being forced into the Templar order, she doesn’t talk much about her mother and father, but she does you can feel the bitterness in her voice.  She runs away with Anders, believing that the best happily ever after is just being with the one you love.

I will stop there before this turns into a great wall of text lol.

I won't leave you with a screen but a commission!

Alright, I'll talk to you about my favourite Hawke. ^_^

Zack Hawke:

He was my favourite Hawke as he was a bundle of contradictions and yet he wasn't at the same time and rather fun to play as. He was a Blood Mage and a Templar-lover, and had fallen in love with Fenris. The reason why he loved the templars is because they put the "lesser mages" in a place where they could be safe and not interfere with his plans. His plans being becoming the most powerful figure in the city - the Viscount of Kirkwall. He hid all his plans under a mask of jokes, and only Merrill and Varric knew that he was a Blood Mage. Because of his manipulative abilities, everybody was his best friend (aka on Full Friendship) - even Carver, who had tragically died in the Deep Roads.

Regarding love, he didn't intend to fall for Fenris - he just wanted to sleep with him. But one day, Anders came for him (Zack planned to sleep with him too) and mentioned Fenris, and that was when he knew he had feelings for Fenris, blurting out "Don't call him that!" without thinking. He sent Anders away, and brooded for a few years after, worrying about this sudden predicament. Eventually - after a talk with Aveline and Varric - he chose to go back to his love, but to never tell him about the Blood Magic. They got back together, and then the events of Act 3 unfolded.

Zack Hawke sided with the Templars, realising that the time had come for his rise to power. But first, he had to kill Anders, as Zack knew that Anders would turn on him later if he let him live. He then proceeded to kill the majority of the mages and Orsino in the Gallows, and then Meredith turned on him, her paranoia actually being rather close to the truth - though nobody believed it. Only Meredith and Zack knew the truth. He killed her though, as she was in the way... and then he ruled as Viscount, the public begging for him to rule - exactly as planned.

Wilhelmina Hawke (art of her by YamiSnuffles) is a 2H warrior, and an accidental Reaver/purposeful Templar (better the devil you know, after all). She loves her sister too much to believe the Chantry line about mages being dangerous and, through her association with Anders, she comes to realize that the subjugation of mages is a thing that she cares about. A lot.

Beyond that...she's resolutely sarcastic with everyone save Anders, and he only gets a reprieve because she takes mage business/him so seriously. She's confident, irreverent, and too trusting of her friends despite being pretty suspicious of almost everyone else. She would be happiest with Isabela, but adores Anders far too much to see that, and she aspires to be a Isabela/Aveline hybrid superwoman, but she's responsible and can't be a total hedonist and she's seen so much suffering and discrimination that she feels blind or even near-sighted adherence to the law is not in the best interest of the masses. Also, she's horrible at cards which sucks because she spends almost as much time at the Hanged Man as her rogues...fortunately, she and Merrill have taken up Scrabble Wordsmith and have a healthy rivalry going over that.

My main Hawke: Juni Hawke was a Lieutenant in King Cailens army. She saved a Grey Warden once and was awarded with a suit of Grey Warden plate armor(Without the logo).
When she fled Lothering she managed to save the suit and take it with her to Kirkwall.
Though she and her brother fought day in and day out, she loved him very much and carries an amulet he gave her long ago as a reminder of him.
Though she is not happy with the Circle and the Templars, she is not opposed to the Circle as a whole and glady helps the Templars hunt down dangerous mages and drag them back to the Circle.
Fiercly protective of her sister Bethany, she tries everything to keep the Templars from her.
When Bethany was taking by the Wardens, she felt guilty that is was her sister and not herself that was tainted, and even wanders into the Deep Roads to take her anger out on the Darkspawn for taking both her sister and brother away.
She has a wierd sence of humor, is clumsy and has a tendancy to say wierd things which causes many people to think she is mildly crazy or delusional.
She has yet to find true love, though many have tried, she has never found "the one for her".
She has a great respect for the elves and buys most of her food and supplies at elven merchants.
When not doing anything that could get her killed, she is usually at the Hanged Man, sharing tales with Varric or other friends.
All of her companions has a hard time understanding her way of thought, but all agree that she is a warrior of remarkable ability, but they are worried about her.
(That is all I can think of without making it into a page long post)

So..
Gweneth Hawke - a bit childish, slightly narcissistic, hotheaded, snark-alot apostate.
Loves stories, and burning templars. Highly respects strength, both mental and physical. Thinks of herself as a mercenary. She's fast moving, fast-talking swears a lot and is a bit tomboyish (she does start to act a bit more ladylike as years go, though).
She's mostly spirit/arcane/entropy with some fire spells, but she also knows a bit of blood magic to protect herself and as a last resort.
Hobbies: bashing Carver (even if she actually likes him), playing with swords and fire, drinking, diamondback with Isabela (she's loosing a lot)
Rivalry: Aveline, Fenris
Best friends: Varric, Anders, Isabela
LI:Merril (almost went for Anders, but didn't want to "force him into relationship" - that's how she perceived it, so she moved on. Wonder if Anders ever moves on from Hawke)

Raze Hawke. (What Bethany and Carver stole all the normal names!)

