They don't take more significant stuff out because they know they can't get away with it.Lumikki wrote...
If that would be point, then why not remove every item, mod, weapons, squad members from game and leave only one of each. Then force players in shop to buy everyting seperatly. Why not? Because it's not good game design.Mister Mida wrote...
What's the point? Money.Lumikki wrote...
I don't support any "extra" bonus features or items.
What's the point of doing them and leave other people out of it? Why waste time doing something, if not all customers can enjoy of them. Why create exclusive customers?
So, no it's not money, if it has negative affect to game sales. Only way to avoid that negative affect is have bigger enough variety inside the orginal game without the extra, then it doens't anymore matter. Example ME2 did not have that, armors had negative affect, because not enough armors in general. It's bad design.

Yeah, I know. I find it sad that companies looks, see we sold these extra stuff. How ever, where is figures to show how many players they did lose because they extra sale? There isn't it anywhere, no-one counts them. If you can't quantify something, it doesn't exist, right.Mister Mida wrote...

Why it's wrong? Like in you comment "get away" pretty much say it, if you need to "get away", you are doing something wrong. Example if they would just put the "extra" armor in orginal game everyone would get it, it's more positive to everyone who is they customer, no-one lose anything.
If you make it connected to some extra deal, only the exlusive players are happy and all other are unhappy about it. So, why do it for a few extra buck, when they can't even know what they losses are because of it. It's better just make the orginal game as good as possible and make everyone happy. It's just bad business been short sided and think that exclusive is good idea.

Again. Despite how you want to paint it. It is not exclusive. it is a very small minority where it is not a choice to go get that other game or pay for that extra content when they come up with it later or something. Exclusive is like if say they give me a fancy super weapon that obliterates reapers in one shot if I order my game a certain way or from one company while another company might give me a tea cosy or something.
Simply offering something Extra to somebody who decides to get something else is not Exclusive when they offer it to everybody who decides to get that something else reguardless of where they decide to get it.

Would be cool.
No hoods please. They always translate to me as "fake cool". Besides, hoods like that are highly impractical, hampering your vision quiiiite a bit.

A colt 1911 for use in ME3. In universe, wealthy enthusiasts like to take collectables with a history like the colt and restore them to functionality, using all the new features of modern firearms. This 1911 now operates like a hand cannon and accepts thermal clips.
Worst idea ever, no?

The Dead Space armor pissed me off though. It's not even the same developer ala Blood Dragon armor, that was flat out stupid. If Bioware wants to put in some Sith/Jedi-esque armor from TOR that's fine, they developed both games, so I consider that fair game.... but please no "EA Umbrella" armor options again.

But as a standard game owner I still want to be able to download those DLCs and install them onto my game, is Bioware really saying I can't pay for those bits and bobs I missed out on ever?
I'm sceptical of this view, Bioware will sell me an extra character because I will pay 500 points for it, and 250 points for a robotic dog and 250 points for some guns...they want my money even if I couldn't afford the deluxe game on release date.
And if they won't make that content available in DLC form then they're F*^£!#@ stupid, 2/3rds of this forum won't be able to say "Oh I liked James Vega, he rocked" because they'll never have played him, because they're surfs.

It happens. Oh, and why is the Collector's edition twice as much? Last time I looked it was an extra 20 bucks (still a decent amount, but a $40 difference is significant).

I hope ME3 is the same, I want to be able to buy and download all the same addons that the Collectors' Edition owners get on the DVD provided in their more expensive game set.

In the long run gear isn't that important though. Story/Character stuff, that's important. No one should ever miss out on that, even if it costs extra later.
Although as a side note.... I hated Sebastian Vael in DA2 and I would just have assumed played the game without him, so I guess you take the good with the bad.

THIS!!!!!!!!!!
I don't mind bonus armor for pre-ordering here or there.... but damn... make it customizable!! I'd have liked to make the blood dragon armor all black... or use the helmet with different body parts or what have you.

Hamper your vision? I think we pretty much threw "vision-issues" out the window when Kestrel Helmet was implemented. If one of the surface cameras went out, your blind. Also, were in third person. Why does vision issues matter?
How about the 3rd Echelon Elite? Was pretty cool in Splinter Cell Convictions:

Covers the whole body and has the sleek look that would make it perfect for Infiltrators.

That would be cool, as long as the female version is appropriately shaped and gave shepard muscles and made her chest 10 times bigger.

Good luck getting Microsoft to sign off on that for the PS3 version. Nothing pisses me off more than console/pc exclusives in multi-platform games.
That said, I haven't seen any armor from Halo that I like.
