Long swords are a good size, two handed swords where massive in DAO, and massive in DA2, it's not just a DA2 issue.DarkDragon777 wrote...
I'm talking about all weapons in general. I think all types of swords were ridiculously oversized.

The gameplay, well, it CAN be a bit of a pain at the beginning, and I threw the mouse at the wall in frustration, in some parts, due to the controls, but, overall, I felt the gameplay was much improved over the first witcher's "wait and click at right time" strategy!

I don't understand this rivalry between TW and DA, and CDPR and Bioware. No other RPG developers have similar rivalries. The only other place I see this kind of brand advocacy in the game industry is in the Call of Duty vs Battlefield3 rivalry. I think we can do better than that.
The fact is, both games and developers have strengths and weaknesses. Shocking, I know.
There was a lot of rivalry between fans of the Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy games. That is, until the companies merged. Not that I'm particularly advocating the merging of CDPR and Bioware.

Still, they could be worse in that regard, I suppose.

Indeed, they improved upon it by copying Jade Empire.

Good storyline ruined by a boring main character, horrible VA, lifeless characters and horrible gameplay. I can play JE which has similar gameplay and more enjoyable.MorrigansLove wrote...

Alright, I suppose I can agree with that. The long swords weren't that bad. But only a superhuman juggernaut would be able to carry greatswords that big.

If you're repositioning randomly of course it isn't tactical.

Hardly, because I was being sarcastic.
Which isn't to say I approve of the way the waves mehanic was implemented. Every single combat encounter should not play out as if it is a prepared ambush for the party.

So why are you trolling if you didn't read them lol. You expect only poles to attack you? Well as far as i know there is a polish bsn so most of the poeple are there .Upsettingshorts wrote...
And exclusively boring. But that might be just me. Not to put down CDPR - they did a fine job - they're burdened by boring source material.
/expects to be attacked by Poland any second now
//full disclosure: I have not read the source material, the games themselves bore me however

1) It's not trolling, especially since it's on topic. I explained that the games bored me. Maybe the books wouldn't but that doesn't change the lack of appeal the game holds for me.
2) The Witcher is a really big deal in Poland. Plus, that was a joke. I don't expect reasonable people to attack me for simply not liking some entertainment media.

Thank you! I post that video so much and get barely any acknowledgement that it's not that hard! Especially when the guy does the equivalent to a Sunder Armor technique like 4 times in a row later on!

The English localizations of TW1 and 2 are comparable.

If you reaction to the "random" events requires thought and you react to them deliberately and with purpose, that's tactical.
All your argument proves is that the enemy doesn't act tactically. And I can count the number of games with convincgly tactical AI on one hand, and none of them are cRPGs.

7 feet really is not that long of a sword. 7 foot swords did exist. DA2's swords are not even that long.
DA's sword blades can be a bit wide, but their length is not the issue (that's what she said, etc.).

The only issue with DA great swords is the handel is a bit big, and sometitmes the designs are a bit crazy but overall they are good and more intresting. The Ethereal Writer Redux wrote...

The only issue I have with the weapons ist he lack of proper daggers and no bow strings.

With CoD and BF it kinda makes sense, they're both popular shooters with a huge multiplayer following, so rivalry is inevitable. DA and TW on the other hand are nothing alike beyond the fact that they're fantasy games, any comparison is like saying Deus Ex should learn a thing or two from Prey.