The name was prophetic, everything had to die. No one really liked him except Sebastian and Fenris and Isabela, he loved money, killing people, and being a snarky jerk. Nothing felt better then putting mages six feet under and he was quite pissed that no one let him kill Grace right off the hop. Oh yah, he's a mage too. He is a full elemental mage and has all primal except rock armour cause that looks dumb. He dropped a couple skills into Force so that he could tell people that they were just fisted by the maker. Only Isabela laughs.

He and Carver were unfriendly so he took Carver into the deep roads without Anders. He knew he would be going home alone. (I think, this sounds like raze but I play alot so it may have been one of my other mages.) He and Anders didn't get along and he kicked Anders out of the club, and was quite unhappy to find the blighter was still in town later. He romanced Fenris, partly because of true love, partly because he loved agreeing with the anti mage stuff. He was viscount.

screen shot

Marric Hawke: is a goofy, sarcastic mage: uses ice, fire, force and spirit healing.

Marric is easy going and friendly with most people. He'd rather avoid fights and confrontations, using wit and humour, a habit which formed out of hiding his magic for most of his life. He doesn't care if he comes off as a fool or coward and knows the value of people underestimating him. If he does come to dislike someone he'll turn his humour on the offensive to mock and ridicule. But if his close friends are in a mood where humour isn't going to help he'll rein in the jokes.
While Marric knows the dangers of magic he's never really felt ashamed of having it, if he could, he'd shout his abilities from roof tops because he thinks being able to make light shows, heal his friends and chill his drinks on a hot day is one of the best things ever.
It came as a surprise to him then when he started falling for Fenris, even though he'd thought the man attractive their views on mages were unrelentingly opposed. But he could undertsand why Fenris would feel that way after what he'd been through. Still it was even more of a surprise when the elf flirted back despite their arguments and disagreements.
He has the tendency to give other people the benefit of the doubt, believing people are usually inherently good and if you put your trust in people it encouraged them to live up to that. Even though he'd never touch blood magic or demons with a ten foot pole he didn't begrudge Merrill using it and for the most part let people make their own decisions.

Oh that policy turned out well....

In any case he left Carver home for the Deep Roads trip because he didn't want anything to happen to him or have their mother left alone if something happened to both of them. He felt like Carver became a Templar just to spite him and never really understood him. He blamed himself for Leandra's deatha and Carver basically stabbed him in the back  with that at the Keep, just when he was starting to heal.
He helped mages and anyone else in need whenever he could, having a bit of a heroic streak.
Varric was his best friend and he stepped in to stop him taking the red lyrium, he was buddies with Anders but intimidated by his dedication to his cause, treated Merrill as a little sister and was very fond of her up until the end of her act 3 quest where he just wanted to shake sense into her, was buddies with Isabella and Aveline, he employed Orana, tried to help Fenris whenever he could despite their rivalry, he helped kill Danarius and resumed his relationship with Fenris after. The Qunari freaked him out with their complete lack of personal freedoms and horrified him even more when he found out what they did to mages, Isabella came back at the end of act 2 and Marric fought the Arishok to keep her safe. He tended to try and fool Templars into underestimating him and had a habit of trolling them. I suspect he hated being Champion some times and wanted to go back to when not everyone in the city knew who he was.
In the very end he spared Anders because there was no way he was going to let him skip out on cleaning up the mess he made, even though he really wanted to punch him in the face. He sided with the Mages and fled the city.

I have only the one, Thanatos.

Thanatos is a warrior with the Reaver and Templar specialisations (although he made significantly more use of Reaver), using sword and shield. In terms of personality, he was most at home when he had a goal to achieve and the road to achieve it was killing. His main motivation was to protect his family, which of course he failed spectacularly to do (Bethany died in the Deep Roads) - followed by getting ahead in life. He was generally blunt and somewhat impatient with people, although he would crack the occasional feeble joke. He was kind only to people he considered his family or very close friends. He would stick entirely to his word once given unless he felt that he had been lied to, at which point he would usually do something unpleasant to the one who had done the lying.
His hobbies included drinking, reading any history books he could get his hands on, and wandering the streets at night to find thugs to kill.

After the deaths of his family, he was largely motivated by revenge until it was accomplished. He would certainly not classify himself as being an evil sort, perhaps even believing himself to be more on the good end of the alignment spectrum, but if I were to put an alignment to him I'd peg him at lawful evil or at best lawful neutral.

Thanatos was mostly too busy killing things for romance, but during a lull in the killing he got bored and got with Fenris (friendly, not rivalry) - who was the only party member at the time he got along with (and, come to think of it, the only romancable character who he wouldn't have done away with given the chance), and seemed to like violence almost as much as he did. This turned out to be lucky, because after his family was killed in various horrible ways having someone else close to him managed to keep him sane and not completely bent on destruction.
He respected the Qunari and the Arishok more than he respected most of the people of Kirkwall, who he looked on as being somewhat useless as a whole. He was initially pleased with becoming Viscount (because of the power), but he almost certainly grew impatient with the politics and lack of action of it.

He was always fairly distrustful of mages with the sole exception of his sister, and ended up siding with the Templars (although originally he didn't want to become involved in politics) and killing Anders - worth noting in part because he would have killed any other member of the party who had done the same thing. He had dark suspicions that had Bethany lived she would have turned out to be a blood mage, and had paranoid suspicions that his father had been one. For these reasons, he firmly considered himself a member of the Amell family, and would have used that name instead of Hawke given the option.

As for getting along with the NPCs... mostly, he didn't. He got along by far the best with Fenris (and Bethany before her death), followed by Varric and then Aveline. He only started getting along well with Varric a good ways into the game, and he and Aveline only saw eye-to-eye on the law side of things. He never got along with Anders, distrusted Merrill intensely, and wanted to speak as few words to Isabela as possible (and after her stunt with the book, wanted to hunt her down and destroy her). Sebastian, to him, was simply there. He cared not one way or another about the man.

(Might've gone a bit overboard on the length there. My apologies.)

I've got two Hawkes. Let's see if I can not make this a wall of text...

-

Dirk Hawke was, to begin with, the responsible eldest son. Despite having the skills of a rogue he kept on the right side of the law. His honesty and good nature found him a friend for life in Aveline as they both tried to piece their lives back together in Kirkwall. He found himself a little thrown by the entrance of Fenris into his life - he found himself drawn to the brooding elf, and he began to suspect it wasn't simply because he was he shared his aversion to magic. After the Deep Roads expedition his personal life seemed to fall apart, with the death of his mother and Fenris being unable to return his feelings. He found his supports in Varric and Aveline, but found it all too easy to begin to actually resent magic for its involvement in Leandra's death and Fenris' past, especially with Bethany in the circle instead of being there to show him that not all mages are bad.

Having come to respect the quinari, the events culminating in the death of the Arishok by his hand were somewhat of a low point for him. But having had three years to mourn all that had happened in that time, he felt things were looking up by the time of Orsino's rebellion. He served as the Knight-Commander's trusted servant, protecting the world from what he saw as "evil", all the while having rekindled his relationship with Fenris. He fought the last hurdles with a templar's zeal, and with his elven lover by his side lead a crusade against the mages after the attack on the Chantry. The exception for that being his sister Bethany - for even though he has come to hate mages, he remained a good person, and could never raise a hand against the only family he had left. He took her to his side as an advisor in his short time as viscount, but even with the help of a mage, a guard-captain and a very manly and well-connected dwarf Kirkwall still crumbled. They hit the road together, but eventually all settled down - all except for Dirk and Fenris, who've made it their mission to hunt the blood mages who've escaped the crumbling circles before they can do anyone any harm.

-

Alanis Hawke was a quick-witted apostate, ever-optimistic and seeming to never take anything seriously. Her charisma often overshadowed Carver, even as she secretly relied on him as her defence against the templars. She was a welcome thorn in Aveline's side, a firm drinking buddy to Varric and Isabella, and tried to be a mentor of sorts to Merrill. Then there was Anders. She was at first drawn to him as another apostate, the first she'd ever met that wasn't her late sister. Then when he saved the life of her beloved brother in the Deep Roads she found herself indebted to him, looking to him in a way that was almost hero worship. Though she tried to mask her deep affections with her usual clowning, it soon became clear that they were returned, and so Anders became her rock and she his most fervent supporter.

As time passed her feelings became perhaps less obsessive and closer to love, and surrounded by him as well as her close friends she felt that her life had become fairytale. But by the time of the mage rebellion, that had all come apart. Anders had become distant, Aveline was antsy about the templars, and Merrill despite all of Alanis' efforts was still bargaining with demons. She began to feel helpless, to the point where Isabella's offer to let her sail away on her ship became incredibly appealing. Just when she felt she'd cracked, the attack on the chantry happened. Acting on instint and her old fanatacism, she stood by Anders, feeling a relief that with his secret out he seemed to have opened back up. She reunited with Carver, and together they defended the mages. With the city burning they had no choice but to flee, taking Isabella up on that offer to serve on her crew. Though it pained her to say goodbye to her brother again, and eventually Isabella too, she knew it had to be. She now lives with Anders as a fugitive, supporting each other in their life on the run.

I'll try to summarize my favorite Hawke for you as best I can. Here it goes...

Her name is Marian Hawke because I liked the default name. She has dark blue eyes, black hair which she always keeps in a ponytail and despite being older than her siblings looks much younger, which annoys her greatly. She is snarky mage who likes to blow stuff up and then giggle about it. She is a pure damager, so she doesn't know heal spells. Her only specialization is force mage. She is deathly afraid of templars so often sides with them, but not all the time. She never wears robes and only uses staffs that don't really look like staffs. She honestly doesn't care about the templars or politics, she just wants to live her life, have some fun and make some money.

Marian isn't against the circle, but knows that the way it is isn't the way it should be. This belief often causes her to disagree with Anders, as well as the fact that she thinks he's a dangerous abomination who she calls "Abominanders" behind his back. Her best friends are Isabella and Varric, who often have snarky-offs and play cards together at the Hanged Man everyday. Aveline doesn't approve of her mercenary occupation and they often argue. She is uncomfortable around Merril because of her blood magic and tries desperately to get her to stop because she fears for the cute elf's safety. Marian and Carver became good friends over time and she tries to convince him to act on his crush on Merril. In turn, he tries to convince Marian to act on her crush on Fenris, which she was scared to do because she was a mage, but she eventually does.

Marian and Carver went into the Deep Roads, where Carver became ill. Anders led them to some Grey Wardens and Carver joined them just like their cousin, Ariadne, the Hero of Ferelden and Queen had. This led Marian to think that maybe Anders was an alright guy, but she still didn't like or trust him. Also she thought that Carver joining the Grey Wardens was the best thing that could have happened, as she had high respect for the Wardens and knew Carver would excel in the order.

When her mother died she blamed herself, and held up in her mansion for weeks. Isabela and Varric attempted to cheer her up but nothing seemed to work. But Fenris was able to do so. Even though he had left her, she knew he cared and would be there for her when it mattered. She understood why he left that night, which was why she had decided to wait for him to return to her when he was ready to do so. She was positive he would. So she thought maybe she wasn't so alone as she thought.

When Anders blew up the Chantry, she had no idea what to do about it. He killed a lot of innocent people and maybe he should be given a chance to redeem himself, but he really deserved to die. She was angry with herself for only sending him away after he killed Ela. If she had killed him there this would have been avoided. She always knew he was a danger. That he was unstable. Marian decided that if he continued to live who knows what else he would do, what else he was capable of. So she killed him. Then she sided with the mages. She was not going to let Meredith kill all mages for what Anders did. It wasn't right. They defeated Meredith and fled Kirkwall on Isabela's ship to Ferelden where they all parted ways except for Marian, Caver and Fenris. They began to start the journey to Denerim to see if Ariadne could help them hide from the templars, but when they arrived, it wasn't what they expected...

I obviously made up that last part but that's what I imagine happening. I could have continued, but I doubt people want to hear the unwritten fanfic I keep in my head. So...Cliffhanger!! :)

Rain Hawke, a free spirit rogue that trouble follows despite her light heart. All she wants is to have fun but it never seems to go that way. She enjoys the company of her friends though some are not in the free spirits group. Naturally some hang around each other more. Isabela, Merrill and Varric can be seen around Rain the most. Rain's name is fitting for the storm that follows her despite the light heart and joy she emits. But she also doesn't back down for what she thinks is right. Ideally I'd have Rain running off with Daisy, Rivaini, Varric and most importantly Sunshine. After everything that has happened, Rain holds her family closer than ever.

Ideally I'd have Rain running off with Daisy, Rivaini, Varric and most importantly Sunshine. After everything that has happened, Rain holds her family closer than ever.

Did she romance anyone?
